We are officially in the dog days of summer, but the sports world is still providing enough chaos to keep Big Cat and PFT busy. Between LeBron James holding the entire NBA hostage with his indecision and Chip Kelly looking like a corrupt union boss in a hard hat at Northwestern's construction site, there’s plenty to chew on. Big Cat is already looking ahead to the Lakers star's next move, and he has a very specific destination in mind if winning is the priority.

Philadelphia is LeBron James' best chance to win a championship this year.

Philly's the best chance to win a title this year [for LeBron James].

Whether LeBron can win a title in Philly is a subjective projection for the 2026-27 season.

Speaking of the city of brotherly love, PFT might have a Philadelphia fetish based on how much he’s tracking Bryce Harper's red carpet trivia and Nick Sirianni’s discovery of ChatGPT. Max is naturally defensive, but the evidence is mounting.

Hot Seat/Cool Throne

Hank’s Hot Seat this week features a truly insane story involving Bryson DeChambeau at the Open Championship. After a ruling didn't go his way, Bryson reportedly looked for a very high-level intervention.

Bryson DeChambeau tried to call Donald Trump to help overrule a rules penalty during the Open Championship.

During that whole four hour process, Bryson [DeChambeau] said he was trying to get on the phone with the president to help overrule the penalty.

This refers to an event within the episode's current context (the 2026 Open).

Big Cat moved Roger Goodell to the Cool Throne, not because he likes the guy, but because he’s a master of the dark arts of sports commissioner work.

Big CatBig Cat

Roger Goodell is objectively great at his job because he is the shield and punching bag for NFL owners.

I don't like Roger Goodell. He's objectively very good at his job because his job is to make the most money for the NFL and be a human punching bag so that you're never mad at owners. You're mad at Roger Goodell. And he checks both those boxes every time.

The metrics of revenue growth and owner satisfaction are verifiable, but the qualitative assessment of 'good' is an opinion.

In a lighter moment, the guys reacted to Sean Strickland's "masculinity ranking" of sports. While Strickland put golf near the bottom, Big Cat took issue with the inclusion of swimming as a "ladyboy" sport, arguing the physical toll is far higher than most realize.

Void
Big CatBig Cat

Swimming is a more masculine and difficult sport than golf or tennis.

Swimming should be ahead of both of you [golf and tennis]. Swimming's way harder... Swimming's so hard. It should be golf, tennis, then swimming.

The relative 'hardness' of sports is purely subjective.

Finally, as the MLB season grinds toward the deadline, the guys discussed the Yankees and Pirates clearing the dugouts. Big Cat thinks baseball is missing a huge opportunity by punishing these brawls and offered a solution that would surely boost the mid-summer ratings.

Void
Big CatBig Cat

Major League Baseball should institute a weekly "fight night" where players can brawl without facing penalties or suspensions.

Or just do a weekly fight night where it's like no penalties. If you decide to fight, there will be no suspensions, no nothing. So like Wednesday nights you can fight if you want to. You don't have to fight, don't force it. But this is the night that you can fight with no penalties. Yeah. That would be so, I mean people would tune in.

This is a subjective proposal for MLB.

Jimmy Tatro Joins the Studio

Friend of the program Jimmy Tatro stopped by to promote his new Netflix show *Hawk* with Will Ferrell. While they talked about his improved golf swing and his fourth time working with Ferrell, the biggest bombshell was his upcoming entry into the superhero world as a massive primate.

I am going to play Gorilla Grodd in a new Spider-Man and Superman spinoff series.

I'm gonna be playing Gorilla [Grodd]... It's in the Spiderman Superman spinoff series.

Spider-Man and Superman belong to competing comic publishers (Marvel and DC), and Tatro is entirely joking about the casting.

This led to a deep dive into "gorilla tape," specifically a recent trade between the Pittsburgh and Boston zoos. PFT broke down the organizational philosophies of both zoos with his usual analytical rigor.

The Boston Zoo is in win-now mode with their recent gorilla trade, while the Pittsburgh Zoo is tanking to build a young core.

Boston's in win now mode. They wanted a mature gorilla. Pittsburgh is, they're, they're tanking. And so they're like, we need to get a young core together and, and put together a a, a good squad that's gonna grow together.

Satirical analysis of a zoo exchange.

Jimmy also shared some honest thoughts on being a die-hard Lakers fan. While he respects the greatness, the vibe shift from the Kobe era to the LeBron era hasn't been his favorite transition.

I didn't love the vibe of the LeBron James era with the Lakers.

I didn't love the vibe [of LeBron James]. I didn't love the vibe that he kind of... I don't love his vibe, but I respect him. We have to respect him.

This is his personal sentiment.

Before letting him go, PFT warned Jimmy about the dangers of Hollywood weight loss, noting that the "Ozempic look" might actually be a career killer for someone in his lane.

Comedy actors lose their edge and become less funny when they get skinny.

I'd be afraid if you're a comedy actor... a lot of times comedy actors, they get less funny if they get skinny. It's like they... there are a lot of examples of people that were bigger than they got skinny. And it's like, I kind of not as funny anymore.

This is a common pop culture observation but cannot be objectively proven.

Open Champion Ryan Fox

Fresh off his massive win at Royal Birkdale, Ryan Fox (Foxy) called in to talk about the whirlwind of winning a major. He shared stories of drinking red wine out of the Claret Jug, the "heebie-jeebies" he felt on the 18th green, and his daughter's humbling reaction to his career-defining achievement.

Foxy also discussed his background in rugby and his freakish physical strength. Despite being one of the fastest players on tour, he’s still got that athlete bulk ready to go if he hits the gym.

With a month of training, I could get back to bench pressing 300 pounds.

I reckon you give me, gimme like a month of training. I'll get pretty close to it [300 pounds] again.

He hasn't attempted this yet, so it remains a pending hypothetical.

To wrap things up, the guys hit a Mount Rushmore of non-edible things that look delicious (Nickelodeon slime is the 1/1) and tackled some FAQs, including whether Jaylen Brown has been traded to the Sixers yet.

Jaylen Brown was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Jaylen Brown got traded to the Sixers. That's a fact.

Jaylen Brown was absolutely not traded to the Sixers.

If you see a guy walking through the airport with two trophies in the overhead bin, just know he’s a champion and probably hasn't slept in 48 hours.
