Week 16 Preview, Mike Florio, and Joey Harrington on JMU vs. Oregon

The Seahawks just pulled off a late-season thriller against the Rams, and the NFC playoff picture is officially a mess in the best way possible. Big Cat and PFT break down Sam Darnold’s incredible transformation from a pumpkin back into a human being just in time to secure a massive overtime win. While the guys were technically watching the game, Max was having a spiritual experience watching Wisconsin volleyball fall to the buzzsaw that is Ava Hudson.

Ava Hudson is the best volleyball player I've ever seen

Ava Hudson was insane. She might be the best volleyball player I've ever seen before in my life. And that's saying a lot.

This is a subjective opinion about player greatness.

Week 16 Picks and Preview

Scenario season is in full swing, and PFT is surprisingly at peace with the Commanders shutting down their franchise cornerstone. With Jayden Daniels sidelined, the focus shifts entirely to making sure the kid is healthy for the long haul rather than risking further damage in a lost season.

Deactivating Jayden Daniels for the rest of the season was the right decision for the future of the Commanders

He has been deactivated for the rest of the season. Deactivated for his own good 'cause he just keep trying to come back and get reinjured. I'm fine with it. I, I support the decision all in for 2027... I think it's the right decision.

This relates to a fictionalized 2025 scenario and cannot be judged against real-world results.

Saturday night gives us a classic Bears-Packers matchup at Soldier Field, and Big Cat isn't just hoping for a win; he’s demanding one. The vibe in Chicago has shifted from "happy to be here" to "we are actually good," and a loss to the rival Packers would send the city into a tailspin before a brutal final stretch.

The Bears vs. Packers Week 16 game is a must-win for Chicago to avoid playoff uncertainty

This one you gotta win because the Bears are most likely gonna make the playoffs if they lose this game. Then it starts to get, Hey, what's going on here? You start looking at the calculations and the 49ers are a game that's coming up next week and then the Lions in week 18. You don't want to get to a spot where the Lions Week 18 becomes a win and get in.

The Bears won the game and ultimately secured a playoff spot.

Despite the usual nerves that come with being a Chicago fan, Big Cat is finally ready to admit that the 2025 version of the Bears is simply the superior squad heading into this weekend.

The Bears are currently a better team than the Packers in our fictional 2025 timeline

I'm setting this game aside. I'm just saying in general, I believe in the Bears. They look like a different team. They look like a legitimate team. I think the Bears are gonna win... I think they're better than the Packers.

This is a subjective opinion within a fictionalized bit.

Moving to the AFC, the Chiefs are in a dark place after losing Patrick Mahomes to a torn ACL. Big Cat’s advice for the defending champs is simple: just go home. There's no point in grinding out meaningless December football when your season ended on a non-contact injury.

The Chiefs should just quit for the season now that Patrick Mahomes is out with a torn ACL

There's never been a team that like deserves to quit more than the Chiefs. They've been playing so much football for the last five years... Patrick Mahomes just tore his ACL. If you're a Chiefs player, listen to this right now. Just fucking quit. Just quit.

This is a satirical take based on fictional events.

In Cincinnati, the vibes are equally rancid. Between the team's refusal to clear snow off the stadium seats and Zac Taylor’s increasingly hot seat, it feels like the Bengals are nearing a breaking point.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is officially on the hot seat in this fictionalized 2025 season

This Z Taylor. Who's now on the hot seat officially, I would say... it feels like the hot seat is there. Whether the hot seat actually turns all the way up, I don't know.

Fictionalized scenario.

Mike Florio and Joey Harrington

Mike Florio joined the show to provide the legal and conspiratorial context we all crave. He didn't hold back on the Bengals' legendary cheapness regarding the "Snow-gate" incident at Paycor Stadium, but the real intrigue lies in Joe Burrow's recent behavior. Florio believes Burrow is playing a high-stakes game of chess with the front office.

Joe Burrow is using a 'Jedi mind trick' to get the Bengals to trade him without asking directly

I think what [Burrow] is trying to do is make the Bengals decide to trade him so that he doesn't have to say, I want to be traded and get them to recognize he's not happy... I think he's trying to do the Jedi mind trick to get them to trade him without him having to ask for it.

Fictionalized scenario.

Florio also threw some cold water on the future of other star quarterbacks and receivers. He’s convinced the Kyler Murray era in Arizona is effectively over, and he wouldn't be shocked to see a major shakeup in Philadelphia either.

AJ Brown will likely be traded by the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason

I won't be surprised if AJ Brown is traded in the off season. I think we're at the point where it makes sense for both sides for him to move on. They can find another receiver, they can make their offense go without him.

AJ Brown remained with the Eagles for the 2026 season.

Finally, Joey Harrington hopped on to preview the David vs. Goliath matchup between his Oregon Ducks and PFT’s JMU Dukes. While Harrington is confident in Dante Moore’s maturation, he’s terrified of the "atmospheric river" of rain hitting Eugene and what it could do for an underdog JMU team looking for a signature upset.

JMU has a legitimate chance to upset Oregon in the playoff due to extreme weather conditions

We have an atmospheric river coming here... you're going to get a sloppy game with potentially some James Madison fans there against an Oregon offense that's missing Corian Moore... Is it going to happen? Probably not. But it could.

Oregon defeated JMU decisively, 38-10.

Between the NFL playoff hunt and the first round of the college playoffs, we’re looking at a MegaDay of sports that might actually result in Big Cat and PFT losing their collective minds on the stream.

At least we know if the Dukes pull it off, PFT will be celebrating with a very specific, and probably kidney-stone-inducing, duck dinner.

The Cleveland Browns will cover the 10-point spread against the Buffalo Bills

I do like the bills, but I think the Browns might cover... I like the Browns at the very least in the first half of this game. I like 'em to cover 10 points.

The Bills defeated the Browns 31-13, meaning the Browns failed to cover the 10-point spread.

The Giants will beat the Vikings because their stock is low and they are still playing hard

I think I like the Giants in this game. The Viking stock very high right now... The Giants very, very low stock right now. But they're, I don't think the Giants are one of the worst three teams in the NFL... they're playing hard and Kafka's coaching the team... I would take the Giants plus three.

The Vikings beat the Giants 16-13 in Week 16. PFT predicted the Giants would win as a low-stock underdog, but the Vikings pulled out the close victory with a late field goal.

The Panthers will beat the Buccaneers because they are extremely dangerous as home underdogs

The Panthers are very good as underdogs. They got all seven wins as an underdog. They should not be favored in any game. I think I like the Panthers to win this one.

The Panthers beat the Buccaneers 23-20 in Week 16, just as PFT predicted. The Panthers won as home underdogs on a late Fitzgerald field goal.

The Lions will throttle the Steelers because Amon-Ra St. Brown has found his confidence again

I think [Amon-Ra St. Brown's] got it back. He's feeling it a little bit. He's getting, he's, he's just feeling like he's good again... gonna get fucking smoked in this game [Steelers]. I love Detroit in this game.

The Steelers beat the Lions 29-24 in Week 16. Big Cat predicted the Lions would 'throttle' the Steelers, but Detroit lost in a controversial finish where a Jared Goff TD on the final play was negated by OPI.

The Patriots will bounce back and beat the Ravens behind Drake Maye in our fictional 2025 week 16

I'm nervous, but I'm excited. I think the boys are gonna bounce back in big way. Great team, former MVP, two-time MVP. I'm expecting the Ravens to, you know, they're fighting for the playoffs... but give me the... Patriots plus three.

The Patriots beat the Ravens 28-24 in Week 16. Hank predicted the Patriots would bounce back and beat the Ravens behind Drake Maye, and that's exactly what happened. Maye threw for 380 yards and led two fourth-quarter TD drives to erase an 11-point deficit.

The Bengals are the cheapest team in the NFL for failing to clear snow from stadium seats

If you would've been asked to guess which of the 32 teams would've been too cheap to pay for somebody to come remove the snow from the seats, anyone would've guessed the Cincinnati Bengals... The Bengals are the cheapest team. That's their reputation and it's well earned.

This is a subjective characterization of team management.

The Arizona Cardinals are guaranteed to move on from Kyler Murray

They want to be able to move on from Kyler Murray and they're gonna move on from him. They're probably gonna have to release him. And then the question becomes who wants him?

The Cardinals did not move on from Kyler Murray in the 2026 offseason.

The Bills will face the 49ers in the Super Bowl in our fictionalized 2025 season

Let's say, let's say Bills coming out of the AFC and... there's a very easy path for the 49ers... win the division to get the number one seed... pick the Bills and the 49ers. Let's go.

Mike Florio predicted a Bills vs. 49ers Super Bowl. Neither team made it. The Bills lost in the Divisional Round to Denver 33-30. The 49ers lost in the Divisional Round to Seattle 41-6. The actual Super Bowl was Seahawks vs. Patriots.

Oregon can win the National Championship behind the maturity of quarterback Dante Moore

What do you need to make a great run in any playoff... you need a quarterback who's going to take control... he [Dante Moore] has absolutely just matured into a guy who's now completed almost 80% of his passes in the back half of the season.

Oregon lost in the semi-finals to Georgia.
