The Washington Nationals will win the World Series based on the Sports Illustrated cover logic

Actually, what this means is that in what, seven years the Nationals beat World Series champions? Because they predicted the Astros, the rise of the Astros. True. So whenever the first time that they picked the Nats was like eight or nine years from then, that's when they're finally going to win.

The Nationals won the World Series in 2019, exactly one season after this take, making PFT's timing calculation surprisingly close.

Duke is guaranteed to win the 2018 NCAA Tournament

We already know Duke's going to win it all. Yes. That is guaranteed. Yes. It's their year. Yes.

Villanova won the 2018 NCAA Tournament; Duke lost in the Elite Eight to Kansas.

Kentucky will overlook their opponents and fail to reach the Final Four

I think something's going to happen in Kentucky. Yes. It's too easy for them, isn't it? Yes. It's just too set up for Kentucky to win the Elite Eight and go to the Final Four. Are they overlooking their opponents?

Kentucky lost to #9 seed Kansas State in the Sweet 16, so the prediction that 'something would happen' and they would fail to make the Final Four was correct.

I would kill the horse Nyquist to recruit LeBron James to my basketball team

I'm totally serious about killing Nyquist. That's not a threat. That's an actual thing. We're threatening LeBron that he might get more horse heads in his bed if he doesn't sign with the breakers.

This is a hyperbolic comedic statement. While he didn't actually kill the horse, the 'truth' of the take is subjective to the bit.

The Chiefs' window never closed

I don't think we ever actually closed the Chiefs' window. I think Mahomes was just in bed because he was injured, far away from the window.

The Chiefs' long-term contention status is ultimately subjective, though their dynasty remained active at the time of the episode.

Mahomes will be back to himself by season's end

By the end of this season, Mahomes is gonna be back to being Mahomes.

Whether Mahomes returned to his established level by the end of the 2026 NFL season had not yet been resolved.

The Oregon loss could turn Dan Lanning into a psychopath

I don't think that Dan Lanning has slept since that loss. I think Dan Lanning has turned into an absolute psycho because of this loss. He's sick. It actually might be a dangerous thing for the rest of the Big Ten that Oregon lost that game.

Whether the loss made Oregon more dangerous over the rest of the season is a future, testable team-performance claim.
