The key to winning in the postseason is keeping players fresh by playing a deep bench of 9 or 10 guys

I'm not going to shorten my bench at all. And the hardest game for a team like us to win will be the first game, because we're going to play nine or 10 guys, but in game two, we have an advantage because I'm not playing Jabari Smith 35 minutes in game one. I think that's one of the things that's made us a good program in March is that we're not exhausted at the end of the year.

Auburn was a 2-seed but lost in the second round to Miami in 2022. While the theory has merits, it did not result in a deep run this specific year.

I am the biggest Carson Wentz super fan in the world right now

I've reached this point in my bargaining stage where I think I'm the biggest Carson Wentz super fan in the world right now. I've had some time to think it through logically... Carson Wentz's ceiling is better than any quarterback in that division. Now, all we have to do is to get him to play at his ceiling on an average basis.

Hot TakeFootballHotSarcastic
Carson Wentz's tenure with the Commanders was widely considered a failure, and he was benched/released after one season.

Carson Wentz's ceiling is better than any other quarterback in the NFC East

I'm fully invested in thinking about [Carson Wentz's] ceiling. He's a big ceiling guy. Yes. His ceiling is better than any quarterback in that division [the NFC East] now.

Wentz was benched for Taylor Heinicke later that season and the Commanders finished last in the division. Both Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts clearly outperformed him in both floor and ceiling.

Carson Wentz is statistically the best quarterback in Washington franchise history

Carson Wentz in the last 20 years, Carson Wentz is actually the best quarterback the Washington football team franchise will have. So if you do minimum three games, Carson Wentz has 1.63 TDs per game. The second one on that list is Shane Matthews... [Wentz] is blowing the competition out of the water.

Wentz's tenure in Washington was a disaster. He ended the 2022 season with 11 TDs in 8 games (1.37 per game), falling below the mark Big Cat cited and losing his job.

Auburn felt like a special team early in the season after competing physically with Houston.

We had to play an an incredibly well coached, hard playing Houston team where we were gonna find out whether we were gonna be physical and tough enough... once we were able to beat Houston or at least be on compete with 'em, we felt like this team had a chance to be pretty special.

Auburn did indeed have a successful 2024-25 season, making a deep tournament run as Bruce Pearl predicted.

The 2025 Final Four features the four most deserving and dominant teams in the country.

I don't think you can name a fifth team that this year deserves to be playing for the national championship more than the four teams that are, are alive. And there's something really, really good about that.

This was part of an April Fools prank; in reality, these teams did not comprise the 2025 Final Four field.

Don't play middle-of-the-pack SEC teams in the tournament

I'm just saying this. Look at some of the teams that finished in the middle of our league right now, some of the teams that are going to be seated anywhere from five to nine or 10... I'm just telling you, you do not want to play some of those teams in the NCAA tournament.

The 2022 tournament saw varied results for the SEC; Arkansas reached the Elite Eight, but high seeds like Kentucky and Tennessee were upset early.
