Andy Dalton is a better quarterback than Mitchell Trubisky

He's better than Mitchell Trubisky. ... Because he is. He's a better player. ... [Mitchell Trubisky] looked good in the preseason, but there's some guys that when they're playing with as the starter, the pressure is too much for him.

This is a subjective comparison between two quarterbacks who were both moving into backup or bridge roles shortly after this take.

Dak Prescott is officially back and might not have been as injured as reported

Dak, I think, is back. I'm actually starting to think that maybe he wasn't as hurt as Jerry [Jones] was letting us know that he was.

Dak played 16 games and threw for over 4,400 yards in 2021, proving he was fully recovered from the 2020 ankle injury.

Tom Brady will play for at least another three years

If you had to bet and you're like, all right, he's going to play for another three years, I wouldn't bet against that. It's crazy. It defies everything.

Tom Brady played two more seasons (2021, 2022) after this take before retiring in early 2023.

I will bet heavy on the Chargers this year to hedge against my own Washington expectations

I'm going to bet heavy on the Chargers. ... Because I regrettably have expectations for the Washington football team. But I'm going to bet against them because I've made the decision in my brain of how many dollars I'm willing to pay for a win.

The Chargers finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs in 2021, while Washington went 7-10. The 'heavy bet' on the Chargers likely didn't pay off as they missed postseason expectations.

The Bears are still a year away from being real contenders

I'm a little more realistic because I look at the schedule and see, you know, that they really have what—they played one team with a winning record and lost to 'em. I'm a little apprehensive... I just don't think this is their year. I think they're a year away.

The Bears went 11-6, won the NFC North, and won a playoff game. They were NOT a year away - they were contenders this year.

Sam Darnold will eventually revert to his old, mistake-prone self because 'you are what you are'

Usually this league you are what you are. You're gonna have moments where you're up here... and moments when you're down here... eventually you're in the middle and that's who you are... [Sam Darnold] looked frazzled [last week] and that can't happen. It just can't happen in the big games... there's a Sam Darnold problem at least in my mind.

The take is a subjective long-term outlook on a player's career trajectory.

The 7-4 Chargers will miss the playoffs

They're not making the playoffs... and it's gonna come down to that Chiefs Chargers game and I think the Chiefs will beat 'em. They're seven and four, but if you look at their schedule, it's brutal. And that offensive line is horrible. Yanked [Penning] out of the game. It's a terrible offensive line.

Pete Prisco predicted the 7-4 Chargers would miss the playoffs. The Chargers finished 11-6 and made the playoffs as a Wild Card team, losing to the Patriots 16-3 in the first round.
