The NFL will let Patrick Mahomes play in the AFC Championship regardless of his concussion status

I forgot that Roger Goodell was in charge of the NFL. Yeah. You thought for a second that we actually cared about player safety. Roger Goodell probably would delay the game by week... just to make Patrick Mahomes play... their star player is going to play and they'll find any way to spin it that it wasn't a concussion.

Fact ClaimFootballHotSarcastic
Mahomes was cleared from concussion protocol on the Friday before the game and played in the AFC Championship.

Philip Rivers will eventually get into the Hall of Fame

I think [Philip Rivers] will eventually get in the Hall of Fame. He's not a first-ballot Hall of Famer. I think he will eventually get in. But he obviously will get dinged for the lack of playoff wins and the lack of a signature win and the lack of a Super Bowl. But when you actually look at it... Phillip Rivers was the better quarterback in terms of numbers throughout his career [compared to Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger].

Philip Rivers is not yet eligible for the Hall of Fame (first eligible in 2026).

Philip Rivers would have won more Super Bowls than Eli Manning if their roles were reversed

If the Chargers had drafted Eli Manning and he didn't hold out and demand a trade to the Giants? I think that Phillip Rivers would have won more Super Bowls than Eli Manning did.

This is a hypothetical historical scenario that can never be proven.

I would put Dan Campbell above Jim Tomsula as my favorite interim coach ever

He is my favorite interim coach of all time. I'd even put him above Jim Tomsula in terms of Coach O. Coach O has kind of risen above that... But Dan Campbell, I think, is the ultimate essence of an interim head coach.

Subjective ranking of favorite coaches.

Nate Oats needs to teach his players to never let the police look through their phones

Let the Aden Holloway situation be a reminder to everybody that you don't have to let the police look through your phone. I actually point the finger at Nate Oats for this, because Nate Oats, you gotta do a better job of explaining the first through fifth amendments to your players. Given the history that you've had... day one you should have a, get the guys from Morgan & Morgan to come in and be like, 'Do not talk to the police if you're in trouble. Shut the fuck up.'

This is a satirical advice piece and commentary on Nate Oats' coaching responsibilities.

Mark Pope is on the hot seat at Kentucky after this tournament performance

Mark Pope on the hot seat. I think he is. I mean, I think they're gonna bring him back. I think he's safe for this year, but I think he's going into next year. Seat is warm.

Pending — Mark Pope's job status at Kentucky after the 2025-26 season is not yet resolved.

Every major college coaching opening should start by calling Brad Stevens and making him say no

You gotta make him say no. You gotta call Brad Stevens and make him say no. I will personally never stop saying that. He probably wakes up every morning and says no. Voicemail just says, 'Thank you so much for the consideration, but it's gonna be a no.' It would be shocking if he ever took another college job.

This is an opinion on coaching search strategy.
