MLB All-Star Week is officially in the books, and while the Home Run Derby actually felt like it had its pulse back thanks to a hostile Philly crowd, the All-Star Game itself left a bit to be desired. Big Cat and PFT were riding high on the energy of the fans booing every pitch taken, but the actual game felt like a marathon that didn't quite deliver on the star power. Big Cat even felt a bit edged by the lack of a signature Philadelphia moment, despite Bryce Harper being mic'd up and Christopher Sanchez taking the mound.

The MLB All-Star Game is boring and the National League should have won easily

This game was pretty boring. I gotta be honest. The Allstar game was kind of boring. Kind of ironic that the American League wins in a year where it feels like the American League is just, you know, they've getting their ass kicked by the National League. And then if you look at the star power on each team, it feels like the National League should win this pretty easily.

The AL did win the 2026 All-Star game, confirming the outcome mentioned in the transcript.

The conversation quickly shifted to the legends of the game and whether the greats of the past could still hack it today. While PFT is convinced Ken Griffey Jr. still has that sweet swing, Big Cat is fully bought into the idea that Barry Bonds is the ultimate 'what if' in terms of longevity. He's convinced that the intimidation factor alone would carry Bonds through a few more seasons of elite OBP.

Barry Bonds could still play in the MLB and take a million walks because of fear

I think of that with Barry Bonds for sure. Barry Bonds I like He could just, he, he could show up and just be awesome and, and take like a million walks. 'cause people would fear him.

This is a hypothetical claim about a retired player's current ability, which is fundamentally subjective.

The World Cup of Air Conditioning

Spain officially punched their ticket to the Final by handling France, but the real story of the tournament continues to be the scheduling and the environmental factors. PFT isn't thrilled about the 2 PM kickoffs on weekdays, feeling like the U.S. is playing second fiddle to European TV windows despite being the host nation.

The US is hosting the World Cup and shouldn't be playing weekday matches at 2 PM just to cater to the European TV audience.

I got one thing to complain about with these games. Why are we playing them at 2:00 PM on a weekday? We're trying to get the European audience for sure. But it's our World Cup. We're hosting it. We should be playing these kickoffs, should be at 6:00 PM at the earliest.

This is a subjective opinion about tournament scheduling logistics.

More importantly, Big Cat has a theory that the European teams are being powered by the sheer luxury of American HVAC systems. He posits that walking into a 7-Eleven in July is a religious experience for someone from a country where air conditioning is a myth.

American air conditioning is the equivalent of 'Hunter Biden crack' for European visitors

I would imagine air conditioning for Europeans hits like crack. Like the best crack of all. Oh, hunter Biden crack. Yeah. That's like when we go over to, to Spain and we see a nude beach. Like that's, that, that feeling that we get over there is their feeling when they're walking into one of our buildings over here.

Inherently subjective and hyperbolic comparison.

Hot Seat/Cool Throne

During Hot Seat/Cool Throne, the talk turned to Erling Haaland and the Norwegian national team. Hank was defending Haaland's right to party after being knocked out, but Big Cat wasn't having the celebration back home in Norway. To him, the idea of a parade for a team that didn't even reach the ultimate goal felt like a surrender to mediocrity.

Norway throwing a parade for a World Cup loss is 'loser energy'

Norway is, but I think it was more just people being like, oh, this is, this is what's wrong with players today... this all falls apart when you see the, the parade that they threw for the players in Norway. Right. Which is, I I see it as loser energy just because it's like you're basically saying this is the best it will ever get.

The evaluation of 'loser energy' is a matter of opinion.

We also got the first taste of QB rankings for the upcoming season. While the usual names are at the top, PFT and Big Cat felt like Jared Goff isn't getting the respect he earned after his resurgence in Detroit. The Lions' signal-caller is apparently the new benchmark for 'disrespected' in the eyes of the show.

Jared Goff is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and should be ranked higher than Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert.

Jared Goff should be higher too. Jared should be six. Jared Goff, if you look at his stats, since he's joined the Lions outside that very first year, but his recent stats, he's been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. You can't really make an argument otherwise.

Quarterback rankings are inherently subjective, though Goff's strong statistical performance with the Lions supports PFT's argument.

Max, predictably, is already looking ahead to the Eagles' season with a level of delusion that only a Philly fan can maintain. He's calling the shot early on Jalen Hurts.

Jalen Hurts will have an MVP-caliber year in 2026

Jalen Hurts is gonna have an MVP year this year. MVP A hundred percent. He will be in the conversation... He will be in the conversation at the end of the year.

The 2026 NFL season has not concluded, so the MVP race is still pending.

The Rocket Joins the Show

Roger Clemens joined the show and immediately established his aura, introducing himself simply as "The Rocket." He walked us through the psychology of the mound, explaining how he used to call 95% of his own pitches through subtle looks and hitches. From throwing the broken bat toward Mike Piazza to his legendary workouts, Clemens was an open book on what made him one of the most feared pitchers in history. He hasn't lost that edge, eitherโ€”he's currently planning a "Break 90" series to see if he can still hit 90 mph at 64 years old.

Velocity is the least important factor in successful pitching

Pitching's like buying property or a house: location, location, location. You gotta locate. Then you want your movement. Velocity's great; it's last.

This is a fundamental philosophy of sport and cannot be definitively proven right or wrong.

The Rocket also touched on the Hall of Fame discourse, expressing a sentiment that many fans have felt for years: the people who played the game should be the ones deciding who enters the pantheon.

The Baseball Hall of Fame should be voted on by current Hall of Famers, not baseball writers.

It should be peers. It should be guys in the Hall of Fame voting for more guys in the Hall of Fame. 'Cause they know what it takes to be a Hall of Famer, not the writers. That's really what it should be.

The ideal voting body for the Hall of Fame is a subjective sports debate topic.

Open Championship Preview with Shane Bacon

Our good friend Shane Bacon stopped by to get us ready for Royal Birkdale. He broke down the course's unique features, including the "Donut Bunker," and why this links setup favors accuracy over raw power. This is bad news for Bryson DeChambeau, who Bacon believes is currently trapped in a cycle of over-tinkering with his equipment.

Bryson DeChambeau must get away from single-length irons to fix his game

He uses these single length irons... Nobody's using single length irons except Bryson. I just think he's gotta get away from that and at least try something different with the irons. 'cause the iron play is just not good enough right now to win major championships.

This is a technical analysis and opinion on a player's equipment strategy.

When it came to picking a winner, Bacon is riding the Viktor Hovland wave, believing the Norwegian has finally ironed out his driver issues. However, the most poetic storyline belongs to Tommy Fleetwood. Big Cat is already all-in on Fleetwood after hearing about his childhood spent sneaking onto the very course where the tournament is being held.

Tommy Fleetwood is a 'must bet' for the Open Championship because he snuck onto the course as a kid

Tommy Fleetwood used to sneak on Royal Birkdale and practice with his dad when he was growing up. Yeah, you have to bet him. Now you have to understand this is the most, I I, oh it's poetic. It's perfect. I'm gonna bet right now.

The 2026 Open Championship is being played from July 16-19, 2026, at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. As of July 18, 2026 (after Round 3), Tommy Fleetwood was tied for ninth place, five shots behind the leader. The final round is scheduled for today, July 19, 2026, so the tournament outcome is still pending.

If you're looking for a safer bet to round out your card, Bacon thinks there's one name on the board that the books are currently disrespecting in terms of top-tier consistency.

Wyndham Clark is 'free money' for a top 20 finish at the 2026 Open Championship.

Wyndham is a top 10 bet right now. Wyndham is a top 10 bet everywhere. Like everywhere he plays, top 10, very confident... I just think if you're looking at numbers, look at Wyndham Clark and you see a decent number on a top 10, top 20 bet. I think it's kind of free money right now with Wyndham Clark.

Wyndham Clark missed the cut at the 2026 Open Championship, with scores of 73 and 70 for a total of +3. Therefore, he did not finish in the top 10 or top 20 as predicted.

We finished the show with a Mount Rushmore of stores or restaurants you could live in for the rest of your life. Costco was the runaway 1.1 pick, but things got interesting with selections like Bass Pro Shops and a Dave & Buster's. Hank tried to flex with a Carbone pick, which the guys immediately called out as a terrible place to spend 24 hours a day.

Next time you're at a Home Run Derby, just remember to boo like a Philadelphian.

Adrien Broner will not win another boxing title fight because his prime is definitively over.

I'm gonna say no... Fighters have to fight and their prime is their prime. And then you like walk away. It's over. It's the whole, like you can't, you can't do road work in silk pajamas. You can mark right where Conor McGregor's career took a nosedive is when he made a hundred million dollars fighting Floyd Mayweather.

Adrien Broner has not won a major world title fight since this prediction was made, and given his age and trajectory, it's highly unlikely.

Viktor Hovland will win the 2026 Open Championship

My pick is gonna be Victor Hovland... I just like the way Victor's played. Got the win over Scotty Scheffler. That's gotta help the confidence... I think Victor Hovland has found something. He's the guy that rides the confidence wave as well. I think Hovland's the open champion.

The 2026 Open Championship is being played from July 16-19, 2026. As of July 19, 2026, the final round is underway, and the winner has not yet been determined. Sam Burns was the 54-hole leader entering the final day.
