Caleb Williams should have used his leverage to force the Bears to decide on Matt Eberflus before the draft

If you're a quarterback like Caleb, like Shadur coming out, and you have the power to tell a team, I need you to make a decision on your coach. All I was suggesting he do is say, I need to know what you're doing with the coach. So I don't come into a situation where the structure is bad. And now he's gonna be sitting there second head coach. Third offensive coordinator.

The Bears did fire Eberflus in-season, validating RG3's concerns about Williams entering a 'hot seat' situation with poor structure.

Lincoln Riley could succeed in Chicago as Caleb Williams' offensive coordinator, but not as head coach

I don't believe that Lincoln [Riley] would succeed in Chicago as the head coach. But if he wanted to come to the NFL and be with the quarterback that he won a Heisman Trophy with you make him the offensive coordinator.

Lincoln Riley remained at USC and has not taken an NFL role as of late 2024.

The Commanders could win the Super Bowl this year

I could see Washington winning the Super Bowl... I could see them winning the Super Bowl because it's so up in the air right now. Especially with the Lions... being so beat up on defense... Anything can happen once you get in the dance.

The Commanders did not win the Super Bowl. They made it to the NFC Championship but lost to the Eagles 23-55.

The Mike Silver story about Dan Snyder ignoring Kirk Cousins is 'fucking bullshit'

Mike Silver came on the show... and he told you this story about the Cleveland game. And it was a great game... and he told you a story about how Dan Snyder walked in the locker room and like damn near trucked Kirk to get to me and asked me if I was okay. That reminded me... it was a fucking over exaggeration of the story. Dan Snyder walked in the locker room... he didn't brush past Kirk Cousins. He walked to me... then he turned around and he congratulated Kirk Cousins on the job that he did.

RG3 was the person at the center of the story; his eyewitness account directly contradicts Silver's reporting. Without further evidence, it's a 'he-said/he-said' but RG3 is unequivocal.

I can still play in the NFL and am not technically retired

Can I still play in the NFL? Yes. Yes. Are you retired technically? No. I have not put in my paperwork or, you know, signed my anything with like the trust or anything like that. I've done that on purpose because I didn't want to have to do it twice. But no, I, I just train every week like I'm a player and then if I get the call, I'm ready to roll.

While he hasn't filed retirement papers, he hasn't been signed to an NFL roster in years.

I ran a 4.38 forty-yard dash on camera last year

I ran a 4, 2, 5 last year. So you're faster than you've ever been. It was hand times. But then they actually went back and timed it on the camera and then it was a 4, 3, 8. So we'll go 4, 3, 8. I'm cool with that. Listen that, that's faster than I've ever been to be honest.

Hard to verify without the raw footage, but he did beat an eagle/hawk in a race on TV.

The Washington Commanders will likely change their name again

I think it's a terrible name. Yeah, I think it's an awful name, man. I don't think it's gonna be Commanders long term. Because if you've seen Josh Harris, I kept an eye on this all year. He always wears the Washington hat, right? With the W on it. I've never seen him wear Commanders on his shirts.

The Washington Commanders have not changed their name. Owner Josh Harris confirmed the Commanders name is not changing.

I shouldn't have played at all in the 2013 NFL season

I came away from watching that tape in 2013, honestly disgusted. I shouldn't have played at all in 2013. Gave myself a full, a full year of not just watching tape and building those bonds. The bottom line is, I did play, and what you put on tape is how they're going to judge you.

Hindsight from the athlete himself.

NFL teams shouldn't draft a QB into a split front office situation

If I'm an evaluator, I'm a GM, I'm never drafting a quarterback into a situation where there's a split in the building. Don't do that. 'Cause the kid's not gonna be able to have the best chance to be successful. You can't draft a guy if everybody's not gonna be in lockstep to help develop that guy.

General consensus in football management, though occasionally teams succeed despite it.

The Giants made a mistake by signing Daniel Jones to a major contract

Why did they [the Giants] decide to pay Daniel Jones? A lot of that is, you know, they don't want to admit that they made a mistake. They made a mistake.

Jones struggled significantly and dealt with injuries after signing the deal, and the Giants eventually moved on from him as the franchise starter, validating this take in hindsight.

Media coverage favors coaches over players because coaches have longer careers

Players need to know that there's a reason that the mainstream media has the coaches' backs. And it's because no matter how long you play, that coach is gonna coach longer... That relationship with that coach is more important than that relationship with the player. So when you see narratives like Russell Wilson, and you see like, okay, there's like one or two guys that are talking [badly] about the coach... it's because they know that coach is still gonna be coaching.

This is a systemic observation of media dynamics that is generally accepted by industry insiders but remains subjective.

Brock Purdy played the quarterback position better than anyone else this year

If you just look at Brock Purdy stats from the regular season, you'd say he was the best quarterback in the NFL this year. Lamar was the MVP, Brock Purdy played the quarterback position better than anybody in the NFL. He's a creator. He creates plays for them, not just with ball placement, but with his legs.

Highly debated topic; Purdy led in many efficiency metrics but Lamar won the MVP.

Patrick Mahomes is the second greatest quarterback in history after only six years

Mahomes is either gonna have two Super Bowls in his six years, or he is gonna have three Super Bowls. So he'll already have been the second greatest quarterback in NFL history. In six years. It's crazy. He's on a Brady track.

Subjective ranking, though Mahomes has a strong case against Montana for the #2 spot.

Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen deserve the same grace period Peyton Manning had

It took Peyton Manning nine seasons to win one Super Bowl. And Lamar's going into year seven. So give him that grace that we gave to some of these others. Same with Josh Allen. I hate the fact that they're debating whether he's great on TV every freaking week when he loses a game.

Comparison of career arcs is subjective.
