Colt McCoy and Sean Stellato on Texas, the Tommy DeVito Craze, and MNF
Drew Lock is officially back, and the Eagles are officially in a tailspin. Monday Night Football gave us a classic backup quarterback redemption story as Lock led a game-winning drive that had Big Cat and PFT ready to strap on their backpacks and secure the bag. While Lock was emotional at the podium, Max was busy mourning the death of the Eagles' season from behind the glass.
The Eagles Funeral and Jalen Hurts' Slide
Max didn't hold back, declaring the season effectively over after Philly dropped their third straight game. The guys looked at the offense and realized that without Shane Steichen, things have become clunky and predictable. Big Cat even pointed out that the current offensive coordinator might be the best argument for Steichen's legacy.
Shane Steichen should get Coach of the Year because of how bad the Eagles' offense looks without him
Shane Steichen actually should get coached of the year by virtue of how bad the Eagle's offense [is].
The conversation then turned to the face of the franchise. Jalen Hurts looked sick in more ways than one, and Big Cat is officially jumping off the bandwagon. Hurts' turnovers are piling up, and the elite status he earned last year is starting to evaporate.
Jalen Hurts is no longer a top five quarterback in the NFL
He's [Jalen Hurts] outta my top five. No longer Elite. Top five is as as follows. Mahomes, Allen, Purdy, Lamar, Burrow.
PFT even questioned if the Eagles were ever actually the juggernaut we thought they were, or if they just took advantage of a lucky break in the NFC Championship last year. Between the coaching issues and the aging roster, Max believes the window is slamming shut.
The coaching staff is ruining the Eagles' Super Bowl window
The window continued into this year, but the coaching has been fucking horrible. This was a window ruining year.
Colt McCoy on Texas and Backup Life
Texas legend Colt McCoy joined the show to discuss the Longhorns' return to glory and the upcoming Sugar Bowl. Colt has a unique perspective on the program's evolution and what it takes to win in Austin. He’s also the guy who helped recruit Arch Manning, and he’s been preaching the gospel of patience to the young phenom.
Redshirting was the best thing that ever happened to me in college
The best thing that ever happened to me was I redshirted and was able to sit in the meetings and be at practice and run Scout team the year that we won the National Championship in '05 with Vince Young... I've told [Arch Manning], I said the best thing that ever happened to me was Redshirting. I know it's not that cool to do and it sucks, especially in this day and age, but like I'm just telling you, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
Colt broke down the matchup against Washington, noting that while the Huskies have elite weapons on the outside, he feels confident in Sarkisian’s squad. He also shared some incredible stories about his 14-year NFL career, including his legendary love for raw milk and the time a coach had to tell players to attend the starter's party instead of his.
Texas has the upper hand against Washington in the Sugar Bowl
I still like Texas with the upper hand. I think Texas is gonna have to play well, but I still, I still like Texas with the upper hand.
Sean Stellato: The Italian Stallion of Agents
In one of the most electric studio appearances in a while, Tommy DeVito’s agent Sean Stellato stopped by on the very day he was being inducted into the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame. Rocking a custom suit and shoes featuring the boat his ancestors took to America, Stellato leaned into the "slimy" comments from Peyton Manning with grace and grit. He’s a guy who truly lives the Rocky lifestyle, complete with 5:00 AM ocean plunges in Salem.
Tommy DeVito hasn't even scratched the surface of what he will become
I don't even think he's scratched what he will become. 'cause he's got a boulder of cutlets on his shoulder... I think he's a phenomenal player. He's comfortable now. And he's won the locker room.
Stellato didn't just talk about "Tommy Cutlets." He put his reputation on the line for another client, EJ Perry, claiming the kid is a physical freak who belongs in the league. If Stellato says he can play, given his track record with DeVito, you have to listen.
EJ Perry is an absolute baller who should be in the NFL
This EJ Perry is an absolute baller, hits a golf ball 360 yards, 360 dunks, and he'll go on the whiteboard and do some Matt Damon stuff from Goodwill Hunting. I'm telling you, I earned a little validation on my assessment of talent and he's phenomenal.
Hot Seat, Cool Throne and the All-White Team
Rashard Mendenhall set the internet on fire this week by suggesting an All-Black vs. All-White NFL game to settle the debate once and for all. PFT immediately started crunching the numbers on the All-White secondary, realizing that while the tight end room is stacked, they might have to recruit Julian Edelman to play cornerback just to survive Tyreek Hill.
Christian McCaffrey is the best player in the NFL right now
Christian McCaffrey is so good at football. Yes. That he could make an all white team beat an all black team. He's literally the best player in the NFL right now.
Finally, the guys took aim at the Swifties again after being "canceled" for pointing out Taylor's use of the F-word. In a world where Big Cat and PFT are defenders of the shield, they made it clear that some things are sacred.
There is no room for swearing in sports
I've never seen Mahomes swear. I've never seen him swear. Never. Not once. I've never seen a coach swear. There's no, there's no room for swearing in sports... What I'm trying to say is there's no place for swearing at a football game in the stands.
If you see a guy in a fedora eating 24 inches of subs this Sunday, just know he's living his best life.
