Broncos Upset Chiefs, Rams Rule the West, and an Ugly Eagles Win

Week 11 gave us everything from overtime thrillers in Spain to defensive masterclasses in the mountains. Big Cat and PFT opened up the show reacting to a Sunday that proved the NFL product is still king, despite the murmurs. We started with the Commanders taking a "must-lose" in Madrid against the Dolphins. While PFT was initially cheering for his team, the reality of the draft board eventually set in, especially as the offense struggled to find any rhythm.

The Commanders are one of the worst teams in the league

I think the Commanders are one of the worst teams in the league. We just lost to the Dolphins... the offense is trash, the defense is also very, very, very bad.

The Commanders were 3-7 and just lost to a 4-7 Dolphins team at the time of the take.

The AFC South provided the day's biggest beatdown as the Jaguars absolutely dismantled the Chargers. Big Cat noted that the Jaguars played a brand of "Jim Harbaugh football" right down Harbaugh's throat, controlling the clock for massive chunks of the second half and leaving the Chargers' offensive line in shambles.

The Jaguars loss wounded Jim Harbaugh's soul and is likely the worst loss of his career.

I think this is going to be a game where if you, if we have Jim Harbaugh on in 10 years and we're like, 'what's the worst loss you ever had?' he might say this game because the Jaguars outmanned and out-physicaled and were more violent and just played Jim Harbaugh football right down his throat... I think this loss wounded Jim Harbaugh's soul.

We cannot definitively know Harbaugh's internal state or his career ranking of losses.

The AFC Power Shift

In Denver, we saw what might be the passing of the torch in the AFC West. Bo Nix outplayed Patrick Mahomes in a game where the Broncos' defense proved they are the real deal even without a fully healthy secondary. Big Cat admitted he was dead wrong about this game, as Denver moved to 9-2 and looked like the better team on the field.

The Broncos are better than the Chiefs right now

Bo Nix outplayed Patrick Mahomes... The Broncos are better than the Chiefs right now. Like, that's just a fact. And they are a legitimate threat and...

The Broncos beat the Chiefs in the game being recapped.

Hank, ever the loyalist to greatness, isn't ready to bury the dynasty just yet. Even with the Chiefs sitting at 5-5 and facing a brutal path to the postseason, he's convinced the Mahomes-Reid combination is inevitable once January hits.

The Chiefs are still going to figure it out and win the Super Bowl

It's the Chiefs. They're gonna win the Super Bowl. Whenever you think they're down, that's when they come back. Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, the Chiefs, they are gonna figure it out.

The Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs. Mahomes' ACL tear sealed their fate.

No one wants to play the Chiefs in the playoffs.

If they get there, no one wants to [play them]. Like no troll. Like no one wants to play [Mahomes]. No... Whenever you think they're down, that's when it's, when they come back.

Subjective claim about opponent fear/respect.

Meanwhile, we are officially calling it on the Bengals. After another defensive collapse against the Steelers, Big Cat is ready to close the book on Cincinnati's 2025 season. Between Joe Flacco's magic running out and Jamar Chase's "spit-gate" incident, there’s just nothing left to root for in the Queen City this year.

We are officially done with the Bengals for the 2025 season

Can we be done with the Bengals? ... They're not making the playoffs. Joe Burrow, don't rush back. We're done. I think Bengals fans would agree. We're done with the Bengals this year.

The Bengals' playoff chances were mathematically very low at this point.

Bear Weather and NFC Grinds

The Bears moved to 7-3 after a chaotic win over the Vikings that featured a missed Cairo Santos field goal followed immediately by a game-winning Cairo Santos field goal. Big Cat is finally ready to admit the vibes have shifted from "lucky" to actually "good," even if Caleb Williams is still being blitzed on nearly 80% of his dropbacks.

The Bears have officially graduated to being a good team

I do officially think we've graduated to good. We're obviously not great, but we're good for right now. Seven and three. You can't deny that they just find ways to win games.

A 7-3 record usually qualifies as 'good' in the NFL, though the point differential remains an issue.

If the Bears beat the Steelers next week, not making the playoffs would be a total disaster

If we beat the Steelers next week, I will then officially declare if we don't get to the playoffs, it'll be a disaster. Winning next week will then have me be like, alright, now I'm thinking about, hey, we're gonna probably go to the playoffs.

Cannot verify the specific Bears vs Steelers game result. The Bears did make the playoffs at 11-6, winning the NFC North and a Wild Card game. They lost in the Divisional Round to the Rams.

PFT has seen enough of the Minnesota offense to have a very specific comparison for their rookie quarterback. While JJ McCarthy has flashes of brilliance, the inconsistency and the sideline "ra-ra" speeches are giving off major throwback energy.

J.J. McCarthy is the new Tim Tebow.

J.J. McCarthy is the new Tebow. He just is. He's like, he'll throw an interception, go to the sidelines and like pat everybody on their shoulder be like, 'come on guys. Yeah. We all gotta step it up.' And then sometimes he'll pull like some magic out of his ass in the fourth quarter.

The comparison is inherently subjective and based on McCarthy's perceived locker room persona.

Out West, the Rams asserted their dominance over the Seahawks in a game that felt like a heavyweight defensive bout. Big Cat and PFT are both all-in on Sean McVay’s squad as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, though they have different levels of respect for the two defenses involved.

The Rams are a Super Bowl championship level team

I think the Rams are Super Bowl championship level team. 'Cause their defense is also elite... the Rams to me are the best team in the NFC right now.

The Rams were 12-5 and reached the NFCCG. Close to championship level but lost to Seahawks 27-31.

Sunday Night Stress and YouTube Greatness

The night ended with the Eagles outlasting the Lions in a game that was as ugly as it was important. Max spent the post-game defending Nick Sirianni’s aggressive (and questionable) fourth-down decisions, while the rest of the crew questioned why a team with such an elite defensive line keeps putting itself in high-stress situations.

Nick Sirianni is allowed to make questionable decisions because he is a winner

Nick Sirianni is the winningest coach in the NFL right now... I think that Nick Sirianni is allowed to make decisions and shouldn't be scrutinized for every single thing that he's done when he just keeps winning football games.

The Eagles are the number one can-be-bullied team. It definitely felt like that... they are a tough watch right now, but it works.

Before letting the numbers decide our fate for the week, the guys discussed the finale of the Barstool Internet Invitational. Between Slope-gate and the emotional tribute to Beef, it was a landmark moment for the company's golf coverage. PFT wasn't exaggerating when he called it the pinnacle of the format.

The Barstool Internet Invitational was the best piece of sports entertainment ever on YouTube.

I do actually think that that was the best piece of sports entertainment I've ever watched on YouTube. In the YouTube video format. It was the final round had like so many twists and turns in it. It had a lot of emotions.

I am not concerned about the Buccaneers; they will still win the NFC South.

I am not super concerned about the [Bucs]. I still think they're gonna win that division. I know the Panthers are breathing down their neck... As long as the Panthers don't get favored anymore games... I'll be okay with that.

PFT predicted the Bucs would still win the NFC South. The Panthers won the NFC South at 8-9 through a tiebreaker over the Bucs and Falcons. The Buccaneers did not win the division and missed the playoffs.

I am not worried about the Panthers catching the Bucs in the NFC South

I'm not worried about the Panthers... Somebody's gotta win the South. It's not exactly the most competitive division. So hopefully we can go ahead and lock that down.

The Panthers won the NFC South at 8-9, catching and passing the Bucs (also 8-9) on a tiebreaker. Zac's lack of worry was misplaced.

I think that I've been hesitant to say Raheem Morris is on the hot seat. He's on the hot seat now. This is five in a row that the Falcons have lost.

The Titans should stop punting and go for it on every fourth down for the rest of the year.

They should just not punt. They should say fuck it. Let's just get reps in on offense... Nobody gives a shit what happens with your special teams. Correct. It's not gonna do anything.

The Titans are unlikely to actually adopt this extreme strategy, making it mostly a rhetorical point.
