It’s just the boys talking ball with no guest as the guys wrap up a week together in a cabin. Jayden Daniels NIL Drama with LSU is weird. Emmanuel Acho shares a crime. Bears stadium still isn’t ready. We talk about other National Sports podcast topics (-). Mt Rushmore of things to bring in your apocalypse to go bag (-). We are coming to you live from a shared cabin where the vibes are loose and the cabin fever is starting to set in. Big Cat, PFT, Hank, and the rest of the crew have been locked in close quarters all week, which naturally leads to a Friday show filled with weird stories and even weirder arguments. The primary topic on the docket is the bizarre fallout between Jayden Daniels and LSU. Apparently, Daniels sent a cease and desist to his former school over NIL usage, but the root cause seems to be Brian Kelly promising to retire his number and then immediately giving it to a recruit. While PFT thinks having a protective parent in the mix is a career move, Big Cat isn't buying the pettiness level.

Jayden Daniels asking LSU for his copy of the Heisman Trophy back is a salty bitch move

Do you think it's a, a salty bitch move for him to ask for the Heisman Trophy back? He's asking for the copy of the Heisman Trophy back. That seems crazy. [...] I think asking for the copy of the Heisman back is way worse than the end. And then the cease and desist. That's a crazy move. It's a copy of the Heisman.

Jayden Daniels having a protective 'pit bull' mom in his corner is a good thing for his career

I think it's awesome that his mom is super, super protective. I think that's a good thing to have somebody that's like a pit bull ride or die in your corner as you make that transition from being a Heisman trophy winning college quarterback to being a multi, multi multimillionaire global superstar in the NFL.

The conversation shifted toward the wider world of sports media and some truly questionable storytelling. Emmanuel Acho went on a podcast and essentially admitted to being the beneficiary of a team-sponsored 'fixer' following a car accident during his playing days. PFT didn't just find the story interesting; he found it criminal.

Emmanuel Acho should go to prison for a year for his NFL 'fixer' story.

I believe he's admitting to a, a felony. Yeah. To lying on a police report. [...] Yeah, I think, I think yeah. I think Emmanuel Acho should go to prison for a year.

Subjective comedic opinion on punishment.

Baseball Woes and Rivalry Hate

Max is in a dark place with the Phillies. After a week of watching them blow leads and look generally lifeless, he’s ready to pack it in for the year. He's so down on them that he's looking for any excuse to stop watching, while Big Cat is high on the Cubs and making some very bold proclamations about their status in the National League.

I am officially done with the Phillies for this season.

I'm over baseball right now, but mostly I'm, yeah. I hate the Phillies. I mean, this was just a terrible week. They can't, they can't win a series. [...] Bases loaded, no outs, double play, pop up, lose the game. I'm done with the Phillies.

Max did not actually stop caring about the Phillies.

The Cubs are currently better than the Dodgers.

I did say the Cubs are better than the Dodgers. I think I'm just gonna let myself get hurt when that doesn't True. [...] But I can say it until, until I'm proven wrong. I can just say it. I can just say things.

Subjective evaluation of team strength at a given moment.

As college football season looms, the crew looked at the culture of rivalries. Big Cat was particularly annoyed by coaches who try to play the 'respect' card instead of leaning into the pure, unadulterated hatred that makes the sport great. For him, a coach sharing popcorn with a rival is a fireable offense.

College coaches must hate their rivals to properly fuel their teams and fans.

I think you should have to hate your rival. That's that's good. [...] I look, look at like Matt Eberflus was sitting next to Matt LaFleur at like a Bucks game. Like sharing popcorn. Ben Johnson, he hates everyone in the division. Especially the Packers. Like more than anything in the world. That's what you want your coach to fuel you.

The Great Jersey Retirement Debate

Between Jayden Daniels and Sebastian Janikowski getting honored at Florida State, the guys got into the weeds on what it even means to retire a jersey anymore. PFT has reached his limit with the ceremony creep and is ready to abolish the practice entirely. Big Cat, however, has a very specific set of criteria for who should actually get their number hung in the rafters.

Jersey retirement has become meaningless because schools are too fast and loose with the policy.

That's always weird. That's fucking weird. That's why I think like Jersey retirement we've gotten way too fast and loose with [...] I think talking through this, I think I'm, I think I'm Antier retirement. Okay. I think that's my official stance. Okay. It's a weird, it's a weird thing. And it's led us to a point where schools are retiring jerseys with no actual meaning behind retiring the jersey. [...] So I'm just anti Jersey retirement from now on.

Athletes who win a national title should not have their jerseys retired

I'm gonna say I'm, I think you shouldn't get your jersey retired if you won a national title or like a championship, because then your team is basically honored right there. It's only, it should be only for guys who didn't win the big one... You retired that team forever. That team can never play football again.

Mt. Rushmore of Apocalypse Go Bag Items

The Mt. Rushmore of things you take for the apocalypse started with the basics like guns and lighters, but things went sideways when PFT started thinking about long-term survival and the post-collapse economy. While some people might want water or tools, PFT is looking toward a very specific form of tradeable currency.

Nude photos will be the 'new gold' currency in an apocalypse scenario.

I'm gonna take nudes. I mean, again, I'm, I'm planning for the long term. There's no internet. There's no weird movie theaters or sticky floors. You nudes are gonna be the new gold.

Max also decided to use the end of the world as a time to pick up a new hobby. In a moment of high-tension cabin fever, Max made a solemn vow that he is going to master the harmonica specifically to crush a Billy Joel classic at karaoke.

I am going to learn the harmonica and perform Billy Joel's 'Piano Man' at karaoke.

I will learn how to play the harmonica and do Billy Joel. No way. He's And yes, I will. Philly Joel Promise. [...] That probably will happen, but I'll do it

We will see if Max actually learns the harmonica.

Fyre Fest and Training Camp Buzz

Fyre Fest of the week featured a lot of internal team drama, including a terrifying encounter between Zac and a trash-can raccoon. PFT also took some time to address the 'Gentle Giant' NFT movement and his unwavering belief in the Gary Vee ecosystem, which at this point, might be more of a cry for help than a financial strategy.

Gary Vee's 'Gentle Giant' NFTs are going to undergo a massive glow-up.

Gary Vee's back. With some seriously hot NFTs, like really good investments. I still have one there. Gentle Giant is undergoing a massive glow up. Really massive. Like I feel like massive is even an understatement about how big the glow up on Gentle Giant's going to be. [...] I'm a believer in Gentle Giant.

NFTs are largely worthless and Gentle Giant is unlikely to experience a 'massive glow up'.

Finally, the crew addressed the viral clip of Jalen Hurts throwing an interception in training camp. While the internet was ready to burn the Eagles' season to the ground based on one practice rep, Max was the voice of reason for once.

People freaking out over Jalen Hurts throwing an interception in training camp are idiots.

I've stopped paying attention. This is the stupidest thing that's been ever talked about on the internet. Ever. One guy throwing an interception in training camp.

It's good to know that even in the apocalypse, Max will be there to tell us we're being stupid while he plays a harmonica.

Bloody Marys are incredibly overrated and worse than a simple screwdriver.

Bloody Mary [suck]. They do. They're so overrated. They seem cool, but it's just like, dude, vodka, orange juice. So much better. Screwdriver.
