NFL Week 11: Tommy DeVito’s Jersey Juice and the Super Bowl Browns
Week 11 gave us everything from a shirtless, gray-sweatpant-wearing Myles Garrett to Tommy DeVito fueling the Giants with pure 'Jersey Juice.' Big Cat and PFT Commenter kicked things off with the Fastest Two Minutes before getting into why the Cleveland Browns might actually be the most terrifying team in the AFC right now. Even with a third-string quarterback in Dorian Thompson-Robinson, that defense is making everyone believe the impossible.
The Browns and the Elite Flacco Discourse
The Browns managed to out-ugly the Steelers in a game that felt like a Big 10 West classic. Myles Garrett was a menace, and while DTR did enough to win, the real story is the impending arrival of Joe Flacco.
The Cleveland Browns are for real
The Cleveland Browns are seven and three. The Cleveland Browns win with a, their third string quarterback in DTR. The Cleveland Browns are for real.
PFT is so all-in on the return of the elite one that he’s already eyeing a massive payout if the Browns go on a run.
If Joe Flacco wins a Super Bowl with the Browns, he's won two and he's definitively elite — I put a thousand dollars on it at 50-to-1
It would be so awesome if Joe Flacco won a Super Bowl with these Browns. As of Friday I put a thousand dollars future on the Browns thinking that they were gonna get Joe Flacco. So it pays out 50 to 1. If Joe Flacco wins a Super Bowl and he does his normal Joe Flacco thing where he doesn't make any mistakes, gets the pass interferences — that would contribute so much to the Flacco discourse. At that point he's won two Super Bowls. He's elite.
On the other side of that matchup, Jersey Jerry joined the show briefly to mourn a typical Steelers performance where they were outgained yet again. Jerry’s outlook for Pittsburgh is getting bleak as they head into a pivotal divisional matchup.
The Steelers' season is over if they lose to the Bengals next week
They're not, the season's not dead yet. But if they drop, if they drop this next game at the Bengals season's cooked.
C.J. Stroud’s Human Moment and Tommy DeVito’s Rise
C.J. Stroud finally looked like a rookie for about thirty minutes against the Cardinals, throwing three interceptions in a rough second half. However, Big Cat actually walked away feeling better about Houston because the rest of the team picked up the slack.
I am more confident in the Texans now because they proved they can win even when C.J. Stroud has a bad game
For this Texans game, they did not play their A-plus game. And weirdly I'm like more confident in the Texans going forward because they prove that they can win games when C.J. Stroud isn't perfect... When you can win when you're not great, that's a sign of a really good team.
PFT is looking at the standings and seeing a legitimate path for the Texans to leapfrog the Jaguars for the AFC South crown.
The Texans can win the AFC South
I think that the Texans can win the division. Because they play the Jaguars next weekend... If they beat the Jaguars, they I believe are in first place in that division.
In Washington, the vibes have hit rock bottom after losing to a Giants team led by Tommy DeVito. While the Commanders' defense continues to surrender sacks and points at an alarming rate, DeVito is actually putting up numbers that make him look like a viable option in New York.
Tommy DeVito might be a franchise quarterback
Tommy DeVito might be a franchise quarterback... he now has more touchdown passes than any QB playing in New Jersey this season. That's Zach Wilson. Obviously Aaron Rogers got hurt. Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor. He also has five touchdown passes... the most by a Giants starter in his first two starts since 1950.
Despite the loss, PFT isn't ready to jump ship on Sam Howell just yet. He’s still Sam’s Guy, even if the Commanders are firmly in 'ass-to-ass' territory in the standings.
The Commanders should keep building around Sam Howell
I'm, I still like Sam, I still think we focus on Sam, we build around Sam. I I have not changed. He's still the guy. Sam's the guy. He had a bad day.
The Jalen Ramsey Effect and Chargers Woes
The Dolphins weren't at their offensive peak against the Raiders, but the defense proved it can win games now that Jalen Ramsey is patrolling the secondary.
Jalen Ramsey makes the Dolphins' defense elite
Jalen Ramsey changes everything for the Vic Fangio defense. He was awesome. Had two Picks and I, yeah. Like if the Dolphins can play the offense they played at the beginning of the year and the defense, like they're playing right now. They are a formidable team.
Big Cat is also keeping a close eye on the record books, as Tyreek Hill continues to put up video-game numbers that have him on pace for a historic 2,000-yard season.
Tyreek Hill will break the single-season receiving yards record
Tyreek Hill... is on pace for 2077 yards, which would be a record, obviously the extra game. No one's ever had 2000 receiving yards in the NFL in a season.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the Brandon Staley era feels like it's approaching a merciful end. The Chargers found yet another way to lose a one-score game, this time through a comedy of drops and fumbles against the Packers. PFT pointed out that at a certain point, it isn't 'bad luck' or 'underachieving'—it's just who they are.
The Chargers aren't underachieving, they just aren't good
I don't think you can say that the Chargers are underachieving anymore. No, I think the Chargers are just the Chargers. Yeah. They're just the C words.
PFT’s JMU Homecoming and the Heisman Race
To wrap things up, PFT recapped his incredible weekend at JMU for College GameDay. From meeting Lee Corso to dealing with Max’s 'loser energy' on the sidelines, it was a legendary homecoming even if PFT’s charity field goal attempt drifted a bit to the right.
In the college ranks, Big Cat is ready to crown a Heisman winner after Jayden Daniels put up an eight-touchdown masterpiece against Georgia State.
Jayden Daniels should and will win the Heisman
Jayden Daniels. Eight touchdowns against Georgia State... He is now the favorite to win the Heisman... I don't think that you can honestly make a case that it should be anybody except for Jayden Daniels.
If the Browns actually win the Super Bowl with Joe Flacco, we might have to retire the podcast because sports will have officially peaked.
