Nick Sirianni and Dianna Russini on Super Bowl Wins and QB Dominoes

The NFL offseason is officially in fifth gear as the QB carousel started spinning this weekend. Matthew Stafford decided he's not done with the Hollywood lifestyle quite yet, opting to stay with the Rams on a new two-year deal. Big Cat pointed out that this was the move that always made the most sense for everyone involved.

Matthew Stafford staying with the Rams makes the most sense because they still have a Super Bowl window

Matthew Stafford staying in Los Angeles with the Rams... I always, always thought made the most sense because the Rams were, you could make the argument like they, they played the Eagles the toughest in, in the playoffs. It feels like they still have a window with Matthew Stafford. I think it's a two-year deal.

Stafford signed a 1-year extension in July 2024 to keep him under contract through 2026, though the 'two-year' phrasing here refers to the remaining window.

With Stafford staying put, the focus shifts to the Jets' former savior. PFT thinks Aaron Rodgers already has a destination in mind, and he's not planning on traveling alone.

Aaron Rodgers will try to bring Davante Adams with him to the Raiders

Aaron Rogers will go. Raiders. I've heard that he's trying to bring Davante [Adams] with him again. So he has a wishlist. And I feel like if I were Aaron, I would just wanna stay in New York and just go to the other locker room.

Aaron Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, not the Raiders. Adams was also not part of the Steelers' plans in this scenario.

While the QB talk dominated, the Commanders made a splash by trading a fifth-round pick for Deebo Samuel. PFT was absolutely buzzing in the group chat about it, though Max tried to rain on the parade by reminding everyone he actually won a Super Bowl ring recently. PFT isn't hearing it, especially considering the price tag for a weapon like Deebo.

The Commanders fleeced the 49ers in the Deebo Samuel trade

I was pumped about the Deebo News... Deebo is very fun to watch when he's in good shape. Fifth round pick? Fleeced.

Whether it was a 'fleece' depends on Deebo's performance in Washington vs. what San Francisco does with the pick.

This is March

We finally made it to the best month on the sports calendar. Big Cat is currently riding an 8-0 heater in his college basketball bets and is terrified of the moment Hank decides to fade him. After watching the weekend's action, specifically Auburn dismantling Kentucky, the hierarchy at the top feels very top-heavy.

Auburn and Duke are the only two teams capable of winning the National Championship this year

Auburn is just really fucking good... They went into Kentucky and they whooped the shit out of Kentucky. I keep trying to figure out who else could win. And it's gonna be Auburn and Duke.

Neither Auburn nor Duke won the National Championship. Florida (a 1-seed) won the title, beating Houston in the final. Both Auburn and Duke lost in the Final Four.

As the bubble starts to shrink, the guys are already bracing for the Selection Committee to make some questionable choices. Big Cat is planting his flag now for the mid-major darlings.

Drake deserves an at-large NCAA Tournament bid no matter what happens in their conference tournament

Texas does not to be deserved to be in. They're bad if like Drake gets kept out instead of Texas. If Drake doesn't win their conference, I'll be very upset. I'm gonna say it right now. Drake deserves to be in no matter what.

Drake did make the 2025 NCAA Tournament but via automatic bid (winning the MVC tournament), not an at-large bid. They were a #11 seed and beat Missouri in the first round. The take was about deserving an at-large bid, which became moot since they won their conference.

Over in the NBA, LeBron James sparked a massive debate by claiming nobody should want to be the "face of the league" because the media is too mean. Big Cat isn't buying the victim act, noting that the title usually comes with a very specific prerequisite.

You must win a championship to be considered the face of the NBA

When has there ever been a face of a league that didn't win? Right. You have to win when it matters. You have to win a championship to be considered a face of this league. Agreed. It's not. And obviously if you win, that doesn't automatically mean you're the face of the league.

The definition of 'face of the league' is subjective but historically tracks with MVPs and champions.

Nick Sirianni on Immortality and Italian Vibes

Fresh off a Super Bowl parade, Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni joined the show to talk about the grind of the NFL and why he decided to shave his head mid-season. He went deep on the "Tush Push" and why it's a compliment that everyone is trying to ban it. He also gave some massive props to his GM for keeping the cupboard stocked with talent.

Howie Roseman is the best General Manager in the world

Howie does a great job of that. Yeah. So it, it, it's, it's making my life easier and easier. Every move that he makes, it's awesome. I love it. Yeah. I love it. I love It's the best. It's the best. Yeah. It's, it's the absolute best. He's the, he's the best GM in the world. I have no doubt in my mind.

Roseman is widely regarded as an elite GM, but 'best in the world' is a subjective rank.

Things got interesting when the conversation turned to Saquon Barkley. Sirianni might be the biggest Saquon fan on the planet, but he struggled with the math when Big Cat asked if he was a better player or human.

Saquon Barkley is a better football player than he is a human being, simply because he is a top-10 player in the world

[Saquon] is an unbelievable person... top 1% human worldwide. [Big Cat: He's a better football player.] There's more people in the world than there is human beings. He's a top-10 football player. I'd say the top like thousand human beings... He's a better football player than human being. You just admitted it.

This is a humorous and subjective comparison of athletic skill vs. character.

Scoop City with Dianna Russini

Dianna Russini stopped by the setup at the Combine to dish on the latest rumors. She addressed the friction between the Jets and Aaron Rodgers, specifically regarding his Tuesday appearances on the Pat McAfee Show. It sounds like the Jets were ready for a bit more focus and a lot less "distraction."

The Jets are disgusted with Aaron Rodgers and want him to cut back on the Pat McAfee Show distractions

The Jets disgusted with Aaron Rodgers... How are we gonna do this Pat McAfee thing? We would really like you to cut back on a lot of this stuff, the distractions so we could all be one, keep it all out. New chapter, new New York Jets.

This is reporting on internal organizational sentiment, which is difficult to independently verify but aligns with subsequent reporting of tension.

Looking ahead to the draft, Dianna expects a few teams to be extremely aggressive. The Giants are a team to watch as they look for a spark, potentially eyeing a move into the top of the order.

The New York Giants will be aggressive in trying to trade up with the Titans for a quarterback

I think the Giants are gonna try to get up. To trade out with the Titans. I think they're gonna be aggressive in this. They're obviously also keeping their eye on Stafford and, and Tennessee is open for business. Like, I, I think the approach that they are gonna have headed into this is we need to get some picks.

The Giants did not trade up with the Titans. The Titans selected Cam Ward #1 overall. The Giants did not trade up for a quarterback in the 2025 draft; they drafted QB Jaxson Dart later.

We wrapped up with a heated debate about the NFL's obsession with playing games in London and beyond. While Dianna is open to the global expansion, Big Cat and PFT are holding the line for domestic soil.

The NFL should never hold a Super Bowl abroad because it belongs to America

The NFL can't do a Super Bowl abroad. Can you make sure that doesn't happen? It sucks. It's our game. It would suck ass. Don't do that. No, it's our game. It's America's game. You can't give the game to another country.

This is a subjective opinion on the league's direction.

If the NFL tries to put a Super Bowl in Italy, we’re going to need a lot more than a space heater and a sheet for privacy to handle that trip.

The Celtics' loss to the Cavaliers was a 'statement loss' that will motivate them for the playoffs

A fully healthy Celtics team is not loose to the Cavs. It was an absolute ref show, but it was, it was. I mean it's good. It's, it's a, Mazzulla loves those games. He loves having things that he can use to motivate the team and and losing to a team that's gonna have a better record than them going into the playoffs like that. That's good. That was a good statement loss.

Whether a loss provides 'motivation' is unmeasurable.

Bill Belichick's Hard Knocks at UNC will be a massive recruiting commercial for the Tar Heels

I'm actually excited to watch this. Yeah. I wanna see it is gonna be a giant commercial for UNC. That's the reason why he's doing it. Obviously. Smart. It's smart. It's very smart. You get a lot of publicity. Guys wanna come play for you.

Whether Hard Knocks served as a recruiting tool for UNC is subjective and depends on recruiting data not readily available.

The Eagles will take a big swing to trade for Miles Garrett this off-season

I think Philly's gonna try to go hard here. I think Howie is going to make some decisions here in free agency and, and determine who he can live without. And, and I think some of these guys that are up, he's gonna be comfortable walking away from. But I think you make those kind of moves and you, you take a big swing for, for someone like Miles Garrett.

The Eagles did not trade for Myles Garrett. Despite significant interest and rumors, the Browns kept Garrett and eventually signed him to a mega extension ($40M/year through 2030).

The New England Patriots will be Super Bowl contenders by 2026

New England right now... This is a gigantic off season for the New England Patriots for the future. Like, I, I don't, I don't think they're gonna be that great next year. But I think it's 2026. Right. Where I think that's, that's where it's gonna to They're gonna be, they're gonna be contenders. They're, they're gonna be guys that are going have giving Josh Allen a problem.

This will resolve at the end of the 2026 NFL season.

Miles Garrett wants to leave Cleveland because he doesn't believe in the Browns' plan

Miles wants to get paid... but he really wants to win. Like he's got this attitude like, it's not happening here in Cleveland. Like, I don't like your plan and I think we could all agree that the plan's not great.

This is a report on a player's private mindset and frustration with an organization.

The Cowboys had 'backdoor' interest in Bill Belichick and 'light flirting' with Deion Sanders during their coaching search

I'd heard that Dallas had some feelers out to [Belichick]... And then that story came out about Deion Sanders... everyone that I trust was like, this is not real... obviously panned out to just be light flirting.

These were exploratory conversations that did not result in hires.
