Tom Flacco has a bright future and will eventually become an elite quarterback

Joe is big, pocket passer. Tom [Flacco] is a little bit smaller, incredibly competitive, and more of a runner. But he's got an incredible arm. He's become very accurate. And the future is bright with Tom Flacco.

Tom Flacco was a very successful college QB at Towson (finalist for the Walter Payton Award) but did not become an elite professional quarterback, only briefly appearing on NFL practice squads/rosters.

Charlie Strong will lose the Red River Shootout and be fired within a week.

That means he's basically got six days. That means – He's going to lose the Red River shootout and he's going to get fired... This is the worst thing to have your athletic director say. 'We will not fire him this year.' That basically says you're going to get fired in a week.

Texas did lose the Red River Shootout to Oklahoma (45-40), but Charlie Strong was not fired the following week; he coached until the end of the season.

The ACC is officially back and the SEC is dead

I think the ACC is back, gentlemen. The ACC is back. The SEC is dead and continues to be dead.

The ACC did have a great year with Clemson winning the National Championship in 2016, but the SEC was far from dead, with Alabama remaining the standard-bearer.

The Miami Hurricanes are officially 'back'

The U is back. Of Miami. Okay. The U is back. They have three huge wins against Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, and Appalachian State. So 3-0 to start the season. I think they're definitely back.

Miami finished the season 9-4. While a good season, it didn't signal a return to their championship-level glory days.

Mississippi State will beat UMass 35-14

I still think Mississippi State gets the W, but I think it'll be closer than the experts think. I'm going 35-14.

Mississippi State beat UMass 47-35 on September 24, 2016. He got the winner right but the score spread was closer than 35-14.

Wisconsin is the mediocre pushover neighbor of college football

Wisconsin's never back. They're never gone. They're just there. We literally are just like the neighbor who you can be like, hey, can I borrow your lawnmower and just not give it back for three months? And you know he's never going to come ask. It's a total pushover.

Wisconsin finished 11-3 and won the Cotton Bowl in 2016, which is actually one of their better seasons, slightly contradicting the 'mediocre' label.

My top five teams for 2016 are Alabama, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Michigan, and the winner of Arkansas vs. Ole Miss

The top five in the countdown was Alabama, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Michigan... And then I had Arkansas Ole Miss.

Notre Dame finished 4-8, Texas A&M 8-5, and Ole Miss 5-7. Only Alabama and Michigan were truly top-tier teams.

The 2003 Fiesta Bowl was won by a bad call in regulation, not the controversial pass interference in overtime

Go back to the film and look at the end of regulation when they said Chris Gamble didn't stay in bounds or whatever. The game should have ended in regulation. So the real bad call was that one... I think if you look at it [the PI call], the guy was mugged.

The Gamble catch is still a legendary point of contention; Miami fans believe the PI call was the error, while Tressel argues the catch was the missed call.

Bret Bielema is succeeding at Arkansas more than I expected

I was a skeptic when they hired Bret Bielema because in the SEC, Arkansas is not going to out-recruit Alabama and Auburn and LSU. ... But I got to say, Bielema has proven me wrong a few times. ... He's succeeding more than I thought he would there.

Bielema's tenure ultimately ended in disappointment, with him being fired in 2017 after a 4-8 season, but at the time of the take (2016), he was coming off 7 and 8 win seasons.
