Phil Jackson's greatest skill was managing the massive egos of his superstar players

Management of egos is also equally as important. Kerr does that a great job with that. Phil Jackson was managing Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen, Shaq, Kobe, Dennis Rodman. And he was also banging the owner of the team too. I think he's pretty good at managing egos.

This is a widely accepted historical perspective on Jackson's 11 rings.

LeBron James might be better as a Robin than a Batman for the Lakers

I think what we're seeing is LeBron might be better as a Robin than he is as a Batman. They've got a true number one option finally on the Lakers in AD who looks healthier than we had predicted.

The Lakers did lean heavily on Davis during their 2023 WCF run, but the dynamic remains a shared leadership. LeBron's role as a playmaker makes the Batman/Robin dynamic subjective.

My fear of the Lakers making a championship run has reached a new level

My fear of LeBron and the Lakers making a championship run has elevated to another rung. So I do think this is gonna be a great series. I obviously, you know, like game one, especially the Warriors coming off of game seven, I don't know how they're gonna solve for the fact that the Lakers are just taller than them.

The Lakers did make a run to the Western Conference Finals, though they were ultimately swept by the Nuggets. Big Cat's fear was justified as they beat the defending champ Warriors.

NBA playoff teams should only wear their classic home and road jerseys

When you're in the playoffs, you wear your jerseys, you wear your classic jerseys, you wear your home, you wear your road. Like don't fuck it up. ... I don't want your city connect. I don't want your 17th Nike jersey. ... I do sound like an old man right now, but I want your classic jersey playing in the playoffs.

This is a matter of personal aesthetic preference and tradition.

England will beat the Netherlands and then lose a heartbreaking match to Argentina

I think England's gonna win this weekend. And then you'll have the realization that it might not actually be coming home after all... losing to Argentina at that stage, that would be the most heartbreaking loss they could possibly have.

Specific tournament outcome needs verification based on the actual 2026 bracket results.

Christian Pulisic is clearly not and cannot be the face of US soccer

I'm just sick of relying on him [Pulisic] to be the face of US soccer because it can't be, it's so clear that he's not.

This is a subjective evaluation of a player's leadership/status.

The 4-1 loss to Belgium was the worst USMNT performance in years

That was the worst performance from the US that I've seen in years. Just completely lackluster from the start. So much blame to go around. Tim Ream, friend of the program, good guy over the hill, turned into soccer Shawn Bradley before our very eyes got dunked on twice.

Subjective opinion on the quality of the performance.
