The 2022 Cincinnati Bengals are in the exact same spot they were during their 2021 Super Bowl run

If you're a Bengals fan, you gotta be in the back of your head being like, oh look at the schedule. We're six and four... We have basically the same setup where if we just get everyone healthy and put it back together, we're gonna be in the exact same spot going into the playoffs.

The 2022 Bengals did follow a similar path, finishing 12-4 and reaching the AFC Championship game, nearly mirroring their 2021 run.

The 2022 Jets are a mirrors-image of the 2018 Chicago Bears

The comparison I've been making is the Jets this season feel like the 2018 Chicago Bears. And I say that because the Chicago Bears in 2018 were an elite defense. This Jets team has an elite defense. So good. The quarterback [Zach Wilson] was in their second year, second overall pick... It goes to the same problem of your team can be good and your quarterback's bad.

The Jets finished 7-10 while having a top-5 defense, mirroring the frustration of the 2018 Bears (though the Bears actually made the playoffs that year).

Zach Wilson's ceiling is still Patrick Mahomes

I know this sounds crazy, but I really think [Zach Wilson's] ceiling's Patrick Mahomes. Just, it sounds crazy... I still think his ceiling is there.

Zach Wilson was eventually benched and traded to Denver, never coming close to Mahomes' level of play.

Jeff Saturday will keep the Colts physically tough and competitive as 'cover machines'

The Colts continued to do what I think [Jeff] Saturday's gonna have him do, which is just be cover machines. And they played physically... I actually do think that the Colts are gonna continue to be super physical, maybe not like the most electric team... but they're not gonna roll over for anybody like they were before.

The Colts lost seven straight games to end the season after PFT made this take, including the largest blown lead in NFL history.

The Ravens are using a physical loophole to back out of the Maxx Crosby trade

I'm calling bullshit on all this. It does feel like something's fishy here. And maybe it's just the Ravens using the loophole of, hey, we can see, we can trade for Maxx Crosby, see how the rest of free agency plays out, knowing that this stupid legal tampering and then official free agency, there's a two day gap and then just figure it out later.

The trade was literally rescinded, but the 'nefarious loophole' theory is a subjective interpretation of front office tactics.

The NFL needs a 'no-backsies' rule for players who post elaborate social media goodbye videos

If you post a 13 minute goodbye video on social media like Maxx Crosby did, that should just be trade final. You can't come back on that... I actually am rooting for Maxx Crosby to be on the Raiders now because that will be so awkward and funny.

This is a humorous rule proposal, not a verifiable prediction.

The Panthers were right to overpay for Jaelan Phillips

The Panthers getting Jaelan Phillips, even though it was a lot of money, I feel like you gotta do it. Cap went up and I feel like you have to do those type of moves, especially when you are a playoff team from last year. Your defense was a problem... I'd be like, oh, Howie's interested? I'll give him more money.

The success of the Panthers' defense with Phillips will determine if the overpay was justified.
