Shohei Ohtani should become the best closer in baseball history

Why doesn't Shohei Ohtani become the best closer in the game? I was thinking about that. I went up, looked up Smoltz's history. He was a great pitcher for the Braves. Moved into the closing role and then dominated for a few years, then came back and started. He would be a lights out closer. Imagine if he was just like ding every day and then closing games. That would rule.

Ohtani did not become a closer; he signed with the Dodgers and spent the 2024 season primarily as a DH while recovering from surgery.

Shohei Ohtani will sign with the Mets and fail to live up to his contract

[Ohtani] goes to the Mets and then does not live up to the contract. It would be very funny though if the Mets signed him and then he just pulled a deGrom and just like every year in June, had to get shut down.

Ohtani signed a record-breaking contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, not the Mets.

Corey Davis only 'stepped away' from football because he was about to get cut

It probably means you can't fire me. I quit. Because you might not have made the roster. I feel like you don't step away if you're gonna make the roster. Right. But then the minute you see like, oh I might not, I might get cut here. Knowing that it seems like he might've been on the bubble. Even with the 10 million. It's a great move by him. Like 'I never got cut.'

While there was speculation about his roster spot, Davis cited personal reasons and family for his retirement. He later applied for reinstatement in 2024 but was released by the Jets anyway.

Trey Lance should try to play for Andy Reid in Kansas City to save his career

Trey Lance should step away and then try to find a way to wind up in Kansas City and play for Andy Reid and then become great.

Lance was traded to the Cowboys shortly after this episode, not the Chiefs, and remained a backup.

Michigan was definitively the better team in the National Championship and it never felt like UConn was in danger of winning.

Michigan was the better team. We all saw it. It never felt like [the game] was in danger. Like the only moment that I was like, oh, UConn might have a chance, was when there was like maybe five and a half minutes left and Mullens missed that three to cut it to four.

The episode presents Michigan winning the 2026 National Championship as a fact within the show's timeline.

Michigan was the best team all year — outside of Duke, who would have won the championship by a lot

They were the best team. They were the best team all year outside of Duke. 'Cause that actually was my other big takeaway — Duke just completely, Duke beat this Michigan team a month and a half ago.

Subjective comparison of team quality. Duke did beat Michigan during the regular season in 2025-26.

Danny Hurley is 18-1 against the spread in his last four NCAA tournaments, which is insane

Danny Hurley remains 18 and one in the last four tournaments against the spread. How insane is that? Furman is the only one that they didn't cover. That was the first round this year.

This is a factual claim about Hurley's ATS record over the last four NCAA tournaments. Based on UConn's remarkable tournament run, this is plausible and presented as a known stat. Cannot fully verify exact record but the claim is stated as fact.
