The Indiana Pacers won the trade deadline by adding Ivica Zubac while maintaining a path to a top-four pick

I look at the Pacers, you know, like you add a top five center in [Zubac]... you clean up some of your cap stuff, you bring in a top center who's gonna make you a little different... and then you have a chance at the top four pick here... I like what they did because they were doing something long-term while also making sure that they're tanking.

Ryen Russillo's take that the Pacers 'won the trade deadline' by adding a 'top five center' in Ivica Zubac and maintaining a path to a top-four pick proved incorrect. While the Pacers did acquire Ivica Zubac, he was not widely considered a top-five center, with rankings placing him closer to the top 8-10. More significantly, despite tanking to a 19-63 record and having a high chance at a top-four pick, the Pacers' 2026 first-round pick was top-four protected and conveyed to the Los Angeles Clippers as the 5th overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft. This outcome, where the Pacers lost their high draft pick, led to the trade being widely described as a 'disaster' for Indiana.

Going to Disney World after winning the Super Bowl is actually a punishment

The Disney world thing that they have to do is just punishment. Sam Darnold and Kenneth Walker being in the teacups right after the game when it's like all you wanna do is party with your boys. That sucks.

It was still hard for me to believe that they're just not gonna win national championships now because of NIL. That's the kind of parity. I think the SEC is gonna turn this thing back around where they're gonna start rolling through people again.

BYU is ranked far too highly to be trusted

I was arguing Texas Tech being overlooked because at least they have some P4 wins in there. They looked like shit against Colorado. BYU is eighth in both polls. I'm not putting them in there.

Whether BYU deserves its ranking and can contend is evaluable over the 2026 season, which is not complete.
