Chris Long on the Super Bowl, Carson Wentz, and Bus Driver Larry
Big Cat and PFT Commenter are officially on the road to Atlanta for Super Bowl 53, and they’ve already encountered the first great character of the trip: Larry the Bus Driver. Taping from the Devour RV, the energy is high as the show prepares for a week of chaos. Before getting to the guests, they had to address the bombshell report regarding the Cleveland Browns' organizational dysfunction, which included the incredible detail of a hashtag search gone wrong that broadcast adult content throughout the facility for twenty minutes. Big Cat remains optimistic that the adults are finally in the room, though.
Baker Mayfield and John Dorsey will successfully change the Browns' culture
I really do think [Baker Mayfield] and John Dorsey are the two guys that can change a culture and have people stop putting really graphic porn on the wall when you walk into the Browns facility.
The guys also touched on the lingering saltiness in New Orleans following the NFC Championship. While Saints fans are busy reading bylaws and demanding congressional hearings, Big Cat is ready to move on, suggesting that while the missed call was legendary, the two teams weren't exactly miles apart in quality.
The Rams and Saints were equal enough that the NFC Championship outcome wasn't a total travesty
Maybe it's not better team won, but they couldn't have been more equal in my mind. So I'm not feeling like it was this huge travesty... If they played 10 times, they would go 5-5 probably.
Two-time Super Bowl Champion and two-time PMT Lib of the Year Chris Long joined the bus in Philly for a wide-ranging interview. Big Cat immediately tried to trick him into announcing his retirement on the show, but Chris wasn't ready to give them the scoop just yet, noting he still needs to listen to his body and his two-month-old son before making a call.
I will play another year of football in 2019
I am going to retire at some point... [but] I don't know what the future holds... I'm going to take the next couple months... then I'll make a decision.
Chris provided some much-needed perspective on the "anonymous source" drama surrounding Carson Wentz in the Eagles' locker room. While reports painted Wentz as a diva, Chris went the opposite direction, describing him as a teammate so perfect it actually makes other people feel bad about their own character.
Carson Wentz is the greatest person character-wise to walk the earth
Carson Wentz is like the greatest person character-wise to walk the earth, bro... I limit my time around Carson Wentz because he makes me feel bad about myself. He makes me feel bad about myself by being awesome.
When the conversation turned to the actual football played this year, Chris defended his teammate Alshon Jeffery after the heartbreaking drop against the Saints. He didn't just defend him; he put him at the top of the list of guys he's played with, which is a massive statement considering Chris has shared locker rooms with some of the best in the game.
Alshon Jeffery is the best receiver I have ever played with
In my opinion, [Alshon Jeffery] is the best receiver I've played with. I mean, he is automatic... when I say Alshon is the best receiver, I'm talking about number one, go up and get it, you throw him the ball, he just picks on people.
Having played for both the Patriots and the Rams, Chris offered a unique breakdown of the upcoming Super Bowl matchup. He highlighted Bill Belichick’s ability to change his entire identity on the fly as the reason the Patriots are never truly out of it.
Bill Belichick is the best at adapting his game plan mid-season and mid-game
One thing that Bill does a great job of is he adapts. He adapts not only at the beginning of each season, but he'll adapt going into a game. He's great at identifying [strengths and weaknesses].
However, the Rams have a literal lab-grown monster on the defensive interior. Chris spent time with Aaron Donald in St. Louis and remains convinced that Donald is the most physically dominant force in the league, reach-wise and strength-wise.
Aaron Donald is the perfect football player and the baddest dude in the NFL
This kid's the perfect football player. Perfect. It's like they made him in a Petri dish... In my opinion, he's the baddest dude in the NFL as far as just being a badass.
The episode wrapped up with the debut of Kate Barstool, who delivered a brutal three-minute roast of Chris Long to his face, and an introductory interview with Larry the Bus Driver. Larry is a former Coast Guard machinist and street racer from the Bronx who might actually be the human reincarnation of Larry the Goldfish.
If the Coast Guard ever needs a new recruitment film, they should just hire Larry to talk about drag racing Roadrunners through the Bronx.
