The Rams being number three on the depth chart with the first overall pick Jared Goff is a bad sign for everyone

Number three on the depth chart is the first overall pick. That's not good for anybody. And I would say jokingly, back when the Rams picked [Jared] Goff, remember, these are the same people who thought Nick Foles was the answer a year ago. And what was once a joke, I think, is gradually becoming dead serious that maybe they've gotten it wrong two years in a row.

While Goff struggled initially and was eventually replaced by Stafford to win a Super Bowl, he did have several very good years with the Rams, making 'gotten it wrong' only partially accurate.

The NFL books terrible pregame bands like OneRepublic on purpose to show power over the audience

I think the NFL does that on purpose. They always have the world's shittiest band opening up for the season... They do it on purpose just to say, like, fuck you, you're going to watch. We could wheel out Ozzy Osbourne while he's in a coma, and you would still tune in and watch.

This is a subjective observation about NFL branding and fan behavior.

Cam Newton and Ron Rivera had the worst clock management of the 2016 season so far

Cam Newton and analytical Ron, probably the worst clock management that we've seen in the 2016 NFL season so far. They burned every single timeout within the first five minutes of the first half.

Subjective performance review, though many analysts agreed the clock management was poor in that specific game.

Trevor Siemian is the perfect Northwestern quarterback because he is bad but okay

Trevor Siemian, not that bad, but also not that good. Kind of like perfect Northwestern quarterback. He reminded you that he's Trevor Siemian, but then he made a couple of throws that were okay... He was bad, but he was also good.

Subjective player evaluation.

Aaron Donald is going to come back to the Rams, potentially by this Friday

I think [Aaron Donald] is coming back and I think we may hear from him by Friday. Oh, that he is coming back. If he decides to come back, that's the key... he's making the decision soon and they'll have him on the field week one.

Mike Florio predicted that Aaron Donald would announce his return to the Rams by Friday, August 14, 2026. As of August 14, 2026, no official announcement of Aaron Donald's return to the Rams had been made. Reports indicated that a decision was expected by the end of the week, but no confirmation of his return was made by the specified deadline.

The Vikings will trade either JJ McCarthy or Kyler Murray because the loser of the QB battle won't accept being a backup

Whoever loses that quarterback competition isn't going to be very happy. Kyler Murray didn't go there to be the backup. JJ McCarthy feels like he hasn't gotten a fair shake... let's hope we can unload [McCarthy] and then go with three guys. Murray, Carson Wentz... and Max Brosmer.

Training camp is ongoing; the roster moves will likely occur before week one or by the trade deadline.

Baker Mayfield might sign with the Steelers for less money just to spite the Buccaneers for not paying him

Once [Baker Mayfield] is a free agent, it doesn't matter if somebody else is offering less, he could take less just as a middle finger to the Buccaneers for not paying him when they had the chance. I could see him taking less money to go to Pittsburgh... Pittsburgh is the perfect destination for him.

Mayfield is currently under contract with Tampa Bay; this refers to his future free agency move.
