Jalen Hurts plays his own game regardless of the designed offense - the Eagles OC hire won't be someone with other options

There's a certain amount of frustration within the coaching staff and within the locker room because they designed the offense, they designed the plays, they call the plays. And then when it's time to go out there, Jalen Hurts the quarterback plays his game. Whoever the Eagles hire to be the offensive coordinator is not gonna be a guy who has other choices.

Mike Florio's take had two parts, both of which were supported by subsequent events and reporting. First, reports from the 2025 season indicated frustration within the Eagles organization regarding Jalen Hurts' play and the team's offensive struggles, leading to the firing of the previous offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo. Second, the Eagles ultimately hired Sean Mannion as their offensive coordinator on January 29, 2026. Mannion was an inexperienced coach with no prior NFL play-calling experience, and reports explicitly stated that the Eagles 'struck out on their preferred OC candidates' before settling on him, suggesting he was not a coach with 'other choices' for such a prominent role.

PFT Commenter is concerned about Drake May's shoulder injury heading into the Super Bowl

That's my concern with a run first quarterback like that. Especially taking shots on your right shoulder, because that's the only position that a guy can't play if he's got a sore right shoulder. He took a shot, got tackled, and then he got up shaking his shoulder out, and then the very next throw he kind of short armed it, went down to the right. And now he's popped up on the injury report.

PFT's concern was justified. Maye received a painkilling injection before the SB and his performance suffered (overthrown passes, 3 turnovers).

The Vikings will trade either JJ McCarthy or Kyler Murray because the loser of the QB battle won't accept being a backup

Whoever loses that quarterback competition isn't going to be very happy. Kyler Murray didn't go there to be the backup. JJ McCarthy feels like he hasn't gotten a fair shake... let's hope we can unload [McCarthy] and then go with three guys. Murray, Carson Wentz... and Max Brosmer.

Training camp is ongoing; the roster moves will likely occur before week one or by the trade deadline.

Baker Mayfield might sign with the Steelers for less money just to spite the Buccaneers for not paying him

Once [Baker Mayfield] is a free agent, it doesn't matter if somebody else is offering less, he could take less just as a middle finger to the Buccaneers for not paying him when they had the chance. I could see him taking less money to go to Pittsburgh... Pittsburgh is the perfect destination for him.

Mayfield is currently under contract with Tampa Bay; this refers to his future free agency move.
