This phone in my hand is the one I used to tweet that Miles Garrett committed assault

I really believe that this is the assault phone. It would be my honor to give you this phone... You can hang it on the wall.

Schefter later hedges saying it needs to be 'authenticated' but maintains belief it is the same device.

Miles Garrett will cost at least two first-round picks if the Browns trade him

If you go back and look at what the Bears gave up for Khalil Mack, it was two firsts. It was a third, a fifth... To me that's the most fair comp there is out there right now.

The trade hasn't happened yet, so compensation cannot be verified.

Brock Purdy's next contract might not reach Dak Prescott's numbers

Is it gonna be the Dak Prescott contract? It's not, I don't expect it to be. Is it gonna be a fair contract? I would think it would be. They have to pay him... But if Brock Purdy doesn't like that deal, I don't know how far the Niners can go. And then the Niners can just say, okay, guess what? We have your rights this year for 5 million. We could franchise tag you next year.

Contract negotiations for Purdy are expected to happen in the 2025 offseason.

The NFL will eventually sell a 12 to 16-game international broadcast package

They get to an 18 game schedule and then the league can take a 12, 14, 16 game international package and sell that... I think that's where it's gonna go.

This is a long-term projection for the league's next media cycle.

Matthew Stafford's next team will be either the Giants, Rams, or Raiders

I really don't know right now because it's kind of a coin flip kind of thing... [The Giants, Rams, and Raiders] those are the three scenarios that make sense.

Depends on Stafford's trade/signing outcome in 2025.

The Browns will draft a quarterback with their first pick in the 2025 Draft

To me, they have to draft a quarterback with their first pick... I predict it'll be a quarterback period. I think they have to do a quarterback. They're that high, they're that financially strapped with Deshaun Watson, there's that much of a need.

Will be resolved during the 2025 NFL Draft.

I think the 49ers are gonna be able to trade him... I know that I've seen it out there that the Niners would have to release him... I don't agree with that. I think they're gonna be able to trade him.

The outcome depends on off-season moves yet to occur.

Jaden Daniels is a special player who will cover up the Commanders' organizational flaws

Jaden Daniels... gets it big time. He gets it. Like that guy is on it... This quarterback covers up a lot of the sins of the organization. Not everybody's at his level... the quarterback is exceptional.

While Daniels was the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year, 'covering organizational sins' is a matter of opinion.

Kellen Moore and Dion Sanders are square in contention for the Cowboys job

Kellen Moore is a logical name because he fits there... Dion Sanders, if that's the way Jerry wants to go, square in contention. I would just say Kellen Moore square in contention, Dion Sanders, if that's the way Jerry wants to go, square in contention.

As of early 2025, neither was hired for the role, though the reporting on their 'contention' is what's being claimed.

I don't see it this year. I don't see it. Ben Johnson has turned down two years of opportunities... at some point you have to take the plunge. The money is too great, the opportunities are too great... I believe he's taking a head coaching job this year.

Will be resolved by the end of the 2025 coaching cycle.

The Cowboys must sign Dak Prescott to an extension this year to manage the salary cap

I think they have to get something done with him. I mean, he's got a 59 and a half million dollars cap number. They want to get a big deal done with CD Lamb. They want to get a big deal done with Micah Parsons. They want to upgrade their roster. Jerry Jones himself has said they're all in. Well, how can you be all in if your quarterback is taking up that much of the cap? Right. And by the way, if you don't get it done with him, then after the season, you can't tag him. Right. So he could just leave.

Dak Prescott signed a 4-year, $240 million extension on September 8, 2024, just before the first game of the season, fulfilling Schefter's prediction.

The presence of Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel on the market will speed up coach firings next season

I think the fact that [Vrabel's] out there, the fact that Bill [Belichick] is out there, I think it speeds up the coaching firing cycle next season when teams are ordinarily making moves. We get to Thanksgiving. Usually. Sometimes there's a move that is made early in the year. One stray firing, oh, Carolina fired Frank Reich. But usually teams wait till after Thanksgiving and then they start trickling in. I, I think it wouldn't shock me if we started getting stuff like if late, late October, early November, because teams want to go talk to Vrabel. They want to go talk to Belichick.

Firings did occur (Robert Saleh in October 2024, Dennis Allen in November 2024), but as of February 2025, Belichick and Vrabel have not yet been hired as head coaches in the 2025 cycle, though the firings did happen early.

The compensation for a Justin Fields trade will be between a 2nd and a 4th round pick

I think the Justin Fields compensation is somewhere between what Alex Smith got [two 2s] and what Sam Darnold brought. [Sam Darnold] was for a four, a six that year and a four and a two the next year. So three picks. A two, four, and six. And I think that the Justin Fields compensation is somewhere between [those]. So it's like a second and a fourth. A two and a four.

Justin Fields was traded to the Steelers on March 16, 2024, for a conditional 6th-round pick (which could become a 4th), significantly lower than the 2nd round pick Schefter predicted.

I think they move on from Russ. I mean, Sean Payton, just read between the lines. Right? I don't even have to read between the lines. I think it's just saying it. The Texans likely would have drafted Bryce Young if they had the #1 pick in 2023

If the Texans had lost that game and gotten the number one pick in that Draft, if that had happened, I think they might've taken Bryce Young. And I don't know if they would've traded the pick, which means Chicago wouldn't have Caleb Williams, which means they wouldn't be shopping Justin Fields this year.

This is a counterfactual historical claim that can never be definitively proven, though it aligns with draft-day reporting that the Panthers preferred Young.

Everything's being held up right now by the quarterback in Green Bay. Yep. But he is outta the darkness. Once that happens, he's the first quarterback domino. Then all the other quarterback dominoes begin to fall.
