Allagash White is my number one micro-brew and I am responsible for making the brand famous

But the last one is Allagash White, which I made famous. I mean, it's a little bit of a cliche, but I mean, I have two or three Allagash Whites a week. I mean, it's good beer. What more can I tell you?

The quality of the beer is subjective, and his role in its fame is an unprovable personal claim.

Jason Garrett is on a toasty hot seat in Dallas

I'm going to see the Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard, California. [Jason Garrett's hot seat?] I think it's toasty. It's toasty.

Garrett survived the 2018 season but was eventually fired after the 2019 season.

Ezekiel Elliott will eventually have to serve his full six-game suspension

I'm assuming, what I've assumed all along, that at some point, Ezekiel Elliott's going to have to serve his six games. I doubt sincerely it's going to go to the Supreme Court. I can't believe the Supreme Court would think this is worth their time.

Ezekiel Elliott eventually dropped his appeal and served the six-game suspension later in the 2017 season.

Jerry Jones's threat to sue the NFL is a smoke bomb to hide his frustration with the national anthem issue

This is one of those things that I'm angry, I'm ticked off, and I'm going to do something about it. And what I'm going to do is threaten to sue... Although the vast majority of people who I know around the league are saying that Jerry was mad before the Ezekiel Elliott thing happened, very hard for me to take seriously the notion that Ezekiel Elliott has nothing to do with his anger and his venom right now.

Jerry Jones did eventually back down from his threat to sue after Goodell's contract extension was finalized, supporting the 'smoke bomb' theory.

Chuck Pagano will be the first NFL coach fired this year

If things continue the way they are, I think probably Chuck Pagano [will be the first to be fired].

Ben McAdoo of the Giants was actually the first coach fired during the 2017 season (on December 4). Pagano lasted until the end of the year.

Hue Jackson will keep his job in Cleveland because ownership wants to end the coaching carousel

I'm one of the few people in our business I really still think that Hue Jackson's going to make it. And I think he's going to make it because I'm going on something that Jimmy Haslam told me... He absolutely unequivocally does not want to continue this merry-go-round.

Hue Jackson remarkably kept his job through a 0-16 season in 2017, only being fired mid-way through the 2018 season.

Josh Gordon will play way more than 1.5 more games in his NFL career

[Josh Gordon games played left over-under one and a half?] Way over one and a half.

Josh Gordon went on to play several more seasons and dozens more games for the Browns, Patriots, Seahawks, Chiefs, and Titans.

Jeff Fisher and Rex Ryan will never coach in the NFL again

[Jeff Fisher coaching again?] Way under one and a half. [Rex Ryan coaching again?] Under one and a half. Who's hiring Rex?

As of 2024, neither Jeff Fisher nor Rex Ryan has held an NFL coaching position since their firing in 2016.

The NFL will likely face a strike or lockout during the next CBA negotiations

I think there's a good chance, because I think the players don't want to give anything to the league. They don't want to give something big to the NFL in exchange for stripping Goodell of the judge, jury, executioner powers. And the other thing is going to be guaranteed contracts. Aaron Rodgers said it adamantly to me, absolutely guaranteed contracts.

A new CBA was reached in March 2020 without a strike, though labor tension was high.

The NFL should move to shorter, fully guaranteed contracts for players

In my opinion, I think the NFL should sign players to shorter contracts and guaranteed contracts. You're a battering ram. These guys basicially have two years left on a contract, but it's not guaranteed, so they just walk away.

Subjective opinion on labor policy.

Roger Goodell should hold weekly open press conferences with his biggest critics

I think every Thursday or Friday at 11 o'clock, [Goodell] ought to have a standing appointment with one of his tormentors... Bill Simmons ought to come in... Rachel Nichols and all the other people who have been critical of him... have it be all comers. You can ask whatever you want.

Goodell never implemented this specific format of a weekly 'critic' press conference.

At least five teams in the league right now could easily win the Super Bowl

I'll name them right now. These are the teams that I think easily could win the Super Bowl this year: New England, Pittsburgh, Denver. Now, Minnesota could win the Super Bowl. Green Bay could win the Super Bowl. Philadelphia could win the Super Bowl. Have you seen their defense play? They've allowed 27 points in three games.

New England (one of his listed teams) did win the Super Bowl. However, Minnesota and Philadelphia missed the playoffs entirely.

The Bears will move on from Jay Cutler in the offseason

I think they ought to give Jay Cutler a gold watch, say thanks for everything. We've got to move on. He'll start somewhere next year. I believe that they tried very hard to get Marcus Mariota.

The Bears released Cutler in March 2017. He briefly retired before joining the Dolphins.

Twitter is essentially the new Associated Press wire service

Twitter is a great tool... I had somebody a few years ago tell me, you know what Twitter is? It's like two generations ago what the Associated Press was. It's like a wire service... On an average Thursday afternoon, if I spend 45 minutes on Twitter, I know what the coach of every team said that day.

This is a subjective assessment of media utility, though widely accepted in the journalism world at the time.

Michael Vick should be in the Hall of Fame based on his on-field performance

I would vote Michael Vick for the Hall of Fame based only on what he did on the field. But I don't think he did enough as an NFL player to be on the field. But whatever happened to him off the field, even though it did cost him two years, would not prevent me from voting for him for the Hall of Fame.

Vick has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame and is generally not considered a likely candidate by most voters.

Carson Wentz has better long-term prospects than Jared Goff because he can sit for a year

I would look at Wentz's long-term prospects, especially if he can sit the first year and learn... The thing I fear for Goff is being thrown to the wolves right away with huge expectations, big city, new city. The learning curve is going to be very, very fast for him... I would be much happier if I were training a quarterback this year for one of these two teams, if he could sit for a year instead of getting battered. So that's one reason I really like Wentz.

Both had mixed careers. Goff reached a Super Bowl with the Rams and later succeeded with Detroit. Wentz had an MVP-caliber season but fell off significantly. Goff generally had a more stable and successful career as a franchise starter.

Johnny Manziel will never start another game in the NFL

if you had to put your life on it, does Johnny Manziel start another game in the NFL? I would say no. I think he'll try. I think he'll come back at some point. It'll be a great redemption story. But the problem is... his skillset was going to be difficult anyway... I think he's got a little bit of the Tebow thing around him right now that he's, he's skillset fits college football and not the NFL.

Johnny Manziel never started another game in the NFL after being released by the Browns in early 2016.

A second major cheating scandal would definitively impact Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame standing

If Bill Belichick were to get caught cheating, doing something like Spygate again, do you think that that would impact his Hall of Fame status down the line? [Peter King]: It'll impact his Hall of Fame status. I mean, he's already got the black mark from Spygate against him from 2007. ... you would have to judge the black marks against Belichick's career with the incredible career that he had.

Belichick has not yet been eligible for the HOF, but his post-2016 career (3 more Super Bowls) and subsequent 'Deflategate' (already happening) suggest his success likely outweighs the scandals for most voters.
