The 2018 College Football Playoff will include Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Michigan

The Final Four, if I'm projecting it out at the end of the season, would be Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, in some order... And then Michigan. My top four now are Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, LSU. But I'm projecting, obviously, that Alabama beats LSU.

The final 2018 Playoff was Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma. Michigan lost to Ohio State 62-39 at the end of the season, knocking them out.

Clayton Kershaw is still kind of a bum in the playoffs

Clayton Kershaw still kind of a bum. Whew. That was tough. If [David] Price had done what Kershaw did, you'd be killing him. Bum is hard. But today was a moment... when you give up a two-run homer in the first inning, that's tough.

Kershaw had a 7.36 ERA in the 2018 World Series and famously struggled in postseasons for much of his career until 2020.

Manny Machado is the perfect villain for baseball

Manny Machado, the world's biggest jerk. I love Manny Machado. I don't want him on the Cubs, but I love this guy... It was his coming out party as a real asshole, and I love it. Because the world... we need villains. And Manny Machado was the perfect villain.

This is a subjective opinion on entertainment value, but Machado remained one of the most polarizing figures in the sport.

The Dodgers' bullpen would be their undoing

I said that the Dodgers' bullpen was going to be their undoing. From the start. I also said Red Sox in five. So not to brag, but I called it.

The Red Sox did win in 5 games, and the Dodgers' relief pitching (Madson) was a major factor in the collapse.

A 10-2 Kentucky would make the playoff

If Kentucky's 10 and two, they're making the playoffs. So it—there's not really a style point situation that they've gotta worry about. They just have to keep winning.

Kentucky's final record and whether a 10-2 season earns a playoff berth are not yet resolved.

BYU could make the playoff without winning the Big 12

I don't know that BYU has to win the Big 12 now to make the playoff. If you have a 12-and-0 Texas Tech and they beat BYU in the Big 12 championship game and hand them, let's say, their second loss, they're both getting in.

The Big 12 standings, championship result, and playoff selection have not yet been determined.

The 24-team playoff will not kill college football

I do not think this is gonna kill the sport. I don't think it's gonna kill the regular season.

Whether expansion harms the sport and regular-season interest is a long-term evaluative question, not a single objectively settled result.
