NFL Week 10: Vikings/Bills GOTY, Jeff Saturday Wins, and Packers Off the Mat
NFL Week 10 delivered what everyone is already calling the game of the year in Buffalo. Between the fourth-down heroics, the end-zone fumbles, and Kirk Cousins somehow surviving a one-inch line disaster, it was pure chaos. Big Cat and PFT had to give credit where it's due, even if it pained them to admit the Vikings might actually be for real. Justin Jefferson solidified himself as the clear-cut alpha at his position with a catch that defied physics.
Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in the NFL
Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in the NFL and, and I'm confident in saying that what he did in that game, the catches he made, the fourth down catch he made was one of the craziest catches I've ever seen.
Despite the win, Big Cat isn't ready to call them a juggernaut just yet. There’s a certain level of luck involved in this eight-and-one start that feels a bit precarious as we head toward the postseason.
The Vikings aren't total frauds, but they are "fraudulent adjacent"
I don't believe that the Vikings are complete and total frauds. I think that they're partially frauds. They're fraudulent adjacent. I am worried that they would get to the NFC championship game... because the way the NFC is shaking out, it feels like if the Vikings will get that second seed and whoever is the seven seed is going to be a team that we think about as like, 'ooh, watch out for them.'
On the other side, Josh Allen continues to be the most exhilarating and terrifying player in football. He makes throws no one else can, but the late-game interceptions are starting to pile up. For Big Cat, it’s just part of the bargain you make when you have a quarterback who plays like a runaway freight train.
Making mistakes is just part of the Josh Allen experience and you have to let him play freely
That's just the Josh Allen experience because what he does well, you have to let him play freely. I as, as bad as those look, I do believe in... you take the good with the bad and sometimes there are some bad throws, but that's just how he play. Like you can't, you can't put him in a box. If he stopped, if he stopped playing recklessly, it would, I mean it would take away all the joy of watching Josh.
The Justin Fields Era and AFC East Dominance
In Chicago, the Bears might have lost to the Lions, but the vibe shift is permanent. Justin Fields is making history every week with his legs, and the guys are finally ready to plant the flag. The pick-six was brutal, but the overall progression is undeniable.
Justin Fields is not a fluke and is officially the guy for the Bears
Justin Fields has been looking phenomenal. He looked phenomenal again today... It's not a fluke. It's becoming, this is what he is. I can't wait to see some more top end talent around him because he is kind of carrying everything right now.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are a wagon. Mike McDaniel has figured out a system that breaks NFL defenses by simply being faster than them. PFT noted that Tua is thriving because the scheme essentially hacks the defensive rulebook by forcing pass interference calls or deep strikes.
The new "Moneyball" is pairing fast wide receivers with quarterbacks who only have 95% arm strength
I think that's what Mike McDaniel learned. He's like, we can absolutely hack the rule book if you just run faster than everyone and then probably maybe get underthrown just a little bit... and then you start working your way back to the ball you get interfered with. I'm just saying... that is the new Moneyball. It's just fast, fast wide receivers with like 95% arm strength quarterbacks.
Big Cat is even leaning into the Tua MVP hype, mostly because of the chaos it would cause for Dolphins history.
If Tua wins a Super Bowl, he will be the greatest Dolphins quarterback ever just because it would piss off Dan Marino
I'm rooting for Tua more than anything to win a Super Bowl because it would really piss Dan Marino off. He would instantly become the best quarterback in the history of the Miami Dolphins. Easily over Dan Marino. He's a two. Dan Marino's a one [in our wins-based rating system].
Dysfunction in Vegas and the Saturday Miracle
Jeff Saturday went from his couch to the sidelines and immediately beat the Raiders, which says everything you need to know about Josh McDaniels. Big Cat and PFT couldn't get over the fact that a guy with zero coaching experience looked more competent than a guy who has been in the league for decades. McDaniels' tenure in Vegas is reaching a breaking point.
Josh McDaniels is the worst coach in the NFL
And then he's just been objectively by the numbers terrible. 7-24 [as a head coach]. The worst coach in the nfl. So very bad coach. McDaniels bad coach.
Speaking of Vegas, the situation has become so dire that Derek Carr was crying at the podium. While Carr gets a lot of heat, Big Cat sees a world where a change of scenery does him wonders.
Derek Carr will eventually leave the Raiders for a new team and find success like Matthew Stafford
I wouldn't hate seeing Derek Carr in a year or two getting one of those like Matthew Stafford... getting a team. I, I've reached the point where I, I honestly do feel bad for Derek Carr... anywhere except for there. Like just get him out. He seems like a genuine guy. People like him.
The NFC North and South Landscape
Tom Brady and the Bucs went to Germany and actually looked like a football team again. The running game showed life, and the defense was suffocating. Big Cat is looking at their remaining schedule and seeing a path to double-digit wins.
The Buccaneers will win 10 games and host a home playoff game
The Bucks now have everything in front of them where if they don't totally fuck up, we're gonna be sitting here. They're gonna have a home playoff game in January. [Based on their schedule] They're a 10 win team.
Lastly, the Packers might have saved their season against the Cowboys. Christian Watson finally arrived, and Aaron Rodgers found a way to win as a home dog. It was a classic Mike McCarthy meltdown return to Lambeau, and Big Cat is officially worried about a Green Bay resurgence.
The Packers are off the mat and will go on a run
The Packers are now officially off the mat. Yeah. We we told you that Aaron Rogers... and now I'm very nervous that they're off the mat, gonna turn a corner, all that shit. Fully expecting the Packers to go on a run now.
With the Rams officially cooked and the Saints stuck in Andy Dalton purgatory, the NFC is wide open for anyone who can string together three weeks of competent play.
Always remember to check your piss after a long Sunday of football.
