This gold medal win will have the same impact on US hockey growth as the 1980 Miracle on Ice

The 1980 Olympic gold medal meant so much for guys like me as an American hockey player to be able to live out your dream. This game right now, what it meant to the world... there's going to be a lot of parents who bring their kid down to the local rink and sign them up because I watched that game. I truly believe it is more than a game for what it can mean for a sport.

Impact on sport growth is long-term and difficult to quantify vs 1980, but the conviction is high.

The US was the better hockey team because they won the game

There's a lot of cope that I would also like to get to. The US was actually the better team today. I just wanna get ahead of that. People are saying that Canada was the best team today. That's actually not true because the United States won the game. If you win the game, you are the better team that day. That's pretty much as definitive as it gets.

The USA literally won the gold medal game, making them the victors, though the 'better team' part is subjective sports logic.

Hockey is only America's fourth most important sport and we still beat Canada

I choose to win with class. Does it hurt for Canada that I graciously said hockey is our fourth like the fourth sport we're best at? We're football, baseball, basketball... and then hockey. I love hockey, but it's our fourth most important sport. And Canada, Canada's everything. And we fucking beat you. And we have the gold.

Subjective ranking of sport importance, though commonly cited in US TV ratings and participation.

Olympic coaches should receive medals along with the athletes

Did you know that the coaches don't get medals? That's bullshit. Bizarre. [PFT: They get the stuffed animal though.] Oh man. [Big Cat:] Could you imagine being a Canadian and that is your sport and it's everything... and then afterwards they're like, 'Hey, here's a Labu Booo.'

It is a factual rule of the IOC that only athletes receive medals, not coaches.

Connor Hellebuyck is the best goalie in the world

Connor Hellebuyck just saying, 'Hey boys, hop on my back. I got this for you. Just jump on in and ride me to this fucking gold medal.' It's incredible. We had the best goalie in the world and our defense is way better than Canada... I don't care if he gave up 50 goals before that game, the way he played that game, he should have won MVP.

Hellebuyck's status as the best is subjective, but his 41-save performance in the Gold Medal game is a factual anchor for the claim.

Connor McDavid will win a Stanley Cup, but it will not be in Edmonton

Can [Connor McDavid] win the big one? Yes. Not in Edmonton. Oh, okay. I like that. That's a good take.

McDavid is still on the Oilers and has not yet won a Cup. If he wins with Edmonton, this is incorrect.

Dak Prescott would be just as successful as Jalen Hurts if he played for the Eagles

I'm more thinking the defense was nasty... I think it's kind of hard to definitively say that Dak Prescott couldn't do what Jalen Hurts [does] if he had that much.

This is a hypothetical comparison between two players in different systems.
