Punting on 4th and 14 against the Lions in the 2023 playoffs was a mistake

I look at it and I'm being dead ass serious about this too. Some of the red zone sequencing... But that stings and and I'll tell you why. And I'm not afraid to admit I would do that differently. I would've called probably the sequence leading up to that differently. Whether it works out or goes down the way we want, I don't know. But I think to take the ball outta Matthew [Stafford's] hands and to then sit there... shame on me for that.

The coach himself admitted it was a regret and a tactical error in hindsight.

Joel Embiid falls on his head intentionally to minimize impact on his knees

I saw some people saying that maybe [Joel Embiid] was trying to minimize the impact on his knees. So he's just not landing on his feet anymore. He is the opposite of a cat. He just lands on his head.

While Embiid has stated he falls to protect his joints, landing on his head is likely not the intended mechanic.

Carmelo Anthony should be the coach for the next Olympic team

Melo should be the coach in next Olympics. Melo literally called a play for Kevin Durant from the far sideline. He was like clear out, clear out. It was when Kevin Durant had the sauce.

The next Olympic coach (2028) has not been officially named, but Steve Kerr has stepped down.

Steve Kerr purposefully played bad lineups to make the Serbia game more dramatic

Credit Steve Kerr for making it an interesting game and one of a highlight Olympic basketball game because that was more fun than the US just killing everyone. If he had just kept with his best players the whole second half, we probably would've won by double digits.

Hot TakeBasketballHotSarcastic
Kerr did not intentionally make the game close for drama, he was managing a complex roster.

The NFL Combine workout is a small portion of player evaluation compared to game tape

The the workout part is a really small portion for me at least. I think it's led to some mis evaluations. The tape is the biggest guide. What I do think the combine's beneficial for is the medical checks... and then you spend those 15 minute increments where you're able to just get a feel for their football acumen.

This is a professional philosophy from a successful head coach.

Prospects are defined by how they handle the biggest adversity they've faced

The best thing... is, hey, what's the biggest adversity you faced and how did you bounce back from it? I'm such a big believer just based on the course of things that have occurred... that even though the most challenging moments, they felt like the worst thing when you're in 'em, you look back on 'em and you're saying, I don't know where I would be without what those lessons and those tough times taught me.

This is a personal and professional belief on character evaluation.

Cooper Kupp is likely going to part ways with the Rams

In the eight years going into year nine, there hasn't been a more challenging circumstance that you have to navigate relative to knowing that the most likely outcome is we're parting ways with him [Cooper Kupp]. He's a legacy ram... he's done so many incredible things... but he's been a real one throughout it. And sometimes these tough conversations are real things.

Cooper Kupp remained with the Rams for the 2024 season, despite trade rumors and McVay's comments here suggesting a likely departure.
