The 2016 Detroit Lions are a 'Haley's Comet' team that will likely get their asses kicked on Thanksgiving

Detroit, they're actually leading their division, and they're playing on Thanksgiving. I'm so used to watching shitty Lions teams. This is like Haley's Comet. It happens once every 75 years where you have a good Detroit team playing. You know what that means, though. They're going to get their asses kicked off.

The Lions actually beat the Vikings 16-13 on Thanksgiving 2016, so PFT was wrong about them getting their asses kicked.

NFL games in Mexico are much more electric than games in England

Mexico. I actually, that was an electric game. It was the exact opposite of football in England. England is so fucking boring. Everyone looks like it's a chore to be there... Mexico. They had the shot of the barbed wire. It felt like the Thunderdome.

This is a subjective opinion about atmosphere and fan engagement.

I'm taking the Lions to beat the Vikings on Thanksgiving

I'm going to take the Lions because I took the Vikings on the Pick'em podcast. That's how you keep yourself even there.

The Lions defeated the Vikings 16-13 on November 24, 2016.

The Chiefs' window never closed

I don't think we ever actually closed the Chiefs' window. I think Mahomes was just in bed because he was injured, far away from the window.

The Chiefs' long-term contention status is ultimately subjective, though their dynasty remained active at the time of the episode.

Mahomes will be back to himself by season's end

By the end of this season, Mahomes is gonna be back to being Mahomes.

Whether Mahomes returned to his established level by the end of the 2026 NFL season had not yet been resolved.

The Oregon loss could turn Dan Lanning into a psychopath

I don't think that Dan Lanning has slept since that loss. I think Dan Lanning has turned into an absolute psycho because of this loss. He's sick. It actually might be a dangerous thing for the rest of the Big Ten that Oregon lost that game.

Whether the loss made Oregon more dangerous over the rest of the season is a future, testable team-performance claim.
