Mike Tomlin is the best coach in the NFL right now

I love Mike Tomlin more than anyone I think in the NFL right now. It's crazy how awesome he is. He is just, he gets in front of a room and I, you just get pumped up. He's the best.

This is subjective, but Tomlin's coaching performance in 2024 has been highly regarded.

The Bears will not hire an alpha personality like Mike Vrabel because they are a 'meek' organization

Mike Vrabel would be a personality that they have not wanted in that building for a very long time, where they don't want an alpha who is like, this is my system. Correct. This is my program. Correct... George McCaskey is a meek man who does not like football.

The Bears coaching search for 2025 is pending, but this is a subjective critique of ownership.

The Mike Silver story about Dan Snyder ignoring Kirk Cousins is 'fucking bullshit'

Mike Silver came on the show... and he told you this story about the Cleveland game. And it was a great game... and he told you a story about how Dan Snyder walked in the locker room and like damn near trucked Kirk to get to me and asked me if I was okay. That reminded me... it was a fucking over exaggeration of the story. Dan Snyder walked in the locker room... he didn't brush past Kirk Cousins. He walked to me... then he turned around and he congratulated Kirk Cousins on the job that he did.

RG3 was the person at the center of the story; his eyewitness account directly contradicts Silver's reporting. Without further evidence, it's a 'he-said/he-said' but RG3 is unequivocal.

The super conferences are a mistake because they allow for massive schedule disparity

The super conferences are probably a mistake. The super conferences this year have allowed teams... [to] allow schedule disparity that we didn't have before. And the schedule disparity allows Ohio State to play every other team in the top five of the Big 10 and Indiana to play none of them.

This is a subjective opinion about the structural health of the sport.

He is embarrassing himself as he has most of the the, the season... Lane Kiffin is the Ole Miss coach should be saying, we want to go the SEC championship game... And now he's doing this whining about schedule and he is whining about strength of schedule... While all he had to do was beat Kentucky a four and eight team who won one SEC game.

The MLB 'Golden at Bat' rule would be awesome and make the end of games more exciting

I like this rule. I think that makes it cool... think about like the ninth inning when you're like, oh, you know, [Ohtani] made the last out. But he can, he can bat again and we're down two. That's cool.

The Dolphins' struggles in cold weather are more about their opponents being good than the elements

Green Bay isn't a cakewalk. Buffalo bills aren't a cakewalk. To blame everything on the cold weather to say the cold weather has these guys not playing, man, miss tackles happen in the heat... Bryce Young has improved because he was finally able to watch the game from a different perspective

You just getting a guy that gives opportunity to see the game from a different perspective. Seeing it from the seat versus seeing it from behind the center and getting an opportunity to be coached and seeing, you know, not everybody deals with adversity the same. But obviously Bryce has shown you that he could deal with adversity.

If Lamar Jackson wins the Super Bowl this year, he begins to unseat Patrick Mahomes as the best QB in the league

If Lamar wins the Super Bowl this year, he'll begin to unseat Mahomes as the best QB in the league. Absolutely some merit [to that]. If Josh Allen wins the MVP in a Super Bowl, he's in that conversation too.

Mahomes has three rings and three Super Bowl MVPs; Lamar would still only have one in this scenario, making 'unseating' him a major debate.

A six-point lead is the worst lead to have in football

Six points is the worst lead in football... if you're up six, you're basically saying to the other team, you have to go score a touchdown. And that's exactly what the Vikings did.

Ohio State vs. Michigan 2024 was the most devastating loss of all time

I actually think that might've been the worst loss of all time in the history of losses... There were 20 point favorites. Ohio State is a loaded, Michigan doesn't have an offense. They don't have a quarterback. Michigan had a dog shit season and they still went in and bullied him in Columbus.

This is a subjective opinion on the 'worst loss,' but it fits the criteria for a strong, trackable opinion on the rivalry.

The Chargers are an elite wide receiver away from being a real Super Bowl threat

I feel like an elite wide receiver next year away from being a real, real threat. [Ladd McConkey] is awesome, but it is like when you throw it to Quentin Johnston in crunch time... it is a reminder that, oh man, if they had a T. The Chargers lack of depth at WR has been a recurring theme, though McConkey's emergence has mitigated it slightly.

The 12-team playoff has officially saved the college football regular season

The 12 team playoff is gonna be great. Anyone who says the regular season won't matter is not seeing the big picture... We saw on Saturday a chaotic, chaotic scene all across the country in games that would not have mattered if it weren't for the 12 team playoff.

He could legitimately play wide receiver here in the NFL because he can run routes. He has late hands, he tracks the ball well... I just think he's a big asset and you know, and I, I, I kind of wonder what his ceiling is.

To get college hitters out, throw slow fastballs (45 mph) down the middle

My advice would be to throw it very slow. Once you get to like 65, 70 miles an hour, that's when guys are gonna start unleashing on it. So my advice would be to hone in a really slow pitch over the zone. Throw it right down the middle and it'll cut sometimes and it'll sink sometimes. Dial in a 45 mile an hour fastball and throw it on the two seams, don't throw it on the four seams.

The effectiveness of this advice for Max's specific challenge is subjective and depends on the hitters' ability to adjust to 'junk' pitching.

Philadelphia. To me, talent wise, it has the most talent in the National Football League. And [Nick] Sirianni now he has the formula: run the ball more than you throw it, heavy up the protections for Jalen Hurts and let him use his legs too. That team right there is playing really well.

NFL teams change coaches too quickly, which stunts quarterback development

I do [think the NFL moves on from coaches too quickly]. Every team had a coach that was there for a period of years... and now they change coaches every year or two and they change offense and defensive coordinators like they change shirts. And I think that has a lot to do with the lack of quarterback consistency and development over time.

This is a subjective organizational philosophy, but widely accepted as a reason why teams like the Steelers (high stability) stay competitive.
