The Lions sometimes plan to go for it on every fourth down

He's told us, 'We got four downs up and down the field. I don't care if we're on the minus 20, we're going.' If it's fourth and eight on the minus 20, we're going for it.

LaPorta is describing the Lions' stated preparation and team philosophy, presented as a firsthand fact from the player.

Brock Purdy is the MVP and the 49ers are the NFL's best team

The 49ers are, I think, the best team in football. I think Brock Purdy right now is the league MVP.

The 49ers' eventual season result and MVP award are not yet known from the available context.

The intentional-grounding penalty was the right play

I actually think he had, that's an OC problem because there was no underneath route. If he throws that deep and, like, everyone had—it just was a shit show. He couldn't throw it deep because he was basically getting chased. If he takes a sack, everyone has to come back. It probably is more than 10 seconds to get the next play. So that one, I had no problem.

Whether the decision was optimal is an inherently debatable football judgment.

Iowa is the best recent tight-end factory

I think we have to be. I think as of recent, definitely going back to the early 2000s with Kirk Ferentz and starting with Dallas Clark, Moeaki, Brandon Myers. It's just going down the list.

The ranking of college tight-end programs is subjective, even though Iowa's production can be debated using historical evidence.

Jared Goff is a tough leader but a diva at the facility

On game day, the dude will get smoked by grown-ass men, 350-pound D-tackles, pop right up. He never looks to the refs for a call. But in the facility on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday afternoons, he's fun to mess with because he is in there getting his booboos treated.

This is a teammate's subjective characterization of Goff's personality and behavior.
