It was time for me to own my own podcast network rather than just being a contractor for other companies.

My contract with the Ringer was up. I've been there for three years and for Tommy [Alter] and I, we just wanted to own the podcast. I figured I had been doing podcasts for four years and I felt like it was time for me to actually own the podcast and build out a little podcast network.

This is a personal business philosophy.

Devin Booker is officially 'a dude' because of how he celebrated his game-winner

I'm on board the Devin Booker train just watching his body language after he made the shot. He basically went to sleep... a person that reacts like that, that guy is a dude.

Subjective take on a player's 'it' factor.

The NCAA should run the March Madness tournament in a bubble right now

Why aren't we just doing the NCAA tournament right now? Like if someone... go, yeah. Hey, whoever wants to win the presidential election just pay for it. Like that would be pretty good. How about him in a bubble? And let's just do the NCAA tournament.

They never did this; college sports returned on a more traditional schedule later that fall.

The hockey ice in Toronto is significantly worse than the ice in Edmonton

Can someone explain to me going back to hockey the difference between the ice in Edmonton and the ice in Toronto because the Toronto ice sucks... Toronto ice is super choppy. It's like iced soup.

While subjective, many players and analysts echoed that the Toronto ice struggled under the heat and high volume of games.

The Minnesota Timberwolves match up better against the Denver Nuggets than anyone else in the NBA.

I think this Minnesota team probably matches up as well as anyone in the NBA versus the Denver Nuggets. I'm really fascinated by this series.

The Timberwolves went on to beat the Nuggets in a 7-game series, proving they were indeed an excellent matchup.

The overall talent depth in the NBA is as high as it's ever been and is spread out across more teams.

I think the overall talent depth, meaning the amount of really good players in the NBA is as high as it's ever been. And that depth of talent is spread out more than it's ever been. There's not the concentration of three really good players on one team... There's the concentration of two or three really good players on a bunch of teams.

This is a subjective assessment of league-wide talent, though shared by many modern analysts.

The current NBA landscape marks the beginning of the death of the 'Super Team'.

I said at the beginning of the year... this year could be the beginning of the death of the super team. Part of that is the new second apron in the CBA... you have to build through the draft. And then be positioned... to then make an impactful trade.

The 2024 playoffs saw the Suns, Lakers, and Warriors (teams with high concentrations of veteran star salary) exit early, while homegrown teams like the Celtics, Nuggets, and Thunder thrived, supporting this take.
