We Finally Finish Our Previous Dungeons and Dragons Campaign With Timm Woods And Nick Turani

Friday, February 14, 20258 takes

The people's champ Timm Woods is back to finish our last campaign, Forge of Fury. We are joined by Nick Turani, this quest is filled with twists and turns that will leave you speechless.

Timm Woods and Nick Turani Return for Dungeons and Dragons

Valentine's Day brought a special treat to the PMT studio as the people’s champ, Timm Woods, returned to guide the quest to finish the Forge of Fury campaign. The aesthetic was immediately established: Big Cat, PFT, Max, and Nick Turani all showed up dressed as Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hank, ever the contrarian, arrived as Leonardo. Despite the costume overlap, PFT pointed out that their dynamic was actually very lore-accurate for the show.

Shredder and the Ninja Turtles appear in every episode together but never actually kill each other

If you've ever watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shredder is in every episode. The Ninja Turtles are in like every episode. They never actually kill each other. They just fight.

This is a subjective observation of the show's formulaic nature.

The quest picked up with the crew heading deeper into the mountain to reclaim the legendary axe of the Dwarven blacksmith. However, an annoying orc named Poopy Stinks appeared to inform them they had been playing on "Easy Mode." Big Cat didn't take kindly to the accusation, and the group quickly decided to crank the difficulty up, despite PFT's admission about how most gamers actually use those settings.

Using difficulty 'sliders' in games is for people who want to hide that they are playing on easy mode; you have to play on 'hard mode' to truly win

We love using sliders. We just like to change 'em before people can see. We just don't want people to know that we're doing sliders... I wanna play hard mode. Absolutely. You gotta play hard teams. You gotta play hard teams to win.

The concept of 'winning' in a game is subjective, especially in a collaborative game like D&D.

As the group descended into the dwarven halls, they encountered invisible Duergar (evil gray-skinned dwarves). Max, playing as Hippo Maximus the Druid, initially hesitated to use his wild shape abilities. He argued that shifting too early would make him look suspicious to the rest of the crew.

A Dungeons and Dragons player who shapeshifts into an animal too early cannot be trusted

If you morph into something else already, how can you be trusted? Right. It's not even, especially if it's not even known yet. [I need to] fit in with like the rest of the crowd.

The concept of 'trust' in D&D roleplay is entirely subjective.

Once the fighting actually started, things got bloody. Big Cat, playing as Norm the Barbarian, took particular pleasure in dispatching Poopy Stinks after the orc taunted the group about their skill level. It turns out that taking out a trash-talking NPC provides a level of catharsis that's hard to find in other games.

There is nothing more satisfying than killing NPCs that you cannot normally kill over the internet

And nothing more satisfying than getting to kill people that we can't normally kill over the internet. Yes. Suck my dick, Poopy Stinks.

Satisfaction is an internal emotion and can't be objectively verified, though he seems to mean it in the moment.

Max eventually committed to the bit and transformed into a giant snapping turtle to help in the fight. While the shell provided some defense, Max's takeaway from the experience was less about the combat stats and more about the personality of the animal he had inhabited.

Turtles are annoying, talk down to others, and think they are in on something when they are not

There's something about it, a turtle that they do things in a way that is just really annoying to others. And I felt that annoyance within myself... They're like, talk down to you. Yep. They're also dumb and they think that they are in on something when they're really not.

This is a purely subjective and satirical opinion about an animal.

Norm the Barbarian continued his tradition of "Reckless Attacks," a move that Timm Woods revealed has become a signature playstyle for PMT fans who hire him for their own campaigns.

Pardon My Take fans who play Dungeons and Dragons as Barbarians almost always use the 'Reckless Attack' feature to imitate Big Cat's character, Norm

All the barbarian AWLs, when I run the game for them and I ask them whether they go reckless, they say 'just like Norm.' ... they all want to be like Norm.

Timm is reporting on his own professional experience with clients who are fans of the show.

Timm Woods continues to be the ultimate facilitator for the show's chaos, managing to balance Nick's accidental marriage (and subsequent widowing), PFT's bardic inspirations involving "great racks," and Big Cat's constant "credit card swiping" of his teammates. The business is booming for Timm, who noted that a massive portion of his professional life is now dedicated to the AWLs.

Fifty percent of professional Dungeons and Dragons clients are Pardon My Take fans

I love running games for AWLs. I think at this point 50% of my clients are like AWLs. I mean it's so rad because what I do is now that I've run Forge of Fury, I've been running another adventure for them.

I cannot verify Timm Woods' private business records, so this remains pending or taken at face value.

The episode concluded with a daring escape from the dragon Nightscale, involving Max transforming into a hunter shark and swimming the crew through an underwater tunnel to safety with the legendary axe in hand. The session was so successful that Big Cat made a major commitment for the 2025 summer schedule.

The Pardon My Take crew will attend the Gen Con Dungeons and Dragons convention in Indianapolis in August 2025

[Timm Woods]: The Indianapolis one is Gen Con. It is the biggest Dungeons and Dragons convention in the world. And if you guys were there, I could take you on the whole tour. [Big Cat]: When is it? [Timm Woods]: It is in August. [Big Cat]: 100% we're gonna do that. That sounds amazing.

This event takes place in August 2025; whether they actually attend remains to be seen.

Watch out, Indianapolis: the Shredders are coming for the crown.
