Dan Orlovsky on Super Wild Card Weekend and Big Cat's Big Secret
Wake up the echoes because Marcus Freeman and the Irish are headed to the National Championship after a gritty win over Penn State. While the game started as a defensive struggle, the second half belonged to Notre Dame. Big Cat is officially a believer in the Freeman era after he out-coached James Franklin yet again. On the other side of the ball, the Penn State offense looked completely lost once their primary weapon went down.
Taking away Tyler Warren effectively ends Penn State's passing threat
I actually think that a big impact on this game was when Tyler Warren got taken out. When you take Tyler Warren away from Penn State, then you take away all the threat of their, their physical passing because they're wide receivers. Can't catch a ball.
While the Irish celebrated, it was a nightmare performance for the Nittany Lions' signal-caller. Big Cat didn't hold back on the performance of the supposed first-round prospect who couldn't stop giving the ball to the guys in the wrong jerseys.
Drew Allar was horrific against Notre Dame
Drew Allar was horrific. Drew Allar threw three interceptions today. And he was so bad that even the last lateral of the game, he overthrew and threw out of bounds. But I like Drew Allar was, was horrific.
Super Wild Card Weekend Preview
The guys moved into a massive preview of the opening round of the playoffs, even if the NFL is trying to take the "Super" out of the name. PFT is riding high with the Commanders, believing that the rematch against Tampa Bay will look nothing like Week 1. Between Jayden Daniels' growth and a defense that has elevated itself to "medium-bad," the vibes are high in DC.
Jaden Daniels will run all over the Buccaneers
I think Jayden is going to run the fuck outta the football. And I think Austin Eckler is gonna run the fuck outta the football. I think that Todd Bowles is going to, if he tries to blitz Jayden the way that he did in week one, it's not gonna end up well for him.
Big Cat is narrowing the field when it comes to actual contenders this year. While the field is expanded, he thinks the hardware is only going to one of five locker rooms.
There are only five teams that have a real shot at winning the Super Bowl
I have five teams... Philadelphia Eagles, the Detroit Lions, the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.
When it comes to the Bills and Broncos, Big Cat expects a massive scoreboard workout. Between Josh Allen playing at an MVP level and a Bills defense that has shown some cracks, the over feels like the play of the weekend.
I love the over in the Bills vs. Broncos game
I think I love the over in this game. I love it. Love it, love it. I think that the, I mean the weakness of the bills is their defense has not been great... And Josh Allen has been playing out of his mind and I think that he will not be stopped either.
Dan Orlovsky Breaks Down the Tape
Friend of the program Dan Orlovsky joined the show to provide the actual football intelligence that the rest of the cast lacks. He went deep on why the Ravens' defense suddenly became an impenetrable wall after mid-season struggles. It wasn't a complex scheme change; it was just moving one superstar into his natural habitat.
Kyle Hamilton saved the Ravens' season
Kyle Hamilton saved their season... What they did was they say, okay, the worst part of our defense is the secondary, let's take our best player and move him back there... he communicates at such a high level, he gets everybody in the right positions.
Dan also provided some hope for the underdog Broncos, noting that Patrick Surtain II is the closest thing the league has seen to Darrelle Revis in a decade. If Denver is going to pull the shocker in Orchard Park, it starts with locking down the perimeter.
Denver over Buffalo is the most likely Wild Card upset
I really do think it's Buffalo Denver because one, I think it's the game that most makes me feel like a real upset could actually happen... I think Denver's got a guy that could be the defensive player of the year in Surtain... it would be a massive upset, but I, I honestly don't think I, I would be surprised.
Fyre Fest and The Big Reveal
Fyre Fest of the week took a serious turn when Big Cat decided to finally address the "MassCat" rumors that have followed him for years. In an emotional segment, he admitted his Newton, Massachusetts roots but reaffirmed his soul belongs to Chicago. After years of feeling like a people-pleaser, he's done with the shame.
I'm done being ashamed of being from Massachusetts; I am a Chicago fan for life
I was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts... I'm done with [being ashamed]. I have a fucking awesome life... my fandom of the Chicago teams is genuine... I am a Chicago fan for the rest of my life now.
Hank is also dealing with some domestic heat as the internet roasted his interior design choices. Despite the critics, the Christmas trees are staying up in the condo until the Lombardi Trophy is hoisted.
The Super Bowl officially marks the end of winter
I'm keeping [the Christmas trees] up till after the Super Bowl. Super Bowl is the end of winter, as far as I'm concerned. That's the end of our season.
If being a theater kid who loves the Bears is wrong, Big Cat doesn't want to be right.
