Dan Hurley on Title Run, Kirk Goldsberry NBA Preview, and Dan Snyder Sells
The day has finally arrived for PFT. After years of suffering, Dan Snyder has officially agreed to sell the Washington Commanders to Josh Harris. PFT is trying to stay subdued since he’s already celebrated this fake news about five times before, but it feels different now that the $6 billion price tag is actually attached to it.
Josh Harris will officially be the new owner of the Commanders
It was announced today. It's Josh Harris. He's gonna take over the team... He's already an owner, kind of, of an NFL team. He's a part owner of the Steelers. They're gonna vote him in. It's, this is a done deal and it's gonna happen and everything's gonna be good.
PFT is already planning the parade in DC, though Big Cat was quick to point out that Snyder still managed to walk away with a massive profit for being an absolute piece of garbage for two decades. Still, the bad man is gone and the sleeping giant might be waking up.
The NFL has awoken a 'sleeping giant' in Washington D.C. with the sale of the Commanders
All I'm saying is be careful what you wish for NFL, because you have awoken a sleeping giant in Washington DC.
Diar DeRozan: The Play-In GOAT
Wednesday night gave us one of the most legendary defensive performances in NBA history, and it didn't come from anyone on the court. Big Cat’s Bulls are moving on because Diar DeRozan, DeMar’s daughter, single-handedly rattled the Raptors from the free-throw line. The Raptors missed 18 free throws, and the high-pitched screams are the only explanation.
Diar DeRozan single-handedly won the play-in game for the Bulls against the Raptors
Diar DeRozan stole the story of the play-in game on Wednesday night. She single-handedly stopped the Toronto Raptors... She was screaming so loud before every free throw that the Raptors took in a dead silent arena. The Raptors went 18 for 36 from the free throw line. Ended up losing the game by what four? It was she won that game for the Bulls.
Big Cat thinks the NBA might have a problem on its hands because you can’t exactly kick out a player’s daughter for being too loud. She is a tactical advantage that no other team can replicate, making her the top pick in any prospective daughter draft.
Diar DeRozan is the #1 overall NBA daughter
She's great. She's way better than Riley Curry. Yes. Before ranking NBA daughters, I got her one A in my daughter draft. I think that she was, she was great.
Dan Hurley Wins It All
Fresh off cutting down the nets, Dan Hurley joined the show to discuss UConn's dominant tournament run. He addressed the "Zen" rumors and assured Big Cat that he hasn't gone soft despite the media trying to paint him as a matured coach. The rage is still there; it's just being channeled more effectively. He also took a moment to address Max, who bet against the Huskies in every single game of the tournament.
UConn 'bleeds blue' and is creating its own category beyond traditional Blue Bloods
His thing is like, no, forget the blue blood. You know, we're a program that bleeds blue. Max the bleed blue. So like we're gonna create our own because we've got the five national championships and NBA players for days in the last 20 years. Most of anyone... We don't even wanna be a blue blood. We're our own kind of deal.
While Hurley is happy in Storrs, he didn't slam the door shut on the professional ranks forever. He’s a basketball lifer who grew up in the shadow of his legendary father and brother, and now he has the hardware to back up the talk.
I aspire to coach in the NBA someday
No, I'm not, I, I've still got some, I got some developing to do on the sideline. There's no one coaching like me in the NBA. They're not ready... I do believe, I mean, that is something I aspire to, you know, down the road. You know, I love college. I, I hope I could, you know, continue to put UConn in this position moving forward.
NBA Playoff Preview with Kirk Goldsberry
Kirk Goldsberry stopped by to help the guys make sense of a Western Conference that currently looks like it's driving drunk. He's high on the Lakers' defensive turnaround and thinks they are the most dangerous lower seed we've ever seen in this format.
The Lakers are the scariest team to ever come out of the play-in tournament
But the Lakers to me are the scariest team to ever come out of the play tournament. Does that mean they're gonna [make] the finals? Of course not, but geez Yeah. LeBron James Anthony Davis. That's a pretty scary seven seed, don't you think?
Kirk also highlighted the pressure building in Philadelphia. Between James Harden's history and Doc Rivers' recent playoff struggles, the Sixers are entering this postseason with everything on the line.
The 76ers have the most 'legacy at stake' this postseason
Until we see it, you know, it's fair to hang that on [James Harden] a little bit and if there's one player and one team who has sort of a legacy at stake, this postseason... it's the Philadelphia 76ers. And the other one I would say is Doc Rivers is part of that. It's not just James. Doc Rivers hasn't been a great playoff coach in the last five, 10 years either.
As for the Finals, Kirk gave us a few different looks, including a 2021 rematch. He’s leaning toward the Bucks because of their health and championship pedigree, but he thinks the Suns' ceiling with Kevin Durant is undeniable if they can just stay on the floor.
The Bucks will beat the Suns in the NBA Finals
First finals prediction is a 2021 rematch bucks suns... I think if either of those guys has to miss games, which is reasonable to expect, unfortunately that suns prediction would fall apart pretty fast... So my first son's, my first is sun's bucks and I take the bucks and that matchup.
Fyre Fest and the Thousand Pound Club
Fyre Fest was highlighted by Big Cat's newfound athleticism. After running a sub-8:00 mile, he has decided to aim for the 1,000-pound club. He's doing it naturally, which Billy Football thinks is a mistake, but Big Cat is committed to the bit even if it results in a catastrophic back injury.
I will join the 1,000 pound club naturally within a year
Challenge myself and I'm gonna get hurt. And that's gonna suck... I'm gonna try to do a thousand pound club, Billy... It's deadlift, squat, bench. A thousand pounds... I'm doing it all natural. No, I'm doing it. It's either all natural or can't do.
Hank is also full of confidence, specifically regarding the Boston Bruins. He’s calling them the greatest regular-season team ever and isn't showing a single ounce of fear heading into the playoffs.
The Bruins are the greatest regular season hockey team ever and will dominate the playoffs
I'm all out on this team. This team is different. They're the greatest hockey team I've ever watched in the regular season. They're the greatest regular season team of all time. They're gonna dominate, they're gonna run through these playoffs.
Maybe the real Fyre Fest is Billy losing his AC unit and deciding he'll just sweat through the summer until he can find it in his apartment.
