The Masked Singer started the rumor that Tom Brady was a contestant during his training camp absence

I've gone like overly woke on this now. And I think that it's a rumor that was started by the Masked Singer because people are definitely gonna be tuning in trying to figure out is that Tom Brady. It's the one show that you can basically get all the way through the episode being like maybe it is Tom Brady.

Brady was not on the Masked Singer (he was actually on vacation in the Bahamas), and there's no evidence the show started the rumor, though they likely benefited from it.

Scott Frost's claim about Nebraska's offensive line puking 15-20 times per practice feels like a lie

Scott Frost announced that his team is puking. His offensive line is puking 15 to 20 times per practice. That doesn't feel like it's... I don't know. When it was announced, everyone on Twitter was just like, that feels like a lie.

The claim was widely mocked and Frost eventually had to clarify that it was an exaggeration, making Big Cat's skepticism correct.

Scott Frost should have been fired a couple of years ago

Scott Frost also is at a point now where like he should have probably been fired a couple years ago. And so he's like, what do I care? Let's just puke.

Scott Frost was eventually fired by Nebraska less than a month after this episode (Sept 11, 2022) following a loss to Georgia Southern.

Al Michaels does not have a 'Thursday night voice'

I don't think he brings too much gravitas to Thursday night. Well, he doesn't have a Thursday night voice, especially... He's got a Sunday night or a Monday night voice. He does not have a Thursday night voice. There are certain people that have Thursday night voices out there. Al Michaels, no. I do not want to hear him on a week... I don't want to have to go to work for a full another day before the weekend when I hear Al Michaels' voice.

This is entirely subjective based on auditory preference and scheduling psychology.

The Ravens' fourth-quarter problems are moving earlier

Historically, the fourth-quarter Ravens have not been a great team. That fourth-quarter Ravens has started to creep its way into the third-quarter Ravens. And I think eventually it's going to keep creeping earlier and earlier in the game. I don't think it's going to get better because the defense does not look good.

This is a season-long assessment that can only be judged against Baltimore's eventual 2026 performance.

Baker Mayfield has a real revenge game against Cleveland

This is like a big Baker revenge spot too. This is not a made-up Baker—I have a perceived slight against me because some team didn't trade for me when I was on the market. This is Baker Mayfield against Stefanski, and they haven't talked since he left Cleveland.

Whether the personal history materially affects the game is subjective, though the stated public grievance is part of the episode's context.

The NFL should reduce the season to 16 games

I'm going to say it. I think that 17 games is too much. I like the scarcity. I like if you brought it back to 16, because the NFL's also been playing this game for a long time where they have to find safer-looking ways to do a dangerous activity.

The preferred NFL schedule is a policy judgment, though the player-safety rationale is grounded in the discussion's cited study.
