Soccer is officially dead in America for the next few years after Spain suffocated the life out of Argentina to claim the World Cup. It was a classic display of Spanish dominance that felt like watching a boa constrictor slowly end a game. Big Cat thinks this is just the beginning of a new dynasty for the Spaniards.
Spain is entering a period of absolute soccer dominance and will win the next Euro.
They won the Euro two years ago. They won the World Cup. They're probably gonna win the Euro in two years. They're just different generation dominating soccer.
PFT was less than enthused by the actual quality of play, noting that Argentina’s only strategy seemed to be fouling everyone in sight until they eventually ran out of luck.
The 2026 World Cup final was boring and sucked.
It was boring ass soccer. It sucked. It made me thankful that the World Cup's over, that football's back. Now we can get back into real football, which I'm very, very thankful for. But that was actually, I think that was the best way to end the World Cup, because I'm totally fine with no more soccer now.
While the final was a defensive slog, the third-place game between England and France was a high-scoring fever dream. However, Big Cat isn't buying the legitimacy of the stats coming out of the bronze medal match.
Goals scored in the World Cup third-place game should not count toward the Golden Boot.
I also had one bone to pick. The third place game, which is hilarious that they still do this... The fact that those goals count for the Golden Boot is such bullshit. That's stupid. That should not count. Like that's not a real game.
Fanatics Fest and Bryson's Meltdown
Between the World Cup and the Open Championship, the guys spent some time reacting to the "weird as hell" clips coming out of Fanatics Fest. From Tom Brady popping out of a casket like the Undertaker to a staged slap involving Logan Paul, the whole event felt like a fever dream. PFT wasn't holding back on the motivation behind the festival.
Fanatics Fest is a cynical place designed only to take money from fans.
It also seems like the most cynical place ever. Like, you can go to an autograph festival or a fan festival and you know that the guys are being paid to be there. And they're still like, happy to see, interact with you, all that shit. It just seems like every single thing about being at that place is just designed to take money from the people that are there.
Over at Royal Troon, Ryan Fox became a New Zealand legend by winning the Open Championship while golfing faster than anyone we've ever seen. But the real story was Bryson DeChambeau, who had a vintage meltdown after getting hit with a two-stroke penalty for trampling grass. PFT thinks there might be a bit of a conspiracy against the LIV star.
Bryson DeChambeau is being targeted by selective rule enforcement.
I think that Bryson definitely did it and it's definitely against the rules. And he got caught for it and they enforced it against him because he's a bad boy. He's had some run-ins before. I don't think the R&A or whatever, I don't think they're particularly happy with Bryson right now.
Who’s Back and the LeBron Watch
The LeBron James free agency sweepstakes is reaching a boiling point. With rumors swirling about the Sixers, Cavs, and Heat, Big Cat is convinced the King is waiting for the most inconvenient possible moment to drop his news.
LeBron James will announce his free agency decision tonight.
I'm fully expecting him to announce at 9:00 PM tonight. Yep. Like shit like that where it's like, I went to a movie on Thursday night. I was like, oh, LeBron's gonna fucking announce during the movie. He's, he's now fucking us... I think that's what's gonna happen. I think he's gonna decide tonight.
Max is already mentally preparing for LeBron to head back to South Beach, especially after Pat Riley's recent comments about landing planes.
LeBron James will sign with the Miami Heat.
Yeah. I mean he's gonna, he's gonna go to the Heat. So like Savannah's not going to Philly. She's not living in Philly.
Robert Saleh Joins the Show
Tennessee Titans Head Coach Robert Saleh joined the guys to talk about his second chance in Nashville. It was a great look into his philosophy on building a culture and why he felt the Titans were the perfect fit. He also touched on his time with the Jets and how he handles the "guru" status given to offensive coaches.
NFL rules are heavily tilted toward the offense.
I enjoy defense because there's an emotion to it. You know, I joke with the offensive guys that if they f something up, it's second and 10. If we f it up, it's a touchdown... The entire league is tilted offense. All the rules are tilted offense. Every offensive coach is a guru. And so it's a good little battle.
Saleh also took some time to give flowers to his former players, specifically 49ers star Fred Warner.
Fred Warner is going to the Hall of Fame and is one of the best linebackers of his generation.
Fred Warner is probably, I mean, he's going to the Hall of Fame. He's probably one of the best linebackers of our generation.
One of the most interesting parts of the interview was Saleh’s take on locker room dynamics. PFT brought up the statistics regarding ping pong tables and team success, but Saleh isn't the type of coach to blame the equipment for a loss.
Removing a ping pong table from an NFL locker room statistically leads to team improvement.
He [Ryan Paganini] put together a stat online. He looked through every team that has removed a ping pong table from the locker room since the year 2001... of the eight of the nine teams improved going from a combined 49 and 96 the previous season to 74 and 71... So it looks like the stats tell you if you want your team to get better, take the ping pong table out.
Mount Rushmore of Animals to Get Drunk With
Hank returned just in time for a Mount Rushmore that devolved into a debate about whether a bald eagle would be a fun hang or a federal crime. PFT went with the Gorilla as his 1/1, while Big Cat leaned into the Manatee for the ultimate "chill fat guy" vibe. We also had a major height controversy in the office when Zac claimed to be 5'11", only for a tape measure and a book to prove him very wrong.
Zac is officially 6'0.5" without shoes
It's officially six foot and a half without shoes on. You're not even close to five 11... You're six one. Like, what are we doing?
Watch out for Zac in the halls, he’s officially a six-footer now.
