NFL Week 16: Commanders Stun Eagles, Chiefs Dynasty, and CFP First Round Reaction
Week 16 is in the books, and we’re officially entering that beautiful, chaotic time of the year where the NFL and College Football overlap into one giant blur of betting slips and bad punts. The weekend kicked off with the Chiefs doing exactly what they always do: finding a way to win. Despite Patrick Mahomes dealing with a bum ankle, Kansas City handled the Texans 27-19 to move to 14-1. While everyone else tries to find flaws in their game, Big Cat is ready to crown them already.
The Chiefs are going to win the Super Bowl again
The Kansas City Chiefs are going to do it again. They're gonna win the Super Bowl. They're 14 and one and everything is rounding into shape exactly as we expected and exactly as they always planned.
On the other side of that matchup, the Texans are feeling the pain. Losing Tank Dell to a horrific leg injury while he was literally holding onto the ball for a catch was brutal. It feels like the air has been let out of the balloon for Houston.
I don't have any hopes for the Texans to make an impact in the AFC playoffs
I just, I don't have any, any hopes for the Texans to make any type of impact on the AFC playoffs. No, that was a tough, tough loss when Tank Dell went down.
The NFC East Chaos and the "What If" Game
The biggest game of the Sunday slate was undoubtedly the Commanders taking down the Eagles 36-33 in a game that had Max pacing outside the studio. Jalen Hurts went out for a concussion check—which he signaled with a thumbs up that Max is convinced was a "get me back in" sign—and Kenny Pickett had to step in. PFT was riding high on the Jayden Daniels wave, despite the rookie throwing two late picks that almost gave the game away.
If Jalen Hurts plays the whole game, the Eagles definitely win against the Commanders
I don't think that Kenny Pickett is the reason the Eagles lost that game. I think if Jalen Hurts plays the whole game, the Eagles definitely win that game.
Max remains adamant that the defense allowing 22 points in the fourth quarter and special teams disasters were the real culprits, but the Eagles have officially lost the one seed. Meanwhile, the Commanders are sitting at a 93% chance to make the playoffs, and we are on a collision course for a potential PFT vs. Max postseason matchup that might actually end in a legal proceeding.
The North is Wide Open
Up in the AFC North, Joe Burrow is playing like a man possessed. He’s the first quarterback in NFL history to have seven consecutive games with 3 TDs and 250+ yards. Jamar Chase is also on the verge of making history himself.
Jamar Chase will win the NFL Triple Crown for receiving
Jamar Chase, I believe will get the Triple Crown. He leads the NFL in receptions... receiving yards... and touchdown catches. For 16 Triple Crown. So he is defeated everybody in the NFL, including himself.
While the Bengals are fighting for their lives, the Browns are basically unwatchable with DTR at quarterback. Myles Garrett reached 100 sacks before turning 29, but he’s doing it for a team that looks destined for another reset. PFT thinks it’s time to let the man play for a winner.
The Browns should trade Myles Garrett instead of making him suffer through a rebuild
I say trade him [Myles Garrett]. I wouldn't wanna do that [stay for a rebuild] if I were him. Hell no. Set him free. He should not, I wouldn't wanna do that if, again, if I were him.
Over in the NFC North, the Vikings continue to be the most disrespected 12-win team in history. Sam Darnold is making throws that the Jets never dreamed of, and Kevin O'Connell has turned them into a one-possession-game juggernaut.
Kevin O'Connell should be the NFL Coach of the Year
Kevin O'Connell should be Coach of the Year. He's now 25 and nine in one possession games, which is second best in NFL history for a head coach. He should be Coach of the year for what he's done with his team and for what he is done with Sam Darnold.
Big Cat isn't just impressed with the coaching; he thinks the Vikings are legitimately a championship-caliber team if the bracket falls their way.
The Vikings are a serious threat to win the Super Bowl if they get the one seed
The Vikings control their own destiny for the one seed. They are a serious threat in the playoffs. Especially if they get that one seed. I feel like there's gonna be a lot of casual NFL fans who if the Vikings went out, they'd be like, wait, what the hell? I thought the Lions had the one seed.
College Football Playoff First Round Reactions
The first weekend of the 12-team playoff was a bit of a mixed bag. Hank was quick to point out that most of the games were blowouts, resembling a Week 1 non-conference slate rather than a high-stakes tournament. However, Big Cat is preaching patience with the new format.
The 12-team playoff made the college football season significantly more fun
Remember the college football playoff going to 12 teams, in my opinion, made this season so much more fun. Like we had weekends that didn't have, that would not have meant anything, mean something.
One person who didn't earn any respect this weekend was Indiana's Curt Cignetti. For a guy who talks as much trash as he does, punting at midfield while down 20+ points was a tough look.
Curt Cignetti is a coward for punting while down 20 points at midfield
Curt Cignetti biggest coward pussy of all time. You can't talk shit on game day being like, whenever we play a top 25 team, we beat the shit out of him and then punt down 20 points, 20 plus points on midfield. Like what a pussy.
Who's Back: Charlie Woods and Rickey Henderson
To wrap things up, we looked at the PNC Championship where Charlie Woods hit a hole-in-one and almost stole the show. However, the legendary Bernhard Langer used his veteran savvy (and the senior tees) to take home another win.
Bernard Langer is a 'hustler' for using the senior tees to win the PNC Championship
This guy's a hustler, but yeah. Charlie Woods sick hole one. He gets an initial like 120 yards on every drive. I'd have too much pride to do that. I wouldn't hit from those tees.
We also took a moment to remember the GOAT of lead-off hitters, Rickey Henderson. Between the stolen base records and the incredible stories of him referring to himself in the third person, there will never be another like him.
Rickey Henderson is the best lead-off hitter of all time
Rickey Henderson... was such a awesome, awesome baseball player to watch. All his base stealing records are just insane... Best lead off hitter of all time. All his base stealing records are just insane. They're the stats that you can look up and be like, it would, oh, it would take somebody like 30 years.
