I'm blindly betting against the spread on whichever team has the lower free-throw percentage in the first round of the tournament

I'm just going to bet against the spread on the team that shoots better foul shots, like the team that has a higher percentage, just blindly in the first round. Because when it comes down to nut cutting time when it's a big game and if it's in the tournament, like nerves absolutely become a factor for the worst foul shooting [team].

This is a subjective gambling strategy that cannot be definitively proven correct or incorrect over a single tournament sample.

Illinois is the number one team in college basketball

Illinois is officially the number one team in the country according to my power rankings. What a night in college basketball. They absolutely kicked the shit out of Michigan... I want everyone to understand that the rankings are not predictive. They're reactive. So I reacted to the last week.

The rankings are subjective, but Illinois did secure a #1 seed in the 2021 tournament, proving they were elite at the time.

Teams should drop in the rankings if they go to overtime

The Baylor game, we can get to that in a little bit. But if you go to overtime, I feel like you should drop in the rankings. That should be reflected on the back end.

This is a subjective philosophy on how polls should work.

Gonzaga will probably win the NCAA tournament

And again, I think Gonzaga is, Gonzaga probably will win the tournament. They probably are going to win the tournament, whatever.

Gonzaga entered the title game undefeated but lost to Baylor 86-70.

Nate Oats needs to teach his players to never let the police look through their phones

Let the Aden Holloway situation be a reminder to everybody that you don't have to let the police look through your phone. I actually point the finger at Nate Oats for this, because Nate Oats, you gotta do a better job of explaining the first through fifth amendments to your players. Given the history that you've had... day one you should have a, get the guys from Morgan & Morgan to come in and be like, 'Do not talk to the police if you're in trouble. Shut the fuck up.'

This is a satirical advice piece and commentary on Nate Oats' coaching responsibilities.

Mark Pope is on the hot seat at Kentucky after this tournament performance

Mark Pope on the hot seat. I think he is. I mean, I think they're gonna bring him back. I think he's safe for this year, but I think he's going into next year. Seat is warm.

Pending — Mark Pope's job status at Kentucky after the 2025-26 season is not yet resolved.

Every major college coaching opening should start by calling Brad Stevens and making him say no

You gotta make him say no. You gotta call Brad Stevens and make him say no. I will personally never stop saying that. He probably wakes up every morning and says no. Voicemail just says, 'Thank you so much for the consideration, but it's gonna be a no.' It would be shocking if he ever took another college job.

This is an opinion on coaching search strategy.
