Brad Marchand is a lock for the Hall of Fame

That's why I believe he's a hall of famer is because he was one of the best clutch wingers in the game for a significant almost a decade... Brad Marchand [is] the leader in Stanley Cup finals goals [among active players].

Marchand is still active, so HOF status is pending retirement.

I think that next year... it's the last year of his contract. ... I wouldn't be shocked if he scores another 30 goals, but if he continues to slow down, it's just hard in today's day and age to keep up... I could see him after next year going back to the KHL and, and playing one more year and, and really having his final Swan song.

Jordan Binnington is going to go into Boston and steal a game

I still think that Binnington has to steal one game this series where he stands on his head. And I said that yesterday's podcast that dropped this morning, that I have a feeling that he's going to go into Boston and steal a game.

Binnington made 32 saves in a legendary Game 7 performance in Boston to clinch the title.

The St. Louis Blues will win the Stanley Cup in six games

My assumption is that [the St. Louis Blues] are going to get the job done. I picked Blues in six.

The Blues did win the Stanley Cup, but it took seven games, not six.

Tom Izzo's coaching intensity is acceptable and challenges players to battle through adversity

I think that there's a line and [Tom Izzo] didn't cross it... he challenged you. There were some days where I'd go home and I'd have higher anxiety... but it turned me into the person I am today. You have to go through things like that... if you want to be coddled it's going to be a very tough life ahead.

The appropriateness of coaching styles is a matter of debate.

Calgary and Winnipeg are the only Canadian teams with a realistic shot at winning the Stanley Cup

Calgary and Winnipeg are the only teams who have a shot. I don't think that Toronto's going to beat Boston first round.

Boston did beat Toronto in the first round. However, neither Calgary nor Winnipeg won the Stanley Cup (St. Louis did).

Fighting is dead in hockey because social justice warriors have taken over and influenced the league

Fighting is dead in hockey... all these social justice warriors have kind of taken over and directed the league in a certain way. I feel bad for league officials... because it's just a constant barrage of people bitching about everything.

While fighting has statistically declined, the causes are a mix of player safety, speed, and analytics, making the 'SJW' cause a subjective interpretation.

I would rather take punches to the face than have to block shots as a career... I'd like to take punches to the face rather than block shots. I was one of those guys where I just didn't like doing it, and sometimes I would flamingo.

Jalen Ramsey could make it to the fourth tier of professional hockey with six months of training

If [Ramsey] had six months of elite training... I think that he could maybe make the [SPHL]... based off his athleticism... mentally he wouldn't understand the game much.

Ramsey never attempted professional hockey, but the physical jump to any pro level is extremely high.

NHL parity is what makes it superior to all other major sports

To me, the parity is what strengthens the NHL over all the other major sports... things are constantly shaken up because of those rules... in the NBA, it's just like, hey, who's going to play the Warriors?

Whether parity makes a sport 'superior' is entirely subjective.

I kind of want to see him [Jalen Ramsey]. I want to teach him. I want to be his coach. I love how cornerbacks talk trash and obviously he was just doing it to stir the pot... but I'm over here like, man, I kind of want to see him try.

Vladimir Putin hands out unlimited credit cards to high-end Russian hockey players

I've just heard some rumblings, and it's been confirmed by a few guys that, like, Putin basically hands out credit cards to all these high-end Russian hockey players like Malkin and Ovechkin. Where basically they could just go, like if you say they want to pop bottles one night, they just go, they just put it on the Russian credit card.

While documented that Russian oligarchs heavily fund hockey, the specific 'unlimited credit card' for individuals is an unverified but widely discussed urban legend in hockey.

Assuming that 50% of MLB players are taking Adderall

I have spoken to people in baseball, and the assumption is right around 50%. Now, I don't know what the rules are as far as if you just get a doctor to prescribe it, it's fine by MLB... obviously, if you're taking it and you have not done the proper steps to tell the league that you are taking it, you can get in trouble.

While 50% is unverified, MLB has historically had very high rates of TUEs for ADHD medication compared to the general population, with over 100 players often having exemptions in a given year.

LeBron James' tears after winning the Cleveland championship were fake

I'm not a huge LeBron fan. I feel like he's very calculated. I felt like when he cried after he won it for Cleveland, he felt like he had to cry because MJ cried when he came back and did his thing and it made it emotional. Fake tears.

Inherently subjective; one cannot prove or disprove the sincerity of another's tears.

The Blackhawks core will be fine after a full summer to recharge

That core group of players has played a lot of hockey over the last eight or nine years... they're not getting that summer, the proper summer training where you're playing catch up... I think these guys need a full summer, hit the recharge button. I think they're going to be okay.

The Blackhawks did not recover to their previous elite status; they missed the playoffs again in 2019 and remained a middling/rebuilding team for years after.

I mean, the only thing I don't like about basketball is just like it's pretty predictable who's going to the conference final. It's never really a surprise. So it's just the first round's a joke. Does anyone even pay attention until the conference finals?

In 2017, the 1 and 2 seeds in both conferences reached the Conference Finals. It was highly predictable.

LeBron James feels scripted and forced compared to the cool cockiness of Michael Jordan

I respect [LeBron] as an athlete... I just feel like he's a little scripted. Everything he does is calculated where I feel like people compare him to Jordan where I'm like, Jordan was so much cooler. He just carried that cool cockiness where I feel like, it's forced by LeBron.

This is a subjective opinion on athlete personality.

NHL superstars like Sidney Crosby get better treatment from refs and can bully linesmen into letting them cheat on face-offs

Typically superstars do get a better treatment just because they can bully linesmen a lot more than say no namers... Whereas if Joe Thornton's like, 'Hey, drop the fucking puck when I want it,' he'll be like... 'Hey Michael [Jordan], I didn't see it, but I'm going to call it now.' It's very similar to that.

A common observation in professional sports, though impossible to prove definitively via data.

The 'glowing puck' ruined the NHL and likely caused the 2004-05 lockout

The glowing puck, did they get rid of that because it was easier to play defense? I think they took the non-hockey followers word too seriously and kind of ruined the game. I really think that's probably why the lockout happened.

It is easier for the US to win an Olympic gold medal than for a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup

I would probably say it's easier to win an Olympic gold medal in hockey than it would be to win a Stanley Cup just based on how hard it is... if you have a good two weeks at the Olympics and all your lines are clicking, you get a gold. So I would say U.S. winning gold.

At the time of writing, a Canadian team still hasn't won a Cup (since 1993), and the US hasn't won Gold (since 1980). Both remain difficult.
