Kobe Bryant was a self-made player who maximized his game through meticulous practice

The thing with Kobe too, is he really does work on his game. I always tell people he's a self-made player and people always kind of leave that out. He's obviously athletic, but that guy used to work on pivoting, passing, just weird stuff. He put in the time and obviously reaped the benefits from it.

Widely supported by many peers and biographers; Kobe's 'Mamba Mentality' is essentially the definition of being 'self-made' through work.

The UConn women's basketball team would be a 3-5 point favorite over the Philadelphia 76ers

I think that the – well, yeah, [UConn women] are going to win, and I think that the spread against the Sixers, they'd be like three to five-point favorites, depending if it was in UConn or if it was being played in Philly.

In reality, the worst NBA team would dominate even the best collegiate women's team due to size and speed differences.

Villanova would beat the Philadelphia 76ers

So yeah, I Villanova, I'd take Villanova over the Sixers.

Professional NBA teams do not lose to college teams under normal circumstances.

The Jaguars winning a Super Bowl is a futuristic impossibility

If the Jaguars ever win a Super Bowl, that that's like futuristic stuff, like hoverboard back to the future kind of stuff. The Jaguar, just that sentence, like Jaguars winning Super Bowl. That's something that you can my brain can't even compute that.

While the Jaguars have not won a Super Bowl as of 2024, it is not a 'hoverboard' level impossibility.

John Stockton never stretched before games or practices during his career

John never stretched. I don't think anybody would believe it. He'd warm up, go up and down maybe twice with a basketball and then go 'Alright, let's go' and just bust everybody's asses. Unbelievable... he played 16 years without missing a game. So I guess it worked for John.

Stockton's durability and lack of traditional stretching routines are well-documented parts of his NBA lore.

Gonzaga is America's team because everyone's main team is secondary to them

I would describe us [Gonzaga] as America's team because we're always like, right? You have your main team, but everybody kind of cheers for Gonzaga, right?

Subjective claim about national perception of a mid-major powerhouse.

A major college basketball coach always knows when players are getting paid

There's no way a coach of a major program doesn't know exactly what's going on at his program. 100%. Totally agree. ... Especially with the sneaker companies doing that type of stuff, you have to kind of know that somebody's getting greased on the backside.

While often suspected, the degree of specific knowledge by head coaches is a matter of debate and varies by program.
