I would draft a generational cornerback over a generational pass rusher

If I had an opportunity at, you know, like a generational pass rusher with nobody behind them or a generational corner with decent rushers up front. I'm taking the generational corner... you cannot manufacture coverage. You can manufacture pass rush.

Positional value is a core debate in NFL scouting and cannot be definitively proven either way.

Caleb Williams is the most talented quarterback in the NFC North

I, I don't think it's unreasonable to say [Caleb Williams] is the most talented quarterback in the division... he's got a different kind of talent like the extension of plays, the throwing off tar off platform. Like that's big in today's NFL.

The relative talent of QBs in a division is a matter of long-term subjective debate.

The Ravens will roll over the Vikings because Lamar Jackson is too difficult to blitz

I really like the Ravens. I think the Ravens roll this week. You can't blitz Lamar and Brian Flores likes to blitz. I think this team knows that they have no margin for error.

Chris Long predicted the Ravens would roll over the Vikings in Week 10. The Ravens won 27-19, a comfortable 8-point victory as Long predicted.

The Bills' best path to beating the Chiefs is exploiting Kansas City's lack of tight end coverage

The Bills' best hope is I don't know what Kansas City does to cover the tight ends... with Reed going to New Orleans, they're down a cover guy... the Bills have owned the middle of the field.

This is a schematic opinion on a potential playoff matchup.

The path for the Texans to stay close is containing Patrick Mahomes' scrambles

The path is if they can take care of the Mahomes scrambles, which they didn't in that first game that killed 'em. They can keep it closer.

If Houston stayed close by limiting scrambles, this is correct. However, the Chiefs won 24-17 in reality.

To beat the Detroit Lions, you have to match their aggression and go for it on every fourth down.

To beat the Detroit Lions, you have to be the Detroit Lions. Right. So, you gotta go for it every fourth down... the tone of a possession where an offense has four downs is uneasy for a defense.

This is a tactical philosophy that can be evaluated based on how opponents succeed or fail against Detroit in the playoffs.

Sean Payton is one of the greatest coaches in NFL history and remains elite due to his situational intelligence.

I think Sean Payton's one of the greatest coaches to ever coach in my opinion. He's so ball smart. He got all those situational nuggets from [his mentors] and then he puts his very physical caveman edge on it.

This is a subjective historical ranking of a coach's legacy.

Khalil Shakir is the Bills' true number one receiver and their most important weapon on the outside.

I think their number one is Khalil Shakir. I think he's the most important guy. He's awesome. He is awesome... it's about outside the numbers [with him].

Shakir's performance and target share in the playoffs will validate whether he truly functions as the Bills' primary option.

Sean McVay is one of the best coaches of our generation

I think Sean McVay is a wizard. I really do. I think Sean McVay is one of the best coaches of our generation. I think he is that good.

This is a subjective assessment of a coach's legacy.

Betting Buffalo +1.5 at home is the move

I'm probably gonna, you know, I'm inevitably gonna bet Buffalo. Just do it. Blood oath. We're gonna bet Buffalo.

The Bills beat the Ravens 27-25 in the Divisional Round on January 19, 2025. Chris Long's Buffalo bet paid off.

Josh Allen is not the reason the Bills are losing in the playoffs

I hate the fact that we gotta hear the takes again as if like QB wins is a stat anyways. But on top of it, the teams that he's lost to for the most part in the Playoffs have been the chiefs and, and Joe Burrow... the guy has, he, he is got a hundred rating for his career in the postseason. He has 21 touchdowns for interceptions. He's not the reason they're losing these games.

Postseason stats for Allen are historically elite; the take argues against narrative-driven criticism.

The Buffalo Bills should fix their problems by moving to the NFC

Move the team to the NFC. Like on like it is dicey with the cap... You bring up a great point and obviously like digs his, his issues down the stretch... But move the team to the NFC.

The Bills cannot literally change conferences, making this a satirical solution to their competitive roadblocks.

Justin Madubuike should have been in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation for his performance with the Ravens

Justin Madubuike... that guy should have been in the conversation for defensive player of the year and he's just this kinda like short nondescript defensive tackle that doesn't have a big name and he's just taken it over.

Awards conversations are subjective, though Madubuike did finish 9th in the voting that year.

The Kansas City Chiefs play roughly 10-15% better in the playoffs than they do during the regular season

Kansas City has played 10 to 15% better in the Playoffs. Like a lot of teams do. They just figure out ways to turn it on.

While 10-15% is a specific but hard-to-measure number, the spirit of the take is a subjective analysis of the Chiefs' postseason pedigree.

Brock Purdy is a fringe top-10 quarterback, not in the elite tier yet

For me to not call Jalen Hurts one of the top five to six quarterbacks in the league, we've gotten so emotional... long story short, I think Purdy deserves a lot of credit. I think he's a fringe top 10 guy wherever you wanna put him on the, you know, on the inside of that top 10. On the outside of the top 10.

Purely subjective ranking of NFL quarterbacks.
Void
Chris LongChris Long

Sam LaPorta and George Kittle are currently the two best tight ends in the NFL

LaPorta, you know, with no disrespect to anybody who's been doing it at a high level longer... there's gonna be a discussion over the next couple years of who's the best tight end in the league. And I feel like at this point, like he's in line—to him and Kittle. When you look at the whole package: blocking, receiving.

Ranking players is a matter of opinion.

NFL teams should always hire offensive play-callers as head coaches to ensure continuity

What makes me nervous about defensive head coaches is inevitably when your rookie quarterback or your unproven quarterback has success, you're gonna lose that play caller... I would go with an offensive play caller. 'cause that's what I look around and see.

This is a widespread philosophy in modern NFL team building, though subjective.

The Panthers coaching job is the worst opening in the league because David Tepper has made it a toxic situation

Panthers are last. You're, you're already, you've already, you've got this owner who showed his ass and if he's not going anywhere, that's a big part of the conversation... it's incredible to me that somebody could fuck up the viability of the job that you're trying to fill so badly.

The quality of a job opening is inherently subjective.
Void
Chris LongChris Long

Seattle is one of the best head coaching openings in the NFL because of GM John Schneider

I think Seattle's a great job man. I really do... they got a really good GM. That's something people ignore. Having Schneider. That's the situation. Walk into and be like, yeah, that guy can, he can pick 'em.

Job ranking is subjective.

Having a third child is the moment where you officially have to give up on all your 'fringe' enjoyable activities or time-wasting

The third kid is where you really put some of your fringe enjoyable activities in the casket. You don't realize it, but all the little shit that you used to do to waste time, you just don't waste any more time. There's no more time to waste.

This is a personal observation about lifestyle changes in parenting.

Josh Allen is better than Patrick Mahomes right now

Josh Allen... He's legitimately playing the best football right now. So, you know, I'm sure some people – I might take him over almost anybody but Aaron [Rodgers]. I might take him over Mahomes right now in this moment.

While Allen had an incredible year, Mahomes beat him in the AFC Championship game head-to-head weeks later.

Brian Daboll will be hired as a head coach after this season

He's [Josh Allen] going to get Daboll hired, man. Brian Daboll is going to get it. That dude is a dude's dude, and I know that him and Josh are really tight, and he's absolutely going to get a really good job off this.

Daboll was a candidate but did not take a head coaching job until Jan 2022.

Arthur Smith's success is tied to Derrick Henry and teams should be careful hiring him

There ain't no Derrick Henry anywhere else in the league right now. So if you're in this hiring cycle, I would be careful. I would just be careful if you're looking for an offensive mind. [Arthur Smith] has done a tremendous job there, but... Tannehill, though, has taken full advantage also.

Arthur Smith was hired by the Falcons and struggled significantly as a head coach, eventually being fired after three seasons.

Roughly 21% of NFL players are on performance-enhancing drugs

I would say probably five to seven different types of things. Oh, yeah, 20, 21%. Just stuff.

Usage of 'stuff' is clandestine and can't be definitively proven, but the estimate from a former player is a significant claim.

The double dribble by Virginia against Auburn was a clear foul that should be called 90% of the time.

I'm telling you, they missed the double dribble. I mean, that's clear. But... that play that went to the review, everybody that just two days ago was saying, we need to get every call inside two minutes right is all of a sudden anti-replay.

Broad consensus among officials and rules experts was that it was a missed double-dribble.
Void
Chris LongChris Long

Instant replay has been positive for the NFL and fans generally don't mind the pace of play issues.

I think replay has been good for football... Honestly, I don't know how we'd get through games nowadays without it. I think people mostly don't even notice that it's slowing the game down at all. I think we're mostly glad we have it.

Public opinion on NFL replay remains highly divided, making this an inherently subjective take.

Tony Bennett has revolutionized Virginia's style of play using Wisconsin's influence

I mean, Dick Bennett, you know. Indirectly a little bit. I mean, you guys, you know, kind of revolutionized our style of play, right?

Being a sports fan is way harder than being a professional player

It's totally different as a fan. It's almost more nerve-wracking. You just feel so hopeless... As a fan, I am just, man, I, uh, I'm, I'm a basket case... being a fan is way harder than being a player.

The psychological difficulty of being a fan vs. a player is subjective.

Carson Wentz is the greatest person character-wise to walk the earth

Carson Wentz is like the greatest person character-wise to walk the earth, bro... I limit my time around Carson Wentz because he makes me feel bad about myself. He makes me feel bad about myself by being awesome.

This is a subjective character assessment from a close teammate.

Alshon Jeffery is the best receiver I have ever played with

In my opinion, [Alshon Jeffery] is the best receiver I've played with. I mean, he is automatic... when I say Alshon is the best receiver, I'm talking about number one, go up and get it, you throw him the ball, he just picks on people.

Purely subjective comparison of teammates' skill sets.

Bill Belichick is the best at adapting his game plan mid-season and mid-game

One thing that Bill does a great job of is he adapts. He adapts not only at the beginning of each season, but he'll adapt going into a game. He's great at identifying [strengths and weaknesses].

Widely accepted as a core reason for Belichick's success, particularly in the 2018 playoffs where the Patriots shifted to a heavy-run identity.

This kid's the perfect football player. Perfect. It's like they made him in a Petri dish... In my opinion, he's the baddest dude in the NFL as far as just being a badass.

Aaron Donald went on to win 3 Defensive Player of the Year awards and is widely regarded as the best of his generation.

Federal legalization of marijuana is an absolute 'layup' for the U.S.

Federally legalized marijuana. I mean, we're halfway there... I think one day we'll look back and look at this like prohibition and it'll look really fucking stupid.

NFL players miss out on all the fun parts of the fall because of the schedule

All the cool shit happens on a fall Saturday night. All my buddies hit me up and I get the worst FOMO sitting in the hotel... I could have been having a drink with Kenny Powers [Danny McBride] and I'm in a hotel [in Buffalo].

Rob Gronkowski is arguably the greatest tight end of all time

87 to me was like I had no idea how good he was. I knew he was one of the greatest of all time, but that guy is probably just as easily separating himself from the competition with tight ends throughout the history of our league as 12 is [at quarterback]. So, I mean, that dude is unreal.

This is a widely held subjective opinion, but Gronk is consistently ranked as a top 2-3 tight end ever.
