Coach Mazzulla in his press conference said something about feeling empty when he won and feeling empty when he lost. ... I'm not a psychiatrist, but winning feels better. It's just my take.

This is a subjective emotional comparison, though most people would agree winning is preferable.

Is this a workplace relationship? I believe under that [NFL] umbrella. I can't imagine that HR is not involved in this situation.

Technically they have different employers (The Athletic/New York Times vs. New England Patriots), but the 'conflict of interest' is a journalistic standard rather than a standard HR workplace rule.

Chase Brown did not win AP Offensive Player of the Year. Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seahawks won the award after leading the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards. The Bengals went 6-11 and Burrow was injured most of the season.
