Bill Belichick is tanking the Patriots' defense to prevent Matt Patricia from being hired as a head coach elsewhere

Is this Bill Belichick being the master puppeteer and making Matt Patricia undesirable for other teams to hire away this offseason? Because guess what? No one's going to want to interview him after this shit. He'll be there another year.

While the defense was poor, Matt Patricia was still hired as the Detroit Lions head coach following the season, disproving the idea he became undesirable.

Jared Goff is an NFL MVP candidate.

Jared Goff is good. Jared Goff, league MVP candidate.

Goff had a massive turnaround season in 2017, leading the Rams to the playoffs and making the Pro Bowl, but he was not a serious MVP finalist (Tom Brady won).

Sean McVay is winning with Jeff Fisher's players and Jeff Fisher didn't get enough credit for developing them

McVay is winning with Jeff Fisher's players. That's the thing. It's a bad situation because obviously Jeff didn't get enough chances to develop his guys. And so somebody else comes in and they take advantage of it.

While the roster was largely the same, the consensus is that McVay's coaching was the primary reason for the immediate turnaround from 4-12 to 11-5.

Coach O is the greatest interim head coach of all time, but not a great permanent head coach

Coach O is the greatest interim head coach of all time. Of all time. You give him some guys that aren't getting the most out of themselves... Coach O will whip them into shape in two seconds. You give Coach O the team from day one... he's a great interim coach. He's not the greatest head coach.

Ed Orgeron went on to win the National Championship as the permanent head coach of LSU in 2019, proving he was more than just an interim specialist.

Michigan was definitively the better team in the National Championship and it never felt like UConn was in danger of winning.

Michigan was the better team. We all saw it. It never felt like [the game] was in danger. Like the only moment that I was like, oh, UConn might have a chance, was when there was like maybe five and a half minutes left and Mullens missed that three to cut it to four.

The episode presents Michigan winning the 2026 National Championship as a fact within the show's timeline.

Michigan was the best team all year — outside of Duke, who would have won the championship by a lot

They were the best team. They were the best team all year outside of Duke. 'Cause that actually was my other big takeaway — Duke just completely, Duke beat this Michigan team a month and a half ago.

Subjective comparison of team quality. Duke did beat Michigan during the regular season in 2025-26.

Danny Hurley is 18-1 against the spread in his last four NCAA tournaments, which is insane

Danny Hurley remains 18 and one in the last four tournaments against the spread. How insane is that? Furman is the only one that they didn't cover. That was the first round this year.

This is a factual claim about Hurley's ATS record over the last four NCAA tournaments. Based on UConn's remarkable tournament run, this is plausible and presented as a known stat. Cannot fully verify exact record but the claim is stated as fact.
