Never partner with someone in business who cheats on their family

Somebody said to me, man, don't be partners with somebody who would cheat like that because he'll screw you in a heartbeat. ... If you're cheating someone else, then I'm convinced you're going to cheat me too.

This is a subjective business philosophy, though widely shared by mentors.

College basketball teams should foul earlier because college players cannot hit free throws

The one thing that pisses me off this entire tournament... the fact that teams won't extend games. You should make kids shoot free throws in college. They can't hit free throws. And we saw that later with Kentucky.

Statistically, college free-throw percentages are lower than NBA ones, and in this specific tournament, several games turned on missed free throws (like Kentucky).

John Calipari is officially on the hot seat

And Coach Cal's on the hot seat. He's definitely on the hot seat.

Calipari remained the head coach at Kentucky for six more years until moving to Arkansas in 2024.

Gonzaga is the 'always a bridesmaid, never a Cinderella' of college basketball

I guess we have to smash the fraud button on Gonzaga. Always a bridesmaid, never a Cinderella.

Gonzaga has reached two national championship games (2017, 2021) but has yet to win a title, supporting the 'bridesmaid' part of the take.

Red Bull uses predatory contracts to lock bars into exclusive energy drink deals

Red Bull has like predatory contracts. So when you sign a deal as a bar with Red Bull... in the contract, it says you are not allowed to do business with any other energy drink. They buy you in, so to speak, and they lock you in.

Exclusivity agreements are a standard and well-documented practice in beverage distribution for major brands.

Sports only drive bar business about 70 days a year

Sports will only fill a bar about 70 days a year... And a lot of people think, oh, but a sports bar, they come every night. That's not true. They don't come for every baseball game, only postseason. They don't come for every NBA game, only postseason...tops 70, 80 days.

This is a business statistic Taffer frequently cites based on his industry data.

Women over 34 need backs on barstools, while younger women prefer stools without them

When you have women over 34, you put her back on a barstool... Under 34, you don't. And the reason why is over 34, women get very sensitive about their asses... Under 34, I want you to spin around for interactivity.

This is a specific design philosophy from Taffer. While 'correct' in his methodology, it's a generalization of customer behavior.
