Georgia is the best team in the college football country

I think Georgia at their best beats any team at their best. I think Georgia at their worst also beats any team at their worst. Like the floor for Georgia is higher than any other team's floor. And I think that Georgia, like medium Georgia probably beats everybody at their medium except for maybe Alabama.

Georgia finished the regular season with two losses and did not win the SEC, though they remained a top-tier contender.

The 12-team playoff allows cowards to get in by scheduling easy non-conference games

There's really no need to schedule a tough out of conference schedule with a 12 team playoff... the coward's way out is working right now. You're banking on the opportunity to get kicked out by your one tough loss that you have and then spending the time getting mad at the committee.

This is a subjective critique of the playoff incentives and scheduling philosophy.

Kentucky basketball won the coaching trade by replacing Calipari with Mark Pope

Kentucky, there's a clip going around. That's awesome. It's Mark Pope coaching in the huddle, essentially telling his players exactly what Cooper Flag is going to do... Something that Kentucky basketball is missing that in-game coaching. Kentucky basketball, good for you guys.

Mark Pope led Kentucky to the NCAA Tournament as a 5-seed in his first year, while Calipari's Arkansas also made the tournament as a 6-seed. Neither made the Final Four, so it's too early to declare a clear winner, but Pope's first year was solid.

Coaching is purely about how hard your players will play for you, not X's and O's

It's all about how hard can your players play for you... You can be a coach that has zero X's and O's, but you had your team run through a motherfucking wall from you. That's half the battle right there. And that's all coaching is.

The Steelers need to be taken very much for real as Super Bowl contenders

This was the game that was like, damn, the Steelers need to be taken very much for real because their defense just bottled up a very, very explosive Ravens offense. And they now have a two game lead in the AFC North and they are in play for a one seed as well because the Chiefs lost.

The Steelers continued to lead the AFC North and were in the mix for the 1 seed until the final weeks of the season.

Justin Tucker legitimately might be washed

There's something wrong with Justin Tucker and we've been calling him washed I think ever since it might've been 2017 when he missed that extra point against the Saints... now I think he legitimately might be washed. He's 30th in the NFL in terms of accuracy this year.

Matt Eberflus is a stupid head coach who coaches scared

Matt Eberflus is now 14 and 30 as a head coach. He's five and 17 in one score games... He's coaching like a guy who has like a 10 year contract. He's coaching like he shouldn't push the buttons to be like, 'Hey, you're a four and six team now.' ... Not only do you not run an extra play when you have a timeout in your back pocket to try to get closer, but in the drive before that it's fourth and three on the 50 yard line. Try to win the game right there.

Matt Eberflus was indeed fired shortly after this game (following the Thanksgiving Day loss), validating the take that he was unfit for the role.

The organization's a fucking joke... None of it makes sense. Everything sucks. The organization is a joke. They've ruined Caleb Williams.

The Bears went 5-12 in 2024 and Caleb Williams' development was hampered by poor coaching and supporting cast. However, Williams still showed flashes and set franchise rookie records. I think the Falcons, they're the perfect team that you would put into the slot of losing a Wild Card weekend playoff game.

The Falcons missed the playoffs entirely in 2024 after collapsing down the stretch (Kirk Cousins was benched). They didn't even make it to Wild Card weekend. While they didn't lose in the Wild Card round specifically, the spirit of the prediction — that the Falcons were pretenders — was correct.

NFL teams change coaches too quickly, which stunts quarterback development

I do [think the NFL moves on from coaches too quickly]. Every team had a coach that was there for a period of years... and now they change coaches every year or two and they change offense and defensive coordinators like they change shirts. And I think that has a lot to do with the lack of quarterback consistency and development over time.

This is a subjective organizational philosophy, but widely accepted as a reason why teams like the Steelers (high stability) stay competitive.

The Detroit Lions win because of their pre-snap recognition and execution

What I love about Detroit is they win in the pre-snap, meaning they'll change the tight end, they'll change the receiver, they'll motion two or three times before the ball is snapped and they'll let Jared Goff pick a play... I call it RCE. You recognize the defense and when you know what defense they're in, now you communicate a play to beat that defense.

A rookie quarterback shouldn't be blamed for sacks if they are holding the ball too long

There's too much of him. You know, there's 40 times he's carried the ball. There's 40 times he's been sacked... You can't blame the offensive line for all these sacks. I just encourage him, you know, to get rid of the ball. Sometimes the best play you can make is throwing the ball away because that's the only good play you could make.

Advanced stats like PFF's 'sacks attributed to QB' often support the view that Williams holds the ball longer than league average.

Wide receiver bubble screens are a waste of time and personnel

When you throw a bubble screen or a quick screen, I mean, how how many times do you see Jerry Rice run a bubble screen right now? You never saw Willie Gault run a bubble screen. You got these three Corvettes [Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze]... Now let him run some routes and tell the quarterback to throw him the ball or get rid of the ball, but quit taking sacks.

Sean McVay's decision to kick a field goal on third down was wrong — he waited too long and then did it too early at the same time

If you are going to play the game of we should kick a field goal before we try to get a touchdown, do it with like a minute and a half left the minute you get into field goal range. Why would you give away a down that you could — the harder thing to do is score a touchdown. It felt like he got caught somewhere in the middle where he just didn't really make up his mind.
