Clayton Kershaw on World Series, Joakim Noah on Shamanism and Wemby

The vibes are high following a massive Eagles victory on Monday Night Football and some spicy new College Football Playoff rankings. PFT is already in mid-season form with his conspiracy theories regarding the committee's treatment of his beloved James Madison Dukes.

The College Football Playoff committee is intentionally keeping JMU out because they don't want any 'presidents' in the bracket

I think it's a anti-PFT thing. I think maybe the college football playoff committee has gone woke and they don't want any presidents in their bracket. Makes sense. It's sad. I mean, just fast forward 20 years, Trump University probably will be blacklisted too.

Hot TakeCFBHotSarcastic
The committee rankings are based on performance and strength of schedule, not a political aversion to 'presidents'.

Big Cat isn't quite as conspiratorial, but he does see a clear path for the Group of Five spot if things break a certain way for South Florida.

If South Florida wins out, they absolutely deserve to be in the College Football Playoff.

If South Florida runs the table... I also understand that South Florida is deserved to go in. Because they went and they beat Florida, you know, in the swamp. So that, you know, that's a, that's a big, big time win.

Whether a G5 champion with a signature P4 win 'deserves' a spot is a matter of opinion, though USF did beat Florida in 2025.

As for the top of the bracket, Big Cat is planting his flag with the Buckeyes, even with Indiana looming on the schedule. He thinks the gap between them and the field is wider than the rankings suggest.

Ohio State is significantly better than every other team in college football

I still think Ohio State is that much better than everyone else. And we'll find out though, Indiana and Ohio State feel like they're on a collision course.

This is subjective until the playoffs, though they are currently ranked highly.

Monday Night Football and the Tush Push Debate

Max is feeling himself after the Eagles handled the Packers at Lambo. While the game was a bit of a slog, the takeaway was clear: Philly's defense is back to being a problem for the rest of the league. Big Cat noted that the addition of Jalen Phillips has completely transformed their ceiling.

The Eagles defense is nasty and Jalen Phillips was the missing piece to make them elite again

I think the Eagles defense is nasty... Jalen Phillips was a monster and they feel like they're rounding into that type of form again.

Subjective evaluation of defensive performance.

On the other side of the ball, the Packers are looking like a shell of themselves. Between Jordan Love's struggles and a lack of rhythm, Big Cat is sounding the alarm on the offense in Green Bay.

The Packers' offense is completely broken right now.

Something's wrong, something's broken. They're in the Bills category of broken right now... their offense feels broken. It definitely feels like there's something going on that they got to like they gotta figure it out before it's too late.

The term 'broken' is subjective, but the Packers' offensive metrics and results for that season would determine if the assessment was accurate.

PFT, of course, spent a significant portion of the segment trying to find ways to nerf the Eagles' signature play. He admitted that while the play itself is legal, the competitive advantage is getting out of hand.

The NFL should ban the tush push because the Eagles are simply too much better at it than everyone else.

I hope they ban it because the Eagles are so much better at that play than anybody else. And I would, I would prefer them to not be able to dominate teams with it. But if you're asking me if the plays should be banned? No, it's, it's, it's not their fault that they're better at it.

This is a subjective opinion on league rules and competitive advantages.

Clayton Kershaw: The Retirement Tour Begins

Fresh off a World Series ring, the legend Clayton Kershaw joined the show to talk about hanging them up. He was incredibly candid about his lack of motivation to hit the gym and his legendary connection to Matthew Stafford. Kershaw thinks his high school buddy still has plenty of gas in the tank.

Matthew Stafford will play for five or six more years

The way Matthew's playing right now, he's gonna keep going for another five, six years... Matthew's gonna be going another, I mean, as long as he wants to really.

Stafford's retirement date is unknown, but playing into his early 40s is possible.

The conversation shifted to the sheer brilliance of Shohei Ohtani. Even as a teammate, Kershaw struggled to find the words to describe what he witnessed during the Dodgers' run, particularly Shohei's historic 50/50 performance.

Shohei Ohtani's 50/50 game in the 2024 NLCS is the best game ever played in sports history

[Ohtani's game] might be the best game ever played, maybe in any sport... especially when you consider the NLCS, you know, it's like, it's in the playoffs, you know? Yeah. I think he might be right.

Subjective assessment of historical greatness.

Joakim Noah in Studio

One of the program's favorite recurring guests, Joakim Noah, stopped by to promote his new travel show *Nomad*. He’s traveling the world exploring basketball culture, but the conversation quickly veered into his personal journey with shamanism and Ayahuasca.

Ayahuasca allows you to have real conversations with your ancestors in another realm

You go back, you go back and you have real conversations with your people. You know, you go to another realm... The medicine brought me places that definitely put me at peace with things that were, I had turmoil in my system.

This is a subjective spiritual claim that cannot be scientifically verified as a 'fact'.

Joe also shared his thoughts on the current state of the NBA and the terrifying development of Victor Wembanyama. After seeing him up close at a Bulls game, Noah is convinced the league isn't ready for what’s coming next.

The rest of the NBA is in big trouble because of what Victor Wembanyama is doing.

We're seeing something that we've never seen before. And we better appreciate what this is... Big, big trouble for the rest of the league.

Wembanyama's immediate impact and historic trajectory make this a very credible take.

Big Cat, ever the optimist, thinks he has the physical profile to actually give the alien some trouble in the post.

I think I could give Victor Wembanyama problems just by bodying him and getting physical.

I think I could probably give him a problem just bodying him a little bit. A little bit more weight than him. Back him down... If I just threw a couple bows on him, he probably wouldn't wanna come in the paint.

While obviously absurd, the literal claim that Big Cat could 'give him a problem' is definitively false.

Hot Seat/Cool Throne & FAQs

Hank is officially on the Hot Seat because he's "pre-sick" and apparently trying to pivot to being a left-handed golfer. He’s convinced that his natural swing is actually from the other side of the ball, despite years of evidence to the contrary.

My ceiling as a golfer might be higher as a lefty

I might be more... I can maybe my my ceiling is higher. Potentially left-handed more good at golf. My ceiling is higher. Damn. We'll see.

This is a personal claim that will be tested by Hank's actual golf performance over the next year.

Meanwhile, Zac is worried about a "catastrophic" winter involving a hot blob in the Pacific and a tilt of the earth's axis that could make Chicago uninhabitable. We wrap things up with PFT doubling down on his dream of becoming a lawyer without actually attending a single class.

I can pass the bar exam without going to law school if I study for four months

I have irrational confidence in myself to be able to pass the bar exam. It doesn't make any sense. I just think that if I, if I tried for like four months... I think I can, I can be a lawyer.

Passing the bar is notoriously difficult even for law graduates; doing so with four months of self-study is nearly impossible in most states.

Hopefully PFT passes the bar before the blob gets us all.

James Madison deserves a playoff spot because they are undefeated on Saturdays.

One school [James Madison] has not lost on a single Saturday... Undefeated on Saturdays. The other school [South Florida] has lost twice on Saturdays... You better hope to God that it's on a Friday if you don't put the undefeated on Saturday team in.

The merit of a team's record based on the day of the week is inherently subjective and satirical.

LSU's legal strategy of firing their AD for 'cause' to void Brian Kelly's contract is ironclad in Louisiana.

I think they're also gonna go with the, we fired Scott Woodward for cause therefore, anything that he did at the end of his tenure was also not an official act of LSU and their athletic department... Listen, I think in Louisiana it plays. I think that's ironclad.

The legality and success of this specific strategy in Louisiana courts is a legal opinion that hasn't been tested at the time of the podcast.

You can be critical of a coach and still root for them to succeed once it's decided they are staying.

I feel like people just need to fan how you want to fan... being critical of things not working is what you should do... now that they're [Luke Fickell] not [gone], I am like, I'm going to root my ass off for both guys to succeed. I do not want them to fail.

Tucker Kraft is the most important Packer and might get my vote for MVP.

The Packers, on the other hand, I feel like Tucker Kraft was the most important. He might be, he might get my vote for MVP.

While Kraft is a key contributor, he did not win the NFL MVP or any team MVP award that season.

NFL referees are intentionally not calling false starts on the tush push so they can use the tape to ban it in the offseason.

Refs are purposely not calling the false starts so that they can use that in the off season to ban it... they thought of how can we get a reason of why this should be banned? Say it's hard to officiate it, don't officiate it correctly, then it'll be banned.

This is an unprovable conspiracy theory about referee intent.

The Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis trade will be seen as a win-win in ten years.

Rob Pelinka texted Nico Harrison and said something like, man, I I I would do it again because I I really think we both won... It was a good trade. In 10 years they will be singing your praises.

This is a fictionalized/speculative trade outcome in the PMT 2025 universe.

Now is the time to buy stock in the 49ers looking at their upcoming schedule.

If you were trying to buy stock in something, there might be a spot where you could buy some stock in the Niners. 'cause they might, there's a chance the Niners could rip off some wins here in the next few games.

The 49ers' performance in the games against the Cardinals, Panthers, Browns, and Titans would determine the correctness.

I am betting everything on Notre Dame because of Pat Narduzzi's weird press conference comments.

Pat Narduzzi, the coach of Pitt... had one of the weirdest answers to a press conference question I think I've ever seen... I wanna just bet everything on Notre Dame. They are not going to cover the spread against Notre Dame.

Notre Dame demolished Pitt 37-15 on November 15, 2025. Big Cat bet everything on Notre Dame and they won by 22 points, covering easily.

A 'hot blob' and an 'earth tilt' will make the Chicago winter catastrophic and uninhabitable

Apocalyptic winter might be upon us. Why? I think it's inhabitable winter. We might just have to go out of country... High pressure, massive ocean heat wave up in North Pacific. The blob... They're saying 2013-2014 had nothing on this blob.

Weather predictions this extreme are usually internet hoaxes or hyperbole.

Chemistry is the most underrated aspect of sports

Something very underrated about sports in general. People always underestimate chemistry. You know, we could talk about stats and the star player and this and that, but when you enjoy playing with somebody, I think those guys look, there's eight guys scoring 10 points on the bulls.

Body wash doesn't work under your armpits

My take was that it's bullshit. That body wash doesn't work under your armpits. If you use body wash on your armpits and you don't use deodorant, your armpits still smell like an hour later.

A matter of opinion about hygiene effectiveness, though most experts would disagree with Hank.
