NFL Week 12 Recap: Chaos in D.C., Saquon’s MVP Case, and PFT vs. Hank
Week 12 was supposed to be a boring slate of games with massive spreads, but instead, it delivered the most chaotic witching hour of the season. Between special teams meltdowns in Washington and the Bears finding a new, creative way to lose in overtime, Big Cat and PFT had plenty to unpack before heading into Thanksgiving week. The energy in the studio was high, mostly because Hank has officially been unmasked as a double agent, placing "hater bets" against the Commanders while sitting right behind PFT during games.
The Commanders’ Collapse and the Return of Kliff
PFT is going through it right now. After a hot start to the season, the Commanders dropped a stunner to a Cowboys team that looked dead on arrival. Between missed extra points and allowing multiple kick return touchdowns in the final minutes, the vibes in D.C. have shifted dramatically from "Super Bowl sleepers" to "please just make the playoffs."
The Commanders aren't a very good football team right now
The Commanders aren't a very good football team right now. The offense looks disjointed. It looks like chaos. They look nervous, panicky on offense. This might be the Kliff Kingsbury cliff that happens every season.
The panic is real, and PFT isn't hedging his concerns about how this season might finish.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Commanders miss the playoffs
I said out loud, it wouldn't surprise me if we [the Commanders] missed the playoffs. Because we're not playing—we were a 10 and a half point favorite during this game.
Big Cat’s Silver Linings and the Rookie Race
While the Bears lost again in heartbreaking fashion—this time thanks to a blocked field goal and a defensive collapse in overtime—Big Cat is staying surprisingly positive. He’s hitching his wagon to Caleb Williams’ development, arguing that surviving the Shane Waldron era should be worth a trophy on its own.
Caleb Williams is my personal Rookie of the Year
I actually think Caleb Williams, he's my personal rookie of the year because what he was able to do with Shane Waldron as a coach is maybe the most impressive thing ever.
Speaking of rookies, the debate for the actual hardware is heating up. While Jayden Daniels has hit a wall, Bo Nicks is playing clinical football in Denver. PFT is ready to call the race right now.
Bo Nicks should win Rookie of the Year
I was gonna say that I think as of right now, Bo Nicks should win Rookie of the Year. He's been better for a longer period of time than Jayden, even though [Jayden Daniels] got off to that electric start.
Fraud Alerts and the NFC North Gauntlet
The Texans and 49ers both took massive steps backward this week. Big Cat isn't buying Houston as a contender despite their record, noting that CJ Stroud and the offense look clunky every single week. Meanwhile, the Niners were bullied by a Packers team that is starting to look like a serious problem in the NFC.
The 49ers are in a lot of trouble and this is a 'season from hell' for them
The Niners are in a lot, a lot of trouble... I don't know, like they have a tough schedule coming up. The Bills are next. I think this is just gonna be chalk it up to the season from hell.
Big Cat is entering his annual "nervous watch" period where he stops making jokes about the Packers because he realizes they might actually be good.
I'm officially on nervous watch that the Packers are going to make a run
I'm officially on—I'm nervous watch. I'm nervous that they're [the Packers] going to make a run. I change my—Packers fans know me well enough that I start to change my tone when I start to get really nervous... knowing that they're better than [their record].
On the other side of the division, the Lions continue to be the gold standard. They didn't even have their best offensive day against the Colts and still didn't allow a single touchdown for the tenth straight quarter.
The Detroit Lions are the best team in football
Until further notice, they're my team. Until they have a stinker of a game, I'm just gonna blindly believe that the Detroit Lions are gonna steamroll everyone... they are the best team in football.
Sunday Night Statements and the MVP Hunt
Max joined the show from Philly to gloat about the Eagles’ absolute thrashing of the Rams. Saquon Barkley went for over 250 total yards, and at this point, it’s getting hard to deny his value to a team that looks just as dangerous as Detroit.
Saquon Barkley deserves to be in the MVP conversation
Saquon Barkley deserves to be in the MVP conversation. He's incredible. I mean that is abundantly clear at this point. They're just kicking the shit out of everybody.
Max even went as far as to challenge the national media's obsession with the Lions, questioning if Detroit actually has a better unit than Philly anywhere on the field.
The Lions are not clearly better than the Eagles
Everyone's been anointing the Lions the winners of the NFC. I would like to know why, what makes the Lions so much better than the Eagles at this point? What unit is better than the Eagles?
Who’s Back and College Football Chaos
To wrap things up, the guys looked ahead to a massive Feast Week. With the SEC elite like Alabama and Ole Miss falling flat on their faces over the weekend, the College Football Playoff picture is a total mess. PFT is drawing a hard line in the sand regarding three-loss teams, while Big Cat is ready to go to war for the Hoosiers.
I will fight anyone who says Indiana shouldn't be in the playoff
I will fucking fight. If you find someone online who's saying Indiana should not be in the college football playoff—tag me snitch. Tag 'em. I just—I wanna fight 'em.
Don't put any three-loss teams in the College Football Playoff
Don't put a team in that has that number three in the loss column. Don't... I don't want to see the dash three on a playoff team in college football.
If you see anyone talking trash about Indiana on the timeline this week, just know Big Cat is lurking in the mentions.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone except the person who keeps reporting our memes.
