Magic's Mo & Franz Wagner on NBA Life, Jake Browning Elite, and 24-Hour Stream Drama
The NFL landscape shifted on Monday night, and not just because of the devastating Trevor Lawrence injury. Jake Browning basically became a Bengals legend in three hours, going 32 for 37 for 354 yards and a massive road win in Jacksonville. Big Cat is officially ready to buy all the stock in the backup.
Jake Browning is elite and his performance against the Jaguars proves he is 'Him'
Jake Browning has arrived. He is Elite. I got a question. Is Jake Browning him? He might be... 32 for 37. 354 yards. And a Bengals win.
With Lawrence down and the AFC playoff picture looking like a game of backup quarterback musical chairs, the conversation shifted to whether the power has officially moved to the other side of the league. Big Cat thinks the NFC is the heavy-hitter conference now.
The NFC is a more difficult conference than the AFC this year
Now it all switches to Is the NFC the real gauntlet? Is NFC really the actual conference this year? Because Yeah. I mean, if you had to do a power rankings of teams, the NFC would have what, three of the top five teams right now?
PFT was particularly bothered by the logistics of the Jaguars' medical staff. Seeing the face of the franchise hobble through a tunnel without a cart was a tough look for a city known for its golf carts.
Jacksonville should have forced Trevor Lawrence to use a golf cart instead of letting him walk to the locker room
Jacksonville, Florida probably has the most golf carts. And they didn't use a single one on Trevor. He said he wanted to walk to the training room... At that point, you need to be like, no, we're gonna get you a cart. You've had, gimme your keys. You've had too much.
The Wagner Brothers in Studio
Mo Wagner and Franz Wagner joined the show to discuss their unique situation as brothers playing together for the Orlando Magic. They touched on everything from their European upbringing to their "Welcome to the NBA" moments. Mo provided some great insight into why European players often have a higher basketball IQ when entering the league.
European basketball training makes players more effective at playing without the ball compared to American players
I think, I mean the, the biggest thing is you, you learned to play without the ball. I think it's not about, it's not about you When you learn to play in Europe... you learn how to play very organized at a very young age. And you see that in the NBA too, that European players like just know how to play with each other.
Of course, the conversation turned to fan interaction and the darker side of the legalized gambling era. Mo had a very direct message for anyone currently typing a message into his Instagram requests about their missed three-leg parlay.
I don't give a rat's ass about your parlay
Don't dmm me about your betts. I do not. That's fair. I don't give a rat's ass about your bet. I understand that, but that's your fault for betting... It's getting outta hand. It's like 10, 15 people at a time like every game. And they going crazy too.
24-Hour Stream & Hot Seat/Cool Throne
Hank and Max are preparing for their 24-hour live stream punishment, which stems from their Mount Rushmore season loss. Hank spent a good portion of the show pre-complaining about the 9:00 PM start time and the lack of phone access, while Big Cat and PFT reminded him that he brought this on himself.
In Hot Seat/Cool Throne, the guys discussed the upcoming GTA VI trailer and the sheer realism of modern gaming. Hank is convinced we’ve hit the ceiling for graphics.
GTA VI is the point where video games became indistinguishable from reality
GTA six finally released their trailer yesterday. And yeah, it, that's we've, we've done it. We've gotten to the point where I can't tell if it's a video game or real life. Unfortunately. That clip of the, of the girls shaking her booty on the, on the car. I was like, is that real? I don't, it finally happened where my brain can't process video games. In reality.
PFT also highlighted the massive changes coming to the NCAA with new compensation rules, predicting a massive divide between the top-tier programs and everyone else.
The NCAA's new compensation rules will create a major/minor league divide in college sports
The NCAA is putting forth a new... regulation... so that certain colleges, any college as a matter of fact can contribute up to $30,000 a year... once this gets into place, it's gonna be like the major leagues, right. Of college sports. Yes. And then everybody else is the minor leagues if this actually ends up happening.
Finally, the guys took a second to acknowledge the greatness of Nikola Jokic. Despite his stats being arguably the best in league history right now, he still feels underrated in the broader media landscape.
Nikola Jokic is the best player in the world
Yoic. Did you know that He leads the NBA in points, rebounds, and assists right now. Jesus. It's fucking insane what Yoic is doing. He's so good. I think, I feel like we're in the trap of not appreciating how great Yoic is. Yeah. He's the best player in the world.
Closing Thoughts
To wrap things up, the guys looked ahead to the eventual end of the show. While they aren't going anywhere anytime soon, Big Cat already has the blueprint for how they'll walk away into the sunset.
When PMT eventually ends, we will do a massive cash-grab retirement tour
When we do end up hanging up the cleats, we're gonna do like a sellout like Aerosmith... and we're just gonna be like, yeah, we're gonna make like $20 million being washed up podcasters doing like one final tour... it would be a much more calculated landing the plane.
See you all on the 24-hour stream where we'll find out just how much Hank actually hates his life.
