Pete Alonso winning the 2019 Home Run Derby will be a Slumdog Millionaire trivia question because Vlad Jr. dominated the aggregate

In about five years, you're going to be asked who won this home run derby. Just remember, it was Pete Alonso. I'm giving you money right now... [Vlad Jr.] didn't win the derby itself because of the way that they reset when you go into the final round.

Pete Alonso did literally win the title, while Vlad Jr. holds the memory of the performance, making the trivia point valid.

Vlad Guerrero Jr. should be in every single Home Run Derby for the rest of time

I want Vlad Guerrero in every single home run derby for the rest of time. He is electric... if you watch Vlad Guerrero take any of his practice swings like a week ago, you knew that he was going to be a show. You knew he was going to be awesome to watch.

Vlad Jr. has been a frequent participant and highlight of the derby since 2019, confirming he is a 'show'.

Hitting a home run is the ultimate way to beat the shift

You learn the rules of baseball because isn't hitting a home run beating the shift every single time? You just actually blew my mind. You beat the shift when you hit a home run over everyone.

A home run clears all defenders regardless of where they are positioned on the field.

Mic'ing up baseball players might actually save baseball

We were watching and they had someone at bat who was mic'd up. I think it was Freddie Freeman. And I have to admit, I think it might save baseball. With all that said, it could definitely save baseball.

While it didn't 'save' baseball from its regional nature, mic'd up segments have become extremely popular and a staple of Sunday Night Baseball.

The 4-1 loss to Belgium was the worst USMNT performance in years

That was the worst performance from the US that I've seen in years. Just completely lackluster from the start. So much blame to go around. Tim Ream, friend of the program, good guy over the hill, turned into soccer Shawn Bradley before our very eyes got dunked on twice.

Subjective opinion on the quality of the performance.

Christian Pulisic was a 'no-show' and looked like he didn't care against Belgium

Christian Pulisic, the long anointed Captain America future face of this league for American soccer. Absolute no show of a game, I would say worse than a no show of a game. And then he checks himself out. Just looks lackluster, looks like he doesn't care at all. Had the most turnovers on the field of anybody. That played just really, really, really bad.

Subjective evaluation of Pulisic's effort and performance.

The US will never close the skill gap compared to the rest of the world in soccer

People will never close the skill gap. USA will never close the skill gap compared to the rest of the world in soccer.

Historically, the US has struggled to produce technical talent on par with Brazil or Europe.
