Nick Sirianni and Dianna Russini on Super Bowl Wins and QB Dominoes
The NFL offseason is officially in fifth gear as the QB carousel started spinning this weekend. Matthew Stafford decided he's not done with the Hollywood lifestyle quite yet, opting to stay with the Rams on a new two-year deal. Big Cat pointed out that this was the move that always made the most sense for everyone involved.
Matthew Stafford staying with the Rams makes the most sense because they still have a Super Bowl window
Matthew Stafford staying in Los Angeles with the Rams... I always, always thought made the most sense because the Rams were, you could make the argument like they, they played the Eagles the toughest in, in the playoffs. It feels like they still have a window with Matthew Stafford. I think it's a two-year deal.
With Stafford staying put, the focus shifts to the Jets' former savior. PFT thinks Aaron Rodgers already has a destination in mind, and he's not planning on traveling alone.
Aaron Rodgers will try to bring Davante Adams with him to the Raiders
Aaron Rogers will go. Raiders. I've heard that he's trying to bring Davante [Adams] with him again. So he has a wishlist. And I feel like if I were Aaron, I would just wanna stay in New York and just go to the other locker room.
While the QB talk dominated, the Commanders made a splash by trading a fifth-round pick for Deebo Samuel. PFT was absolutely buzzing in the group chat about it, though Max tried to rain on the parade by reminding everyone he actually won a Super Bowl ring recently. PFT isn't hearing it, especially considering the price tag for a weapon like Deebo.
The Commanders fleeced the 49ers in the Deebo Samuel trade
I was pumped about the Deebo News... Deebo is very fun to watch when he's in good shape. Fifth round pick? Fleeced.
This is March
We finally made it to the best month on the sports calendar. Big Cat is currently riding an 8-0 heater in his college basketball bets and is terrified of the moment Hank decides to fade him. After watching the weekend's action, specifically Auburn dismantling Kentucky, the hierarchy at the top feels very top-heavy.
Auburn and Duke are the only two teams capable of winning the National Championship this year
Auburn is just really fucking good... They went into Kentucky and they whooped the shit out of Kentucky. I keep trying to figure out who else could win. And it's gonna be Auburn and Duke.
As the bubble starts to shrink, the guys are already bracing for the Selection Committee to make some questionable choices. Big Cat is planting his flag now for the mid-major darlings.
Drake deserves an at-large NCAA Tournament bid no matter what happens in their conference tournament
Texas does not to be deserved to be in. They're bad if like Drake gets kept out instead of Texas. If Drake doesn't win their conference, I'll be very upset. I'm gonna say it right now. Drake deserves to be in no matter what.
Over in the NBA, LeBron James sparked a massive debate by claiming nobody should want to be the "face of the league" because the media is too mean. Big Cat isn't buying the victim act, noting that the title usually comes with a very specific prerequisite.
You must win a championship to be considered the face of the NBA
When has there ever been a face of a league that didn't win? Right. You have to win when it matters. You have to win a championship to be considered a face of this league. Agreed. It's not. And obviously if you win, that doesn't automatically mean you're the face of the league.
Nick Sirianni on Immortality and Italian Vibes
Fresh off a Super Bowl parade, Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni joined the show to talk about the grind of the NFL and why he decided to shave his head mid-season. He went deep on the "Tush Push" and why it's a compliment that everyone is trying to ban it. He also gave some massive props to his GM for keeping the cupboard stocked with talent.
Howie Roseman is the best General Manager in the world
Howie does a great job of that. Yeah. So it, it, it's, it's making my life easier and easier. Every move that he makes, it's awesome. I love it. Yeah. I love it. I love It's the best. It's the best. Yeah. It's, it's the absolute best. He's the, he's the best GM in the world. I have no doubt in my mind.
Things got interesting when the conversation turned to Saquon Barkley. Sirianni might be the biggest Saquon fan on the planet, but he struggled with the math when Big Cat asked if he was a better player or human.
Saquon Barkley is a better football player than he is a human being, simply because he is a top-10 player in the world
[Saquon] is an unbelievable person... top 1% human worldwide. [Big Cat: He's a better football player.] There's more people in the world than there is human beings. He's a top-10 football player. I'd say the top like thousand human beings... He's a better football player than human being. You just admitted it.
Scoop City with Dianna Russini
Dianna Russini stopped by the setup at the Combine to dish on the latest rumors. She addressed the friction between the Jets and Aaron Rodgers, specifically regarding his Tuesday appearances on the Pat McAfee Show. It sounds like the Jets were ready for a bit more focus and a lot less "distraction."
The Jets are disgusted with Aaron Rodgers and want him to cut back on the Pat McAfee Show distractions
The Jets disgusted with Aaron Rodgers... How are we gonna do this Pat McAfee thing? We would really like you to cut back on a lot of this stuff, the distractions so we could all be one, keep it all out. New chapter, new New York Jets.
Looking ahead to the draft, Dianna expects a few teams to be extremely aggressive. The Giants are a team to watch as they look for a spark, potentially eyeing a move into the top of the order.
The New York Giants will be aggressive in trying to trade up with the Titans for a quarterback
I think the Giants are gonna try to get up. To trade out with the Titans. I think they're gonna be aggressive in this. They're obviously also keeping their eye on Stafford and, and Tennessee is open for business. Like, I, I think the approach that they are gonna have headed into this is we need to get some picks.
We wrapped up with a heated debate about the NFL's obsession with playing games in London and beyond. While Dianna is open to the global expansion, Big Cat and PFT are holding the line for domestic soil.
The NFL should never hold a Super Bowl abroad because it belongs to America
The NFL can't do a Super Bowl abroad. Can you make sure that doesn't happen? It sucks. It's our game. It would suck ass. Don't do that. No, it's our game. It's America's game. You can't give the game to another country.
If the NFL tries to put a Super Bowl in Italy, we’re going to need a lot more than a space heater and a sheet for privacy to handle that trip.
