The Mavericks made the right decision to tank at the end of the 2022-23 season to keep their draft pick

The Mavericks made the right decision. They got a good big young guy [Dereck Lively II] who can help Luca in his Prime win a title this year instead of trying to make, and probably failing to get in the play in. ... Tanking works sometimes.

The Mavericks reached the NBA Finals with Dereck Lively II as a key contributor, arguably validating the strategy.

The Celtics are effectively the NBA champions now that the Nuggets have been eliminated

Congratulations to Hank. Boston Celtics are NBA Champs. Because the nuggets are out. The only real competition that they had.

The Celtics did win the 2024 NBA Championship after the Nuggets were eliminated by the Timberwolves.

The formula for the Timberwolves to win is for Anthony Edwards to not score at all in the first half

When [Anthony Edwards] is held below five points in the first half of the game, the timber wolves are seven and one this season. ... So he just gotta not score, just have him not score at all in the first half and then you're good.

While the stat was true at the time, purposefully having your star player not score is obviously not a sustainable winning strategy.

The Timberwolves are for real after beating the Nuggets in Denver

I couldn't be more impressed with, with the wolves. This series was just, it was the anti Minnesota series... they win the game somewhat convincingly. 'cause they were up 10 with like three minutes left and it was over in, in the Nuggets building. They win three games in Denver. I mean, what a what a what a performance. They're they're for real.

The Timberwolves reached the Western Conference Finals, confirming they were 'for real' that season.

Michigan was definitively the better team in the National Championship and it never felt like UConn was in danger of winning.

Michigan was the better team. We all saw it. It never felt like [the game] was in danger. Like the only moment that I was like, oh, UConn might have a chance, was when there was like maybe five and a half minutes left and Mullens missed that three to cut it to four.

The episode presents Michigan winning the 2026 National Championship as a fact within the show's timeline.

Michigan was the best team all year — outside of Duke, who would have won the championship by a lot

They were the best team. They were the best team all year outside of Duke. 'Cause that actually was my other big takeaway — Duke just completely, Duke beat this Michigan team a month and a half ago.

Subjective comparison of team quality. Duke did beat Michigan during the regular season in 2025-26.

Danny Hurley is 18-1 against the spread in his last four NCAA tournaments, which is insane

Danny Hurley remains 18 and one in the last four tournaments against the spread. How insane is that? Furman is the only one that they didn't cover. That was the first round this year.

This is a factual claim about Hurley's ATS record over the last four NCAA tournaments. Based on UConn's remarkable tournament run, this is plausible and presented as a known stat. Cannot fully verify exact record but the claim is stated as fact.
